why do elites want to cripple us so much

By us I mean the little people, the 99%..in recent years I've become more aware of how the world is operated..rich getting richer and..you know the rest. I do wonder why the elites of the world want to constantly battle with us as fellow humans to extract money and squeeze as much as possible. You would think that the rupert murdochs/Rothschilds of this planet would have enough wealth to be satisfied, surely they have the sense to realise they are not immortal. Having thought about this a bit, I can only come to the conclusion that its about power and control, and that sociopaths are at the helm.

The only people that they cripple are the people who believe they exist.

There are many other problems facing the people of world more important than the hysterical fear of a secret society consisting of Rupert Murdoch, the Rothschilds, the Queen, David Beckham, Bill Gates, Paris Hilton, a few Sheiks and oligarchs and the Mexican buck that sells mobile phones.

It's beyond ridiculous.

Keep in mind that most Irish people are not among that 99% being bandied about all week. It's a global figure, not an Irish one.
Enjoy being among the 1% and forget the histrionics. It's no big conspiracy.

Like what? War? Starvation? Why do a family of 6 people have the same wealth as 30percent of americans. The reason for war in Iraq is for oil primarily.

Don't believe all that nonsense about "the little people" and the "99%". Nobody wants to crush you or oppress you or anything else. They're no different than the 99% of the world who are motivated to better themselves in life, and then there's the 1% who feel the world owes them a living, the type of self-absorbed idiot who doesn't want to contribute to society, but feels society should be made to feel pity for them.

99% of people ain't got time for the 1%.

The person who cripples one the most is ones self. Believing you are downtrodden and there is nothing you can do, well you just have set yourself up for failure.
People need to believe in themselves, avoid depending on the state, guaranteed failure if you think the state can change your circumstances, it can assist but you have to make the changes.

I never see myself as downtrodden, I am always looking for ways to become the next Rothschild.
I believe my destiny lies in my own hands, the choices I make, not the choices of others.

There is no elite crippling me, people need to do stuff for themselves and make stuff happen for themselves.

There is no conscious plan/conspiracy among 'elites', to cripple anyone - but there are a lot of self-interested and powerful groups in the world, who will try to maximize their power/influence without caring about the negative effects that will have on others (many of which, probably don't even believe those negative effects happen) - and dysfunctional economic/political systems that cause those negative effects to fall on society overall.

You don't need conspiracies, to show how actions of 'elites' i.e. powerful groups within societies, end up harming the rest of society.

You don't need to be 'ungrateful' of your privileged position in the world either (Ireland being fairly wealthy compared to e.g. African nations), to realize that letting these 'elites' keep on gaining more and more wealth/power at their current rate, is going to threaten both our standard of living and the future of our democracies.

Contrary to what has been claimed over the last number of years, we've not been on the path to economic recovery at all - and it's about to get a whole lot worse again, with no change in sight. We are going to have permanent stagnation, Japanese style, and wealth will keep on being redistributed upwards - if people want to avoid or change that, they're going to need to start giving a toss first.

The ecb can create money with keys on a computer, yet the celtic tiger property bubble was a massive transfer of wealth and nationalisation of private failed banks in the name of neo liberal capitalism. People's lives were ruined in the process.

It's not the 1% that you have to worry about, globally there are about 70 million of them.
It's the 0.01% who are the real movers & shakers of the world you need to look at, all 700k of them, these are the ones who can make or break a country when they decide where to move their money.

As has already been stated, these people do not collaborate to squeeze people, after all it's in their best interests that the 99.99% are spending as they get a cut of every transaction in their sphere of influence.

Unfortunately, they are usually greedy as well, the globalisation of industry (jobs moved to cheaper Asian countries) will ultimately pull the rug from the western elites feet as much of the income that used to go their way is now going East.

In the long term the West will be a much poorer place after having exported al the primary industrial jobs away, now the Chinese are starting to make reai inroads into the upper level jobs as well. We are already seeing Chinese brands replacing Well known Western ones, with these imports, all the income is Going East rather than a Western trader getting stuff made in China cheaply.

The standard of living in the western world is better than it ever has been for the majority of people. Could and should it be better? Yes. Why isn't it? Economics is not an exact science.

It is true that living standards are at an all time high, the fear is they may have "peaked" due to the exportation of so many jobs East and the fact that local industries can never compete with Chinese goods being imported and sold in supermarkets.

Fewer lower paid unskilled jobs mean that there will always be a stubbornly high unemployment rate, in addition to a larger number of jobs falling into the minimum wage bracket due to the surplus of people to fill them. Increasing the number of low waged jobs will ultimately have a knock on effect that reduces the general living standards of a larger number as wage deflation takes hold.

Recent economic improvements have temporarily halted the trend, But I suspect that this improvement will be short lived.

To those who talk about the wealthy elite, the top 1% or the top 10%, just remember that most Irish people are in the top 10% of the worlds population and virtually all Irish people are in the top half.
