i did a basket of chips and there was enough for 3 people

how long does it take to cook basket of chips? I've been put off this and the tefal because they are small but if it doesn't take that long then it might still be an option...

for decent size chips the cook book says
    soak for 30 minutes
    pat dry
    tablespoon of oil
cook on 160 for 18 minutes
    shake
raise temp to 180 for 12 minutes, giving a shake halfway through

when i read this i thought it was a lot of messing but compared to frozen chips its well worth the effort and cheaper in the long run
i had a deep fat fryer years ago and hated the lingering smell
i wanted one for a while but the price was the killer

ditto - but there's 6 of us to feed and these yokes don't have the capacity for one batch cooking it looks like.

I like the idea of these devices but the size and space you need puts me off, I don't have a tiny kitchen or anything but no idea where you end up putting it without having to leave it sitting out.

put it in a cupboard if you don't want it sitting out, or get a pretty tea towel to cover it
we have a 3 month old so we have stuff sitting out all over the place now lol
it kind of blends in in the corner of our breakfast bar

wouldn't suit a family of six if you want to eat together, even a regular deep fat fryer would be a struggle i imagine
could always have 2 sittings for chips

It's only a thing to cover the washing machine and dryer
    Sound posh though lol

Do you have to take the basket out and shake it for everything you cook in this? I know you do for chips but how about say chicken or something like that?

An hour for chips:eek: I'd have chewed my hands off at that stage.

    Thanks OP.

I reserved one in Currys in Liffey Valley, but didn't need to, they had at least a dozen boxes out on display at the €119 price. (today)

Have the older model and its the best thing that ever came into the house, done roast potatoes in it for Christmas and they were nothing short of sexy.

You sold me on this and I went out and bought one of these. Got it in Currys Airside this evening, loads in stock , still 119.99 .

So tell us, whats the best method to get sexy roast potatoes out of my new actifryer.
    Thanks a lot.
