Lvg charged with implying that the ref was biased in the first game against Cambridge.. He is stating to sound like a proper united manager haha

Are you getting that from an interview where Jorges Mendes doesn't mention Van Gaal once? I see him acknowledging the genius of Alex Ferguson, and rightfully so, and that of Jose Mourinho, his own client.

Mendes doesn't consider Van Gaal a genius like he does Ferguson and Mourihno, but to say he 'clearly doesn't rate Van Gaal' based on that interview is a bit of a reach.

Some people around here may think this is crazy but if United were offered 35m for di-Maria in the summer I would sell him, I have never rated him as highly as others, he obviously has talent but he not a central midfielder and as an attacker or winger he simply doesn't or hasn't scored enough goals, Bale , Robben, A Sanchez and Reus are examples of attackers/ wingers that are invaluable in the modern game, they play out wide or as a number 10 but score as many goals as a top striker

This is an example of a team that LVG would field if he could

    De Gea

    Coleman
    Hummels
    Rojo
    Shaw

    Blind

    Pogba
    Strootman or Vidal

    ---Sanchez or Robben
    Bale or Reus

    Falcao or Rvp or Rooney

Why stop there? Why not name an entire team of players who don't play for United. :P

Did you ever start typing out a post and then just stop midway through and go to a completely different website for a few minutes?

Sure I he could I'm sure he would have messi and Ronaldo there too. I don't know how you could not rate di Maria when he practically won champions league last year for real Madrid and had a stormer of a world cup for argentina and made team of the year.. Di Maria is one of the best players in the world at what he does. He was never a big scorer of goals he only scored 3 I think last season, but he assisted more goals then anyone else in Europe. He is playing in a team that's unsettled and been moved around I think when the team continues to settle down after injuries ect ge will be alot better and hopefully he be strutting his stuff in champs league for us next season.

McNair has signed a contract extension a couple of days ago apparently. No word on others as yet.

I'm getting pretty tired of reading excuses for multi-million pound transfers not performing well. From Mata and Felliani last season to Di Maria, Herrera and Falcao this season all we keep hearing is that they are world class and when the team is playing well then we will see them at their best. Just once it would be nice to see one of these guys lead the way, to perform at the highest level even when the team isn't playing well, even when the team isn't settled.

I can only assume you didnt see Di Maria play for Real or Argentina in the last year.

Regarding Herrera LVG said the the team picks itself on the training ground. He chooses his players based on how they perform during training.

Rooney in midfield because of training?

LVG has already said that when Rooney is in midfield it's because it suits the team better.

Whether we agree with it or not LVG seems open to saying why he makes the decisions.

Would you agree that Mata and Fellaini have improved markedly for us this season? Since you're saying the excuses for them were for last season?

    There's a clue there somewhere...

Indeed it would be nice if all these players hit the ground running but I'd say it's more normal for them to take some time

i seriously think we should forget about hummels....

No, I wouldn't, certainly not nearly enough to justify the huge fees spent on them. Felliani has improved, which wouldn't be hard considering how dire he was, and he is worth a place in the team but he is still short of what we need.

Mata is one of those sacred cows you aren't allowed to criticise in here, suffice to say he has not improved our fortunes one iota since he joined. When we are great again he will probably look good himself, but he won't bring us there. Which was my point, all those millions spent on players that can't perform unless everything is perfect for them.

I'm also amused at your "clue" comment. Are you trying to say that two guys who had 8 PL years and 200 premier league games between them needed a year to settle in at a premier league club? That says a lot about them if you ask me.

Apart from the West Brom game I think Herrera has always looked quality.

Not sure about that now, Mata gets lots of criticism on here and he's a pretty easy target. His performances have ranged from great, average to anonymous this season.

We all wish he was a pretty easy target.

Cant believe the state of Dortmund. They should be easy pickings in the summer

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,889 ✭✭✭✭The Moldy Gowl

Didn't know they were dead last. Wow. Surreal.

We would have all been creaming ourselves with klopp in the summer as well.

Is it 34 games in Germany?

Liverpool 1 down. If they lose, we surely have to win the fa cup.

No doubt the haters will downplay it if we do win since all the good teams got knocked out early

The clue comment was especially for you old chum, I knew you'd like it!!...Ya players will need time to settle at a new club regardless of it being the same league and anyway the aforementioned both entered into a pretty toxic atmosphere...nothing new there

All this negativity anyone got anything positive to talk about? Like sitting third in table? Threw to next round of cup? 8 clean sheets in 16 games? Team playing there hearts out last night chasing down balls in the 92nd minute? Talk that de gea will stay with united coming from his agent?
