    Another 'conspiracy theory' is the 'people planted in our lives' one. This could be to spy on us, test us, see what our reaction in certain situations is, etc.

    Yes, I have had 4 almost identical so-called friends in my life one after another, seemingly unrelated but who pretend to be nice at first and then for no reason turn nasty. However, I believe this is more to do with paranoid issues they have and me being the only person to be kind to them than any CT.

    Are you sure of this?

    Jawgap, what exactly did Saudi Arabia do to create this price drop? Its not as if they massively increased their production.

    Not only have they increased production - by 0.2m barrels/day in October, but they have also cut crude price for 4 months in a row.

    Their own consumption has also gone up.

    So the amount that they are releasing to the market appears to be less.

    I think I have already been got at by aliens. Any time I read or hear anything about economics or oil supplies or Russia/China//USA politics my brain goes kinda mushy and floaty and I cannot follow it. Obviously I have the secrets to world peace and prosperity locked up in there and aliens (or the CIA) have implanted me with something to stop me sorting out all the problems of the world.

    Edit - my brain even went fuzzy trying to type that, otherwise it would have been a coherent and well constructed sentence.

    I sometimes think that the economic crash was designed by the US to kill the euro ... theyd take a hit in the short term too, but in the long term one less competitor. Any future attempt at euro currency 2.0 would be shouted down by critics pointing at the earlier fail. Conclusive proof of the conspiracy is no euro sign on many keyboards.

    I think that 9/11 was orchestrated by Islamist elements of the lower echelons of the Saudi royal family. The Bush administration was aware of this, but given the close ties between the Bush's and the Saudi King, and the strategic importance of Saudi to the US, they colluded to blame it on Bin Laden, et all, and being opportunists, decided to rope Iraq into the blame for the oil.

    Basically I think the reported version and typical CT version of this event are both fantasies.

    That's precisely it. bin Laden family are among the Saudi royals' associates as well and Osama was the black sheep (the rest of the family were friends of Bush associates). Saudi Arabia was one of few countries (all official US allies: UA Emirates and Pakistan being the only others) to recognise the 1996-2001 Afghan regime that was to all intents and purposes controlled by Osama bin Laden. bin Laden was tied into it surely but he was not the real leader as he was working for the lower, embittered elements of the royal family.

    Iran-Contra showed up the devious true relations between the US and other places. The Revolutionary Guards regime of Iran was supposedly a US 'enemy' but was in power 9 years by this time and is still in power today. This does NOT happen real enemies of the West, who are turfed out very quickly. The RGs regime was allowed to remain in power since 1979 because the US found and finds it useful or have no alternative to replace it.

    Why is the RG regime in Iran useful? Because it is not very intelligent (other than the presidency and elected parts which has given us intelligent people like Khatami and the current president) and is fractured by infighting and thus prevents another superpower (Iran lead by an intelligent and unfractured government would with its resources rise very high) forming. Also, RGs are a bulwark against Sunni extremism and of course originally Soviet comm.

    The whole Iran-Iraq war was a bonanza for arms industry. The US arms industry of course supplied both sides. The aim was to keep 2 would be superpowers fighting forever and making the backyard of the USSR unstable.

    The Contras were a drug dealing rebel group fighting against, you guessed it, communists in Central America. Iranian money was laundered to these on the quiet.

    All this embarrassed Reagan's government and I noticed that after that, Reagan's regime when 180 degree turn from hardline to very very moderate overnight!! He even kissed and made up with the 'evil empire' as he called the USSR.

    Strange thing is, yekahs later changed his username to that of a Jewish leader and was subsequently site banned. There is apparently no link between the name change and the banning, or is there ??. The mind boogies. ;)
