@bangkok, I could put up some pretty damning stuff about Mourinho's time at Real and Chelsea as well and they way they ended for him, doesn't mean I wouldn't want him as a manager.

Falcao won't stay here. LVG is obsessed with pace... Di Maria up front in a 3-5-2, sigh. Obvious I know but its disappointing.

This will always mean Ronney in MF or in the hole and Falcao not getting a fair run.

He has repeatedly said that he describes his philosophy in his book. Has anyone read it?

Potentially tetchy subject, but I have serious beef with how in some quarters the opinions of fans who travel to away games, or sections of the home crowd, are valued above those who don't attend OT and the likes.

Maybe not the point bangkok was making, but it really, really annoys me.

I always see the most 'hardcore' fans as being the most biased and not being able to see the bigger picture. They always think they know best because they are the soul of the club.

Typically don't put much weight into Savage's commentary or narration, and to be fair I don't think he's making any wild calls there.

Would tend to agree with most of them. Like Cleverly and Anderson before them, I've been tempering my patience with Smalling and Jones. Something is there in Jones, I just feel there is. Smalling makes me very uneasy, just has the look of a dopey coaster. Obviously thats a big leap on my part, but I just don't feel at ease when he plays.

Evans I've never been overly impressed with, streak of good form a few seasons ago or not.

Yeah, can't say I'm a fan of the attitude; it typically seems to crop up when someone feels they want to negate the opinions of someone else (not saying it's what's happening here, just a general comment). I have a sneaking feeling a warning was issued about such an attitude before I became a mod...

Sorry to clarify my beef isn't with here, it's an attitude held in the English media. Even heard it a few times on Sunday Supplement this morning and it doesn't make me laugh, it irritates me.

It's frequently used also as this sort of line by journalists "Well speaking to some fans around Old Trafford"...and then use that as a line to re-enforce their own opinion, but also using it as some standard bearer for opinion or traction.

That's ignoring the garbage that emerges around transfer windows where someone knows someone who is a season ticket holder and knows a lad who works on the food kiosks, who told him him transfer gossip.

Ballague (my phone autocorrects it to Ballbag :pac:) says Valencia have rejected a €35m offer for Otamendi from us

the story is true according to Miguel Delaney.

Otamendi is an all action center back from Argentina from what i remember, would be a strange one as i believe he was a free agent during the summer and now we are going for him for £30million???

Lads are we to take it for granted that anything but top 4 and LVG will be gone? ..

Here's a thought, how many players have we in the squad that could be regarded as leaders on the field?

Rooney and not much else.Apart from him,I've never seen such a meek set of players take to the field.Nobody else seems to be of the mindset to shout and carry the team when needed. We've always had these characters in the team but now they are lacking.
Look at what happens when we concede, shoulders slump and players look at the ground,no rallying cry or even an argument.De Gea roars at his defenders and they turn their backs and stroll off, didn't happen too often before but it's as if the current crop feel immune to criticism and as a result make the same mistakes time after time yet not one will step up.

he SHOULD be, but he wont. club wont want to be paying out another year of contract terminations, the Moyes fiasco probably cost about £10million in severance packages, on top of what it cost to get rid of the Fergie crew (£6m according to the EOY finance).

with a drop in revenue of about £25m expected, last thing the club needs is another hole in our finances next May. LVG brings stability also to the club.

I would think another year out of the CL could easily be taken by the finances of the club .. If anything it's the image of being out is where the problems would be far worse.

I agree I think whatever happens LvG will be manager next season although I am still confident of finishing the season well - if LVG can forget this 3 at the back I think we will be fine for 3rd.

Good interview with Nev here: http://strettynews.com/exclusive-gary-neville-speaks-stretty-news/

“This season Louis van Gaal has come in. A great coach and someone that worked all over Europe. He’ll get them good on the ball, good defensively, in good positions to receive the ball, opening their body out and passing forward with composure. For Luke it’s perfect. The manager believes in attacking full-backs and Luke is fantastic going forward. Luke is powerful, quick and hugely talent. Then you want to get a grip on him and mould him into a world-class player.

Then with the likes of Smalling, Jones and Evans we still have great hopes for that penny to drop.

The last sentence says it all.

    Neville on carrick.....

“I love Carrick. I have respect for Carrick. You never hear anyone that’s played with Carrick at Manchester United have a bad word to say about him. Ultimate professional, understanding and loves the club by the way. Don’t get bought into this ‘Michael Carrick doesn’t show passion’ and all that crap. He loves Manchester United. You see him on a team night out when we won the league and he can be the loudest of the lot. So, the idea that Michael Carrick just comes in as a bit of a mouse that does his job unnoticeably is rubbish.
“If you look at Louis van Gaal at the start of the season and we were struggling, ask yourself who wasn’t playing? Michael Carrick wasn’t playing. Now he’s playing and the club went on a great unbeaten run. I think he would be first or second on Louis van Gaal’s team-sheet because he brings control and authority.
“Manchester United fans get it. I wanted Bryan Robson and someone to run through brick walls and coming out with bandages wrapped around his head. That’s what Manchester United fans want.
“But then when you play with Michael Carrick you think there is authority, control, peace. When you are on a football pitch playing against Liverpool or Manchester City, you need peace around you as well. You sometimes don’t want people running around like blue-arse flies. Scholes and Carrick together was peaceful. It was like going into a bar and hearing a piano playing. It’s relaxing. Listening to some good rock is good and you like that too but sometimes it’s nice to listen to a piano. Carrick’s a piano. There you go, there’s your line.

    Balance

Been saying it all season, the best thing LVG could do for his balance is stop trying to squeeze 3 strikers into his team. Rooney up top, Mata, Di Maria and Herrera behind him, and then 2 from Carrick, Blind or Felliani holding the middle.

rumours (most likely complete bollocks) of a possibility of £40m plus DDG for Gareth Bale.

if offered, would you do it?
