If not, who would you transfer in?

Might be better to list all your def and GK and how much in the bank to get a better more informed answer to your question

Depends how likely you are to be able to field 11 if you don't make both. I would try not to take a hit for either of those two if possible.

    DDG - McCarthy

    Azpil - Clichy - Wisdom - Duff - Yun

    £1.3m ITB

Doesn't sound like the right thing to do as there is no attacking threat whatsoever from them so all I'm hoping for is a cleanie.

    However with
    Wisdom playing City
Clichy - Not likely to start
Azpil - Most likely to be rotated with Luis

I could end up with no defence!

Saying that what about either to Luis to cover my arse?

Yikes yeh you definitely need to bring in reinforcements! I think a hit is marginal as the two players aren't going to pick up a whole heap of points in the next 3/4gws and the others you do have will hopefully chip in with a few minutes. I would just make the one transfer and then hope you get a game from one of Azpi and Clichy to make up your 3 at the back.

O'Shea is on 4 yellows and Toure is by no means a starter, Lovren and Sakho bost cost 15m+. Toure may even be going to African Nations Cup in Jan.
Maybe Hutton? 4.3 and while away to Swansea he then has 2 nice home games and first team place relatively secure.
Taking a hit for budget defenders not really recommended.

If I move for two defenders I only have the budget for Toure (4.7). If I move for 1 I will be looking at Sakho. Lovren is injured. I'm looking only ahead to the next 3 GW's as I will have wildcard to sort it out

So Azpil or Clichy - Wisdom (v West Brom) and then one of O'Shea / Vergini / Toure / Sakho / Hutton?

Obviously start both Clichy and Azpil!

I really have made a mess of my defence

Yeh that would be my play if we didn't have the WC coming up then you could take a longer term approach and think it will pay itself back over 10 GWs or so but right now there is no long term so a hit for a budget defender is unlikely to be a profitable you need to get lucky for it to pay off over just a few weeks and they could well get rotated themselves!

i was defo doing it after Saturdays match he looked so sharp and Rooney was so deep.
then I had an unexpectedly good Sunday and Monday game so I put my sensible hat on and said I'd bank it to give me two for the 28th.
    I've come full circle again!!!!
if I bring him in its because I think he will score well so I may as well captain him ........
problem is will he start the following game ..........my thinking is that if he scores well he can't be dropped and if he does not we will know the team sheet anyway so I'll sell him for Austin/jovetic cos someone has to make way for one of them anyway.
it could be a waste of a transfer ......or fantastic :D
should point out Rooney has a great record against Newcastle though

My thoughts exactly about the captaincy and then knowing the team for the Spurs game and being able to transfer back out if he doesn't start that game. I'll be waiting till close to the deadline to make the move as I'd still have slight doubts of Falcao starting so hopefully something might leak out ahead of the newcastle game.

Stupid Yun injury means I need to move him on instead of banking the FT (Moore is my other bench defender). I've got 4.7m to spend and am thinking of: Hutton/Clark, Robertson, Vergini, or Toure. Leaning towards Ciaran Clark since I don't need the defender to start this week but would then want them over Clyne the next two GWs.

Hazard reported to be fine, rest for either is up in the air really

Be nice to hear something on them but I doubt we will! Fingers crossed they both play or else I am in big trouble!!

From banking this transfer, I'm now looking at taking a -4 by doing RVP to Benteke and Brady (stupid transfer) to Silva. Would leave me with the following for this week:

    Panti
    Terry Bertrand Gibbs Wisdom Dummett
    Yaya Silva Hazard Sanchez Siggy
    Benteke Bony Austin

Will come down to benching either Austin or Siggy but would feel good having a decent sub to come on in the event Sanchez is rested. Could then follow up with another -4 for Sunday by doing Bertrand to Zab and Gibbs to Hutton as Arsenal and Southampton's fixtures take a turn while City's and Villa's improve.

I'm not afraid of taking hits if I feel they're warranted but am doing quite well so far and don't want to undo all the good work by making poor choices at such a vital time. Anybody have any thoughts on these moves?

    Any advice on this guys?

