If you can hear it from upstairs, it ain't a mouse.

It could be a big mouse.

The old fashioned wooden traps caught us a whole family of mice in November.

If it's a burglar remember; if you go downstairs and kill them you could be done but if they come upstairs, let the boys play.

I have all the doors wide open though, so it's a fairly quiet robber if it's one of those.

Stand at the top of the stairs masturbsting furiously, while shouting I am the backwards man, I have notified the internet.

A mouse is better for Windows.

Off topic, but that's the worst thing in case of fire - you really should close all doors before going to bed.

Hide under the covers. If you can't see him, he can't see you

What you need BM is a cat burglar to like, you know, get rid of the mouse and all.

Must be a mouse, very quiet down there this last ten minutes or so

Are your doors without handles. Have you difficulty In opening them. I suggest closing the doors and investing in 3-in-1 oil.

I could sing Air Supply down the stairs at them, that could work on either one.

It's a windy night you fool. You mustn't have battened down the hatches (whatever that phrase means).

Like all good phrases including 'keeping your eye on the ball' it's a nautical one:

And "cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey". That's a good one.

Damn, I'm wrong. Here was me repeating the nautical origins of this in a QI fashion and it turns out to be a myth :(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brass_monkey_%28colloquialism%29

You can kill a burglar and nobody will care, kill a mouse and you'll have PETA up in arms.
