Don't often see Delta 747s over here. N670US on a trooping charter, westbound at 13:05

And it's counter-productive how Omni's 767s are obscured on FR24, just makes people want to know more about them! N351AX down the east coast of England operating a return from Calgary for the MoD

That SAS is off from shannon again. Anyone know why it was there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,370 ✭✭✭b757

Maintenance with Shannon Aerospace, it's a different aircraft than what arrived earlier.

QR 3252, a Qatar Airways A320 passing north of Dublin at the moment from Bucharest. I guess it's heading to Shannon.

    No, another aurora flight.

January 18th, 2015 (Sunday) Stansted Airport SAS Radisson, airport

Next one is tomorow night out of Bristol; probably with Easyjet or BM Regional.

Maintenance check flights don't go that far north, too risky should anything go awry that far from base.

Thanks for the screenshot, arubex :)

    No prob :)

Opinion on the aurora flights is mixed; some people have been fortunate to see an aurora, through a small airliner window*.

But many flights return without any aurora being spotted, and there's no refund...

I think it's probably more cost-effective to take a two-day trip to Iceland; if there's no aurora then you can still visit the geysers!

    * it is awesome, as I experienced on EIN124 over the Atlantic a few years ago

Flybe are having a run of bad luck

Three planes from HKG will be landing one after the other at LHR. None of the other aircraft on screen are heading for Heathrow.

BA26 (A380-841) is selected in the screen shot. The two following directly behind are:
    • VS201 (A340-642)
    • BA28 (B777-36N)

I'll be on BA26 departing Hong Kong tonight (Tuesday). Due into London Wednesday morning. :)

I would agree, its a huge cost for a possible decent viewing

Flybe Cologne to Birmingham at 7700 now on approach to Birmingham.

hopefully its nothing serious, its been a rough time for them.

update - hasnt gone in for a direct landing, appears to be circling or waiting (perhaps burning fuel)..

I was flying SFO to Dublin (EI) in October and had my noise cancelling headphones in while listening to my iPod. Cabin was asleep and to me, everyone started racing over to my side of the aircraft. I was at a window. There was a moment of panic when I though the engine was on fire or something!

Turns out the pilot had come on to say the AB was viewable on my side of the aircraft! It looked stunning, was not how I expected it at all! A photo doesn't do it justice. It really is like lights dancing across the sky. Unfortunately it proved impossible to take a photo or video of from the cabin. :(

Waterford - Birmingham circling as well

Cologne flight landed safely, just seems to be delays

youd assume thats circling to allow a clear airfield for the first one.

its gone off the radar, as it went below 5,000 ft apparently but the approach it took was very strange.

Aer Lingus pilot, Bram Jansen, caught the auroa on a recent SFO-DUB flight. Looks beautiful.

I bet all those flights that go from JFK to Hong Kong must get amazing aurora sightings. You can see the flights on F24 in the evening. They go up the west coast of Greenland and over the north pole.

Most like belong to Cobham who have 6 of these aircraft based at Durham Tees Valley Airport (MME). They carry out electronic countermeasure flights for the RAF.

    No.

Also, does anyone else see the irony of people turning up to a place in 1,700 jets to discuss climate change?
