What sort of silly narratives/conspiracies do you formulate to yourself?

    For example;
I think the current collapse of the Russian Economy has been engineered by the US, EU and China to dismatle the Russian Federation so that they can gain access to the vast reserves of natural resources within the states borders.

EU is gonna get western russia, China will get the Center and the U.S. will get the far east and call it New Alaska. This has likely been a plan long in the making, with the first moves being the destabilisation of the Ukrainian state and the implementation of agents to encourage the seperatist actions that Russia would be oblidged to protect to maintain the image of protecting their own citizens.

**This theory does ignore the invasion of Crimea, that didn't happen, shhh**

I think it's plausible drug lords have the political clout to keep drugs illegal thus protecting their enterprise. There's just too much money in the illegal drug business to have no influence on policy making. We're talking over 300 billion dollars each year generated in this trade.

Nope - its down to the Saudis who are trying to screw the Iranians by turning on the oil taps - the Russians because of western sanctions are just collateral damage in all this. They're also relatively well insulated - they've a cushion of about 10 months of foreign currency reserved.

Once the Iranians get the message about staying the fúck on their side of the Gulf and once the Saudis have driven a few more shale oil/gas producers out of business ($80 per barrel is their breakeven), they'll turn off the taps and we'll be back to $100 a barrel oil.

I like the one where its claimed the US bombed themselves at Pearl Harbour to drum up support for entry into the war as public opinion was for neutrality. Its put forward that the carriers were not in port for their strategic value and why the Japanese fleet was not picked up on radar. Also why they didnt destroy the oil reseves there too.

...at which point North American shale becomes financially viable again, increasing world supply. So the Saudis panic again, and start slapping around any poor twonk within slapping distance, and all these asshole countries like Russia and Iran and Venezuela will be left reeling and lurching hither-and-yon into the future while Western Europe and the U.S. enjoy relatively stable, controlled oil prices. All is well under Heaven, exactly as predicted and engineered by evil genius Nicola Tesla. Hell yeah!!

This. Particularly the US "fracking" producers. Once these guys, who are all leveraged to the hilt, are put out of business by cheap oil, the Saudis have their power back.

The Saudis aren't panicking - they've been very considered about this and have been very frank about the foreign currency reserves they've built up.

Their main target is Iran - the message is "we can keep this up for the next 18 months, we don't need high prices like you."

The 'attack' on US producers is secondary but there is some feeling that when oil goes back up, not as many will come back on stream because if the Saudis did it once, they can do it again - some investors won't want that uncertainty.

None any more. But the Truman Show pretty much entirely reflected a weird feeling I had in my life around the age of 15. It actually felt like the writers of the film had climbed into my head and taken the entire plot of the film of the mild delusions I was having at the time.

China hasn't sanctioned Russia, in fact they are both making deals with each other.
Don't see China wanting their land.

The old classics are the best. All of the mentality surrounding the Kennedy Assassination, 9/11, the CIA and all that. They're the best ones.

Pretty sure our milk man has substituted the old hard to open cartons with so-called "one-click" cartons , in order to weaken everyone's muscles so that we will be unable to resist when we are invaded, possibly by giant daddy long legs from outer space!

I like the Scott Westerfeld Film Plot idea: 97% of the world's scientists contrive an environmental crisis, but are exposed by a plucky band of billionaires & oil companies.

I think overall it all is about the West v Russia. China is kind of there too loosely aligned to Russia but also there for the West. Sitting on the fences perhaps. Anyhow, the likes of Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Iran are all proxies for both who want to control them. The US clearly has Saudi and Iraq remains a mess but Russia was aligned to the others in the past but we all know the US is doing its best to get these too.

I believe too that both sets of superpowers want to keep others out. Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia are potential superpowers if their economies were more advanced. Iran and Iraq got closest in the late 1970s but revolutions and wars conveniently came their ways and set them back 100 years. Saudi Arabia remains a 100% petrostate and money is not really rolled into its economy and is only shared among an elite. Royals and big businesses. The superpowers like to get their oil from these and make themselves rich.

I responded to the political ones above (they all resolve around wars to make one country rich at the expense of another). But the conspiracy theories I enjoy most are the Elvis is alive ones.

Can anyone point me towards some recent good ones. Elvis is 80 in January too so we are bound to here some newbies here !!

One of the mods in the airsoft section is ment to be an "Irish army ranger" and the rest of the mods ban anyone who questions this. Seems a bit of a mad one.

Why would an actual soldier be bothered with grown ups who's hobby (not 'sport' ;) ) is dressing up and playing soldiers?

    :pac:
