It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Both the masculine and feminine forces of the two sexes are needed to bring out the best latent attributes, personality and talents in the child. This is the most crucial criterion of family life (as is marriage). We have a world-majority that agree with this reality.
Can you link us to a credible study which proves this?

That's only religious marriage being discussed in the link you provided. The referendum won't effect religious marriage. Catholics will have be free to celebrate heterosexual marriage all they want.

The referendum will allow the state to recognise SSM. It won't oblige the catholics to recognise them.

    Hes changed his nind.

That is what a lot of politicians have done for political reasons.

Follow what they believe the people want, it causes less hassle and makes re-election easier. There is a lot if that going on. Enda was against SSM but changed his minds, the polls probably helped as he is not a man of conviction.

Enda came up with get rid of the seanad, as he thought it would be popular to have less politicans.
He was not into reform, but what he believes is popular.

Same with Obama, and his switch around to supporting SSM, it helps with fundraising and personal ambitions...

It's funny, over the past few years, a majority of the the electorate in both Ireland and the U.S. have changed their minds on issues like same sex marriage and moved from majority opposition to majority support.

For some reason however, the opinion of politicans is expected to remain frozen and static on these issues, and if their opinion does change then political expediency is considered the only reasonable or rational explanation.

I think it's also funny that politicians would be criticised for trying to introduce something that a majority of the country want. Imagine, elected representatives making their decision in accordance with the understand to be the will of the people!

i used to be very opposed to the liberal agenda but over the years i have mellowed quiet a bit .
1 abortion if people want to kill their unborn children let them the kids would only turn out like their parents anyway
2 gay if they wish hence no procreation
3 Euthanasia then they can go and kill themselves
all this will only insure that there are less lefty atheists around in the future

I'd rather live in hell than listen to what the pope has to say in any heaven. Please, please, don't drag me up to your magical land in the clouds.
