Yeah I'd say it's high up the list of necessary credentials along with having a man crush on Mata.

Pogba is an amazing player but we missed our chance with him. I, along with many other regular Utd posters was devastated when he was let go but going back with our tail between our legs to spend £60m or whatever it would take to get him would be a huge embarrassment.

To make matters worse, if Pogba came back and wasn't happy with how he was being played (which is quite likely under LVG), his agent would more than likely start angling for another move. I get the feeling Pogba, with Mino Raiola in his ear, will be one of those very talented players who moves around a lot in his career and I would prefer to see us sign someone who is more likely to stick around for the long haul at Utd.

I think we would be better off investing that money elsewhere on a less turbulent player(s).

I don't think so, utd are a massive club, if he came back he could easily stay 7-8 years and become a club legend

Being embarrased is no reason not to sign or resign a player. Price, ability, if he is needed etc yes its slightly annoying if it happened but it was under different management.. Sign him up sure wont he be worth 200mil in 5 years :pac:

I want to be embarrassed with Pogba returning to United, but I will just let Fergie be embarrassed.

    2011-12: 56
    2010-11: 53
    2009-10: 51

An exceptional drop from SAF :(

Wow that is interesting, especially given all the attacking talent we have now.

I'd imagine a lot of rival club supporters will be haw-haw-ing at us if Pogba were to resign for huge money.

This laughing will however, in all cases, be trying to cover up a seething rage that we've signed one of the top prospects, the top talents, in football.

I'll just smile politely and break my ass laughing inside.....

Pogba would be a complete idiot to come to us over the likes of Madrid tbh.

We just need to go French...
    Varane
    Laporte
    Lacazette
    Pogba

France have a decent chance of winning a major tournament again, United should go French....

Yes I do though I cannot figure out why once again we've left it late in the window to act.

The club wants to sign two players, a rb and a cb but infant see us signing the quality needed.

    That hurt :(

Aww come on, totally taking the piss hence my little smiley family in the post. No matter who posted that I would have said it, it begged it! We shouldn't praise the mods around here, they get enough with the fat salary and easy job.:pac::pac:

Ok, now I'm all out of smileys!

Oh, and today was dreadfully fúcking quiet around here. Calm before the storm maybe? Not sure if we're going to sign anyone this window, or at least the calibre of player we need.

Some good stuff from Henry Winter over the weekend. In summary that Van Gaal isn't understanding the competitive nature of English football, and his arrogance and the tone he is taking with the media is damaging him week by week.

Starting to strongly agree. Needs to start realising that every team will up their game against United, it's just a given.

Was really annoyed with his excuses after Friday night and thought it was bang out of order. Also not really warming to his tone in press conferences.

I'd argue that he does need to explain himself, the journalists in there are the avenue to the fans. So I feel he does need to start explaining to supporters of the club what he is trying to do, because week by week its starting to look a mess.

Is the under 18s game on tv tonight? Mutv?

Doc, he has never liked the media and it's rare in England for a manager to be so aggressive towards them. That just sounds like the media are annoyed at him because he won't tell them things and are gonna paint him in a bad light now.

Bangkok, I thought fergie was a tactical genius? So are you dismissing formations/tactics now in favour of individual players?
If it was about players then why can't we play Rooney in midfield and di Maria up front and expect it to work?

yes he was, hence why he won so much, lvg is over complicating things so much now I don't think he knows what he is doing himself

Granted not a lot of journalists understand the concept of why they are permitted into a room to speak to a manager, a lot of them do.

The purpose being that managers don't hold press conferences with fan groups or forums, so it's how we essentially get information from the manager. Unfortunately as years go on that fundamental purpose and requirements gets further and further lost as clubs become more closed and the media forget their purpose and become more opinionated in that setting.

He is not above question. I'm not in the boat of having any serious concerns of fears, but it's not being a good first stretch for the team under Van Gaal. Grinding out results and beating Liverpool were quickly overshadowed by a poor Christmas run and a longstanding issue of rubbish performances.

Too many modern managers are concerned with not providing details and insight that they feel opponents can exploit, while at the same time keep their own fans in the dark.

You do know there is a very good argument that SAf was not the tactical genius that you are making out?

Have to say if I was drawing a list of his strengths, tactics wouldn't be in the top five probably.

we had this argument before, I listed all different tactics etc he used, how he adapted his style to change with the modern day footballer, how he left wenger miles behind with his reluctance to change.

As a matter of interest, why do you think fergie was not good at tactics?

To be fair Fergie didn't claim to be a tactical genius, he gave the likes of Carlos Queiroz a lot of credit for how Uniteds tactics evolved. A strenght with Fergie was that he obviously wasn't afraid to take on that advice and make changes.
