    Thanks for the insult!
(That nullified any "concern" you claim you have)

Your water charges protest thread is elsewhere.

That's not the insult. Read your post again and see that you insulted me directly. Disagree with anything I post, by all means, but when you adopt the cyber bully persona, you are gone, your arguments are worthless.

I'm big enough to be unaffected by an insult from a faceless cyber bully, you should be big enough to debate without stooping so low.

But some posters want to blame the Government? How can they do that if the trend is downwards?
There are always a few people who will blame the government for literally anything.
Lack of police resources is a factor (although the fact people flash to advise those booting it when there's a checkpoint ahead, doesn't help) and crap roads, but the main problem is people being dangerous drivers.
And nobody said that doesn't happen in Donegal (should have quoted, but it's back along). If there is an issue with this in Donegal, maybe people should address it rather than getting defensive about it.

What are you actually talking about?

I feel for those involved tonight. Especially the kids. I hope they recover well.
I was involved in something very similar myself and it's mentally draining. You don't need the physical marks to carry the scars.

where it happened there used to be one of them "accident black spot" signs. farranfore to Killarney is a disaster of a road, and everyone travels on it at 60- 80kph

A Sunday morning 3 or 4 weeks ago on the same bend where this accident happened, a Mercedes CLK flipped over on its roof after going out of control, driver of the car was lucky to come out of it without a serious injury. the bend is deceptive as it tightens sharply (coming from killarney)

Ya I remember the "accident black spot sign" that used to be there, now that you mention it..... i was going to ask "what happened to them signs"..... (see link)

it reads: THE National Roads Authority (NRA) has said it will no longer designate sections of roadway as 'black spots' because of the large numbers of accidents at specific locations.

Killarney to Farranfore is an utter disgrace of a road, the very fact you read of helicopters been used to move the injured is enough to tell you volumes about the disastrous road infrastructure that exists in Kerry.

There has been two multimillion dual carriage-way bypasses built in Kerry in recent years. Parish pump vanity projects seem to be the order of the day rather than overall road infrastructure.

The bypass of Tralee and the bypass of Castleisland were not parish pump vanity projects. Both towns were complete bottlenecks before they were built, and as for the overall road network in the country, both are essential components, particularly the Castleisland bypass. In fact, if the Castleisland bypass had been done properly it would have been extended out to link with the main Tralee - Killarney road, likely preventing this very accident.

4 helicopters were used and 1 aircraft was put on standby.

2 coastguard and 2 air corps helicopters landed and the air corp plane was on standby.

Anyone think this was a bit of an overreaction - one that could have put lives at risk if another incident required a Helo, e.g. a boat going down way offshore? Any of those birds would have had to go and refuel before being retasked and that could be vital. CUH is only a few minutes flying time and just one of those Sikorskys represents a lot of capacity. And before anyone shouts lives were at risk, of course I believe everything possible must be done to save lives but we're always dealing with finite resources and planning for the unpredictable is important.

Not at all. There are coastguard helicopters based in Dublin, Waterford, Shannon and Sligo, and then you have the air ambulance, and the air corps smaller helicopters.

Only 2 of the coastguard helicopters were used as far as I'm aware, so the sea's were still covered.

They have to use all the resource available, because I dont imagine Kerry has 14 ambulances.

I know it's pathetic. The Gardai have their priorities all over the shop.

shouldnt you be directing your anger at the people who are breaking the law and attacking these workers as opposed to blaming the gardai?
