You can bet that Iona would be screaming and whinging about bias if a pro-marriage equality spokesperson was solely selected to speak about how things have gone in Britain.

In the irish legal definition of marriage does it specifically say that marriage is between a man and a woman?
No , it's between a 'comely maiden' and a Garsoon , it was DeValeras constitution afterall.

I haven't followed this debate - but it looks like the question going to the public is confused.

Why are gay people trying to be married - they can already have a civil partnership ?

I'm confused - I can see this being rejected.

I take it you are straight. Would you settle for a civil partnership?

any thoughts on Stephen Fry's marriage to a guy 30 years younger. I like the guy but I would say it if he married a girl that age, it took me back a bit.

A lot of people were taken aback I think, but if Britney's Vegas marriage doesn't represent straight marriages then Stephen's shouldn't represent gay ones!

But - what do you call a union between a man and a women now.

A bit daft - in fact, flawed logic to look for a marriage.

Of course, a bill of additional equal rights would have been passed within the term civil partnership. But, telling people in a marriage , that they are not now in a marriage - is not going to be passed.

    Daft and confused logic.
    Missed opportunity.
