rumours (most likely complete bollocks) of a possibility of £40m plus DDG for Gareth Bale.

if offered, would you do it?

Would hate to see De Gea go and would massively depend on who would replace him. But it would value him round 60-70m which would be bout right IMO....

if de gea has said to united he wants to leave at the end of the season, I don't see why not, ball is in his court, he is going to be offered biggest contract in the world for a goalkeeper but if he has told united he wants to go in the summer I would love to see bale join.

I do agree that when we play with 4 the back there's a massive lack of balance in the squad. Do people not remember Leicester?

    Yes.

But I can't see it. If DDG doesn't sign a new deal then he'll be worth ~£25m with 1 year left on his contract. £65m for Bale would be a bargain in the current market.

No way would Real do it though. The only way the deal at that price would be feasible is if DDG signs a new deal.

Rumour is Adidas wants Messi out of Barcelona, after studies show most fans associate him with Nike rather than Adidas. Adidas pay him €18 million a year so that is not good.
Rumours is Adidas would incentivise the club who bought him, whether that be United, Chelsea or Bayern Munich.

With big money being involved, I wonder if Adidas would want to keep sponsoring Messi if he stays at the Nou Camp and for most people to associate him with the Nike logo.

United went Spanish speaking and we seem to be linked with Argentinians all the time now.
Messi has been involved in either goal scoring or assisting in over half of all of the goals Barcelona scored this season.

Most outrageous prediction for me this year for United: United sign Messi with a huge fanfare by Adidas of how they are the brand who sponsor Messi, they are the brand who have the biggest sponsorship deal in the world with Manchester United and how these combined to bring (in the supposed words of Adidas) all this together to bring Messi to United.

We all suspect Adidas will want the sponsorship of United to be making headlines to justify their three quarters of a billion sterling sponsorship.

I think he signs another deal, whether he stays is another thing altogether.

My concern is that I can imagine a future were Messi signs for United for a record breaking fee, whipping every single fan and pundit up into a frenzy for the entire summer until we're sick of hearing about it... and then completely flops.

Messi is used to having everything his own way and having a say in the running of Barcalona. How this is taken anymore then him reminding certain people at the club of his power, is beyond me.

And to think people bow on the ground he walks on, and completely shield him from genuine scurtiny over his behaviour and attitude. Yet when Ronaldo goes looking for a new deal you'd swear he was the scum of the earth.

Would I love Messi? Of course. Do I think he will move this summer? No. Would I have concerns if we did sign him, yes, massive ones.

I'd say Enrique will be sacked end of season and someone will rub Messi's belly with a fistful of Euros and all will be well for the next 6 months.

Will Valdes get a game Friday night?

I wonder if we'll also see the dreaded 3-5-2 as we try to nullify Cambridge:rolleyes:
Now he has everybody fit, there's no reason why we can't play 4-3-3,LVG says it's his preferred formation so there's no excuse to not employ it.

It was from AS in Spain, but they have him going to Bayern Munich.

If I had to put real money on this myself, I would take the safe option and place my money he stays, if I had the use of someone else's money I would say he leaves :D

It would be no harm to give him a game, hopefully lessons learned on Saturday...

I think we're going to be stuck mainly with the 352 for the rest of the season now tbh. Quite annoying.

That's some insane tin foil hattery Robert.
So crazy it might just work.

It just sounds like one of those stupid sport bible articles though.

They might be ready to offload for a mountain of cash after the presidential elections.

They might be getting fed up of each other and Barcelona are no longer delivering Ballon dors to Messi...

Surely 4-4-2 on Friday and we win the game in the first half.

If not I will say it shows how Van Gaal is still haunted by the MK Dons game combined with the crazy Leicester game.

One of the main points for the Presidential candidates for Barca is keeping Messi. The front runners will be and are promising how they will keep Messi at the club.

Smacks of Ronaldo coming back, and how all these theories started surfacing of how it will be financed etc.

And as outragous as this would sound, I think we could do better for the squad putting "Messi Money" into the actual team, rather then signing Messi.

for the money you'd pay for Messi you could get the likes of Reus, Muller, Gotze, Hummels and Robben. Just some names of the top of my head.

**** this, I'm not even going to subscribe to this debate, these MEssi stories are outragous

Agree, I would be happier keeping De Gea, getting in Godin and Varane, maybe Schneiderlin who is very consistent, sign Falcao maybe get a cheaper deal if possible and someone like Robben, maybe Dybala to replace RVP.
I would just love Godin most of all right now.

Arsenal and Liverpool are circling around Falcao according to some papers.

We'd be nuts to let a player of his calibre go after we have gotten him in the door.

Make him a centre piece attacker and give him a bloody long run in a team playing a normal formations ffs. They guy will deliver and then some in that scenario.

I'll lose my sh1t if he leaves to another EPL team after one season of mis-use in a fcuk1ng 5-3-2!

Neville is going over the whole 352/433 tonight on MNF

Hopefully he tears into Van Gaal

    A MUST WATCH :-)

might get the fancy popcorn and vanilla coke for this one

from what I saw, Falcao was excellent at the weekend. Should've had at least a hat-trick, but I don't think any of your other strikers would've made the runs that he did.

i'd love if he didn't stay on with United.

Liverpool will be looking at Falcao but it won't happen, then they will be looking at Benzema but it won't happen, then they will be looking at Cavani but it won't happen... Then they will buy Dwight Gayle.

Seemingly the club are going to go back and revisit the deal that is in place, from early in the season. Everything was done and dusted, with United having the option to enact the deal end of loan.

Obviously with injury, form and return, it's wise that the club revist the original deal, which at present doesn't look to be much value.

Personally felt Falcao and Wilson linked up extremely well. Would like to see the duo together more often.

While I agree that it is too early to cast him aside I don't think it's fair to say that the only reason he hasn't shown his qualities is because of Van Gaal's system. He has had about ten clear cut (some verging on easy) chances that he has failed to put away so far in his Utd career which have had absolutely nothing to do with any systems. Plain and simple poor finishing. He needs to sharpen up his finishing. He's had a decent run lately and on Saturday he was still missing git edged chances.

    true story.

you forgot the part where we'll pay £15m for him.
