Soooo, instead of making any attempt to tackle these inequalities yourself that seem to concern you so, you decide to take a pop at someone else who is at least making some attempt to tackle them?

Righto, carry on, I think I know where this is going...

To be fair, my acting career doesn't quite afford me the same pedestal as Watson. Although I did play a tree in the primary school play. Maybe I was just too wooden, baduum tish.
I'd do a bit more but I don't quite have access to a microphone at the UN or Davos conference. Or millions of followers on twitter.

Now, since you seemed to miss the HEAVY DARK PRINT, I specifically tried to draw attention to more pressing matters regarding feminism, y'know, where women actually die and stuff. Yes, even worse than being called 'bossy', if you can imagine.

    The Davos forum

who the fcuk do these people think they actually are?

Climate change was the main topic this year afaik.

1700 private jets were used to ferry all the VIPs to the event

Some of you may recall the multi-millionaire, ivy league graduate, former child actress Emma Watson preaching from her merry soapbox about 'sexism' she faced growing up as an upper class member of the British establishment, culminating in her once being horrifically labelled 'bossy' by other children at the local speech and drama school. Rumours that the Simon Wiesenthal centre have offered their solidarity remain unconfirmed at this time.

Well little Emma Watson has only gone and outdone herself by lecturing world leaders at the Davos forum about gender equality and, ahem, 'women's empowerment':

    http://www.independent.ie/business/davos-world-economic-forum/the-world-is-held-back-because-women-arent-equal-emma-watson-launches-new-initiative-with-powerful-davos-speech-30930781.html

Yaw, yaw, yaw. It's all very good spoofing us with your phoney war stories Watson, and I'm sure your Guardianista friendly, policy vague droolings on equality make some lovely psuedo-intellectual side salad on facebook and twitter.

Now how about you cut the chit chat and address the REAL areas of gender equality-namely large parts of the Middle East where speaking out if you are a women can get you a jar of battery acid in the face, or stoned to death for committing 'adultery' by getting raped. Almost every Western country allows for gender equality and empowerment in terms of legal and political framework, so it would be nice if you directed the spotlight on somewhere like Pakistan or Saudi Arabia for a change. Or it is a case of shuffling in your seat and muttering excuses when we bring up the elephant in the room?

Does anyone else smell a rat when these precious 'aktores' and luvvies start dictating policy to Western society? What is their agenda? If they truly wanted to address equality then maybe they should go for the mother load.
It appears Watson is being groomed for a position in the UN, and has decided to hop on board the lucrative multi million dollar talking shop of patronising rich Westerners who will bestow upon us their holy teachings from time to time.........without offering any realistic solutions.
Blaming Western society for every problem is starting to get a little tiresome, and it's about time we called these chancers out on their bullsheete.

I'm mad as hell, and I'm not accepting this rubbish any more.

    Champagne and crackers, anyone?

TLDR: Cranky man calls out celebrity spoofers

Yet their some of the Wests best friends in the world & the Wests political leaders don't condemn the brutal treatment of women in these countries, instead they stay silent on these types of issues & give them the diplomatic protection & prop up these medieval regimes to carry out these barbaric acts against women because my enemies enemy is my friend.

    She didn't.

She fondled and possibly spread open her baby sister's vagina when she was 7 year's old. They were both prepubescent kids and they were siblings. Its natural, the majority of us have done it if we are completely honest and have good memories, and most psychologists/psychiatrists consider it a normal behavioural trait of kids of that age. Dunham was just honest and brave enough to write about it and probably knew it would stir up some controversy among the conservatives which would be good for her book sales.

Anything else Dunham was done to warrant this reputation?

She bribed her 7 year old sister to kiss her and masturbated in the bed beside her. She was 13 at the time.

She also subjected her to emotional torment throughout her childhood

This is a quote from the book in which she talks about her relationship with the sister.
"I took a perverse pleasure in delivering bad news to her, like the death of her grandfather.. hoping the fear would drive her into my arms"

    And another
As she grew, I took to bribing her time and affection: one dollar in quarters if I could do her makeup like a “motorcycle chick.” Three pieces of candy if I could kiss her on the lips for five seconds. Whatever she wanted to watch on TV if she would just “relax on me.” Basically, anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl, I was trying.

That's all pretty normal behaviour for kids.

And I still fail to see how it relates to her behaviour as a grown adult.

Erm.....I'm not trying to embarrass you or anything, but I have never, ever heard of a child playing with another child's genitals when growing up. Also, Dunham mentions bribing her sister with sweets to kiss her when Dunham is aged 14. That's the textbook definition of a predator right there.

I dunno about predator, but it's well odd behaviour and she doesn't even realize it. She's the poster girl for the millennial types for good reason. Ivory tower, egocentric narcissist worldview, runs on the feelz and attention and sees little at fault within herself.

Oh I take your point, though one could argue that her experiences and worldview as a famous child star inform her in a very different way compared to the vast majority of even western women. Now fair play for putting her neck out, but the fact of who she is allows this, but it also informs it. Plus I think people are getting "Bono Fatigue" with your "stars" prattling on. She's by no means anywhere near the top of that sanctimonious tree, but that would be part of it I reckon.

You should write her a letter and tell her that, otherwise how will she know what you think? Maybe use a red crayon to emphasise your point.

A loving, caring one. Why? Yes, it is. And yes, old enough to know the difference between right or wrong. But she didn't do anything wrong.

A famous bloke would most likely be too afraid to admit to it in the first place. That doesn't mean we should criticise Dunham for what was normal adolescent behaviour.

It's incredibly common and don't worry, you're only embarrassing yourself by comparing a curious child to a sexual predator. She said it herself as a joke but obviously some people take everything to heart.

I like you. You make up your own dialogue and characters and everything. It's like a one person play.

She's young, beautiful and still has the belief that she can change the world. I'm envious to be honest - give it 25 years love and come back to me with your stretch marks, middle aged spread and dwindling enthusiasm and then I'll be impressed!

Well I'm not gonna try and change your views on it. You have your own opinions about the woman and I have mine.

Mine is that she's not a very nice person and that she doesn't deserve the status she has in public life, or the 'protections' from criticism that it affords.

You can keep saying it's normal behavior but that doesn't make it so. Being curious and exploring sexuality is normal. Blackmailing, bribing and emotionally tormenting others for your own gratification isn't.

And why might that be pray tell? Might he have good reason to? How much of a difference does gender make in the perception of whether something is abuse or childhood games? That's my point. The ivory tower white rich girl millennial didn't even think(if she thought at all) her "honesty" would be anything but accepted. That's how cut off she is.

It's just so predictable. Someone makes a speech for women's equality and all the sexist and lewd commentators crawl out for more cheap laughs. BTW the OP's remarks that attention needs to be focussed on 3rd world is correct but that doesn't disallow commentary on 1st world affairs.

Oh I think she does. She's big because she represents a generational demographic that she is a mirror of. Your Jezebel bloggist types.
or the 'protections' from criticism that it affords.
Well she thinks she has that, because a) she's a white middle class American woman(a heavily protected species) and the same demographic are largely seen seen as out of bounds for much critique by mainstream media, particularly left and centrist media, lest they become accused of being "heteronormative bigots" or some such nonsense of newspeak.

Well how very dare she speak about what she finds important when Boring Username has decreed that she's interested in the wrong thing. I do hope he has written to her to tell her what she should be interested in.
