Just heard Stephanie Roche on The Last Word talking about the Puskas Awards, and it prompted me to go over to Fifa.com and give her a vote of support. But I really don't think I can vote against this goal...

As well as being the genuine best goal out of the 3 I.M.O., it now has United all over it; Sublime ball from Blind, finish from RVP, and an elated LVG at the end for the high five.

Can't wait to see Blind back in action for us, be it this weekend or next.

I like her to win but I feel she shouldn't, rvp goal, equaliser in a world cup game, Rodriguez, goal that sealed Colombias place in the 1/4 final of the world cup, where her goal was in a small Irish league, there is a massive gap in competition, don't get me wrong its an amazing goal

I dont think it's as good as the other two anyway.

The award is for the most aesthetically nice goal though from what I can see. I do like RVP's though too on that merit.

Will Blind get into team with Carrick available. Maybe/maybe not ? Probably not

I think there's a thread elsewhere for this so I won't say too much apart from I pretty much agree with you. In fairness to Roche, she has displayed unbelievable technique and it is one of the sweetest goals I've enjoyed watching on video recently, however RVP's is out of this galaxy.

He had ample time and space to chest it down and pick a spot to drill it with his magnificent left foot, but the vision to see the keeper off his line, then the confidence to take on the header and exectution to actually pull it off; You don't really see that kind of goal too often, whereas with James' and Roches' goals, 'sweet first touch and then strike' sort of goals from just inside and outside the box are quite prominent in the top leagues on a weekly basis.

It is quite likely though that I'm looking at this with red, white and black-tinted glasses, and I was in Amsterdam watching the game when RVP scored also :D

I like what Blind offers a bit more than Carrick in the current iteration of the team.

Ibrahimovic is the king of class goals.

Berba got a few peaches for monaco too.

I would love RVP to win for his goal. Its possibly the best headed goal I've ever seen. That said if Roche wins it I won't complain!

like what? blind has played it very safe so far as highlighted by the lads on MNF... no way at this moment is he better than carrick. Carrick along with de gea would be my and id imagine van gaals first 2 names on the team sheet along with rooney

Like the fact that the player in that position has to be very fast with the ball and I feel Blind is faster at receiving and passing on the ball than Carrick and is better for the teams fluidity.

His touch is better!!!! and he doesn't slow down play as much!!!!

    If that helps.

I think you are reading that wrong. If you read it like "faster at receiving and passing on the ball" it is better.. I agree with that, he is a lot quicker at getting the ball and moving it up the pitch..

nonsense, the majority of blinds passes have been safe passes sideways or backwards while carricks are the exact opposite hence a major improvement in results since he has come back into the team. its not a coincidence we win the majority of our games with carrick in midfield

Wouldn't mind seeing Carrick at CB and Blind at CDM, like when all our CB's break down again

Would rather Carrick then Blind myself for the time being.

Carrick offers far better protection to the back 3 or 4 at present, and his positioning since he came back has been super, especially in big games like Arsenal.

and i would bet that if carrick was playing the leicester game we would have got 3 points seeing as we were 3-1 up and blew it

Its hard to tell as it was a freakish game all round.

I like Blind, but right now Carrick is a much better option or least a proven one.

I would love to have blind and carrick in the same team.

    Blind/fellaini Carrick/Herrera

    Mata Rooney Di Maria

    RVP/Falcao

Much better balance to the team.

just to state, i think blind is a fantastic player and delighted we got him, you will also see major improvement with him over the next few seasons when he adjusts to the pace of the league and is 100% familiar with his surroundings at united, but at the moment Carrick is the better option in midfield if its between both of them but no doubt both can play in the same midfield depending on the opposition

With nearly everyone fit it's going to be intriguing to see the line up and shape particularly the defence. 3 or 4 at the back...width or a narrower diamond and what is the striking pecking order with all of them match fit??

if all match fit, you have to find a way of getting rooney falcao and van persie all into the team, i feel now we have di maria that mata is the one who is going to lose out

No you dont, you pick the best team. You dont have an obligation to shoehorn players into an unbalanced side.

Didn't Van Gaal play Blind down the left as a wing back at the world cup, wonder will we ever see him deployed in that position for United?

yea but that is rooney in the no 10 behind rvp and falcao and thats where mata loses out imo

Blind will be benched as cover for both DM and LB methinks, especially with Young injured. I reckon, when Young comes back, Carrick will play CB and Blind will play DM and Young will take up the cover at LB.