Just done Duff to O'Shea there. Gives me good options for my defence over the next few GW's.

Hopefully a clean sheet v Hull now.

    Isn't O'shea on 4 yellows?

I think it's a GW too early for the RvP to Benteke move unless you really want Silva.

Normally I would be loath to take a hit to take out a player like RVP as he could explode at any time but with Falcao looking likely to get minutes and Silva doing so well last time out and having two plum home fixtures coming up it does make it a lot more appealing! Also helps that Silva & Tekkers look to be two of the players least likely to get rotated.

Who stays in the citeh team when Kompany comes back? Demichelis or Mangala?

Dec 26/28 is the only time of year it's bad to have 5 attacking midfielders/wingers. They seem to be the most prone to rotation. Just hang in there and pray for 2 GW's.

    I'll definitely consider this now!

Just found this http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-boss-too-many-injuries-8342629! Thanks. I'll be moving him on.
He's also likely to be off on Asian Cup duty from early Jan to early Feb

Edit: Scratch that, he didn't make the squad

That's my feeling exactly, was just about to post my options but you've read my mind!!

    My front 8 currently is..
    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Downing, Boyd
    RVP, Costa, Bony.

As per my plan in the Xmas prep thread I was gonna bank and go without City cover till next GW. I'd come back towards taking a hit this week instead, but now I'm between the two.

    Option 1
RVP to Benteke, Boyd to Silva. Gives me the city cover, and good strong front 8 for Xmas rotation. But no United cover and as Ziegler says a week early for Benteke really.

    Option 2
Stick to my guns and bank the the transfer. This means I can go Boyd, Costa and RVP to Silva and any two strikers I want (Falcao, Jovetic, Benteke, Austin) for -4 in Gw19.

Leaning towards option 2 as I feel Hazard, Sanches band RVP will play this week, and god knows who will get injured or suspended this week. It is probably more valuable to be able to make changes to set up for gw19.

Is it crazy to go without City attackers for another week though?!

No, West Brom is not an easy game. They will be well setup.

I don't think City cover is vital against West Brom. I'm not expecting City to score more than two goals and none of them are in the top 5 of either the FSA or FFS captaincy poll. I would go option 2 since I'm assuming the money doesn't work out if you replace RvP with Costa in option 1.

Am I crazy dropping Hazard for Yaya. Two alternatives I can see to have both (Hazard and Yaya) is (i) to drop Schneiderlin or Siggy for Yaya and drop Costa for Pelle. But that only leaves me with Bony, Austin, and Pelle upfront. Or (ii) drop Sanchez, meaning I keep Costa up front with Austin and Bony, saving my self a 4 pt hit.

    Thoughts?

Anyone, this is causing a bit of a head scrather.

I'd wait a week and keep Costa & Hazard for now and then bring in Yaya next week for their two home games. Costa isn't part of my long term plans so I don't think losing him is too big a deal.

Thanks guys. I think Ziegler is right, it might be a GW too early. Bit afraid of Silva running riot again but at least I have Yaya as City cover. Benteke and Silva in then for free next GW before their nice home fixtures makes sense. Though I might take a -4 for Bertrand to a City defender.

I would much rather Sanchez or Hazard to Yaya, beware of Pelle's next few fixtures also, it's unlikely they'll be scoring much goals.
I haven't seen your full team but from what you've outlined I'd leave well alone if that's the only way to bring in Yaya. Hazard could well miss out this week but I'm not so sure that Yaya won't miss some gametime either.

one other thing worth considering is that even the likes of George Boyd who myself and many are relying on may well also be rotated !
that's why I'm not bothering upgrading Moore at this stage. he will likely come in for one game too! hopefully the one I need him for........there is a bit of luck needed the next 2 weeks

It's hard to believe Johnny Giles and the lads used to play for their PL club on a Saturday and get a boat to Ireland that evening to play for their country on Sunday some weeks.

    **** the rotation they needed!

    Sigurdsson is back.

May hold off on a transfer out and take the extra hit on value of 0.1.

Only decision now is whether to do Rooney out, Falcao/Bony/Benteke in for -4.
