You can't I'm afraid as they both go to one USB port
Thanks but I was doing something that let me plug in a usb key with a film and have it show up a few seconds later, couldnt get it to do it last night, Id plug in the key in the front port, it would say USB connected but all that would be there when I browsed to usb in PVR would be the old key in the back with the recorded tv on it, what do you do in that situation besides removing the old key after switching off the box and putting in the new one instead?

There isn't much can go wrong with the aerial, unless a part falls off or water gets into the cable connection.

Anyhow, it's off-topic for this thread, as it certainly doesn't seem to be a receiver fault.

Thanks a lot for your and everyone else's help.

My father has a load of recorded programmes he wants to keep, Im upgrading him to a 64 GB USB key this weekend, can I format the 64 GB USB key in the Ariva under USB PVR settings as I did before then stick the old and new USB keys in my laptop and copy the files over? Or should I do something else like convert them to avi first just to be sure?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,046 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

you can do that . look into an extension drive gives a lot more storage than a usb key

    something like this

Thanks, cant borrow those from work though :D

Ah he's alright it took him nearly 2 years to fill the 32 GB with stuff he wanted to save, Ill probably convert them to avi and stick them on his laptop for him anyway.

    Hi,
Can anyone provide me with a link to a SLY SD Channel List for the patched Ariva 250 please? I am updating a friends box over the coming weekend and unfortunately I will not have access to the box until the weekend to do a dump file and compile my own list for him.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,046 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

there tend to cause a lot of crashs . you may be better doing it manually , need to update the one i have a bit

    Hi Nowso,
Thanks for your reply and I am aware of what you speak of.

If anyone has any spare time on their hands I would appreciate if you have the latest patched firmware V1.26B7_patch, If you could perform an all channels blind scan on 28.2E and then dump to USB and upload? I know it's a lot I'm asking but i am stuck working for the week and I cannot get to the STB until sat morning. I could use the ariva editor on my laptop to configure your dumped Channel List.

That file will contain more than the channel list that the user will probably not want to share!!!!

Sorry I was misunderstood. I don't want anyone's cline or anything just a blind scan of 28E to get compiling on. I meant that I will be using it on the V1.26B7_patch version of the patched firmware is all. I have left plenty of channel lists / Images from my own Ariva120, Ariva 150, Amiko Mini combo and Amiko Alien 2 on boards for other users to aid them. And to be honest I have never even spared a thought to my cline being on them! I always deleted it whenever I remembered

    What's a cline then?

there are none of them on channel lists from the arriva

loading channels lists is the biggest cause of arrivas crashing and showing the ash problem

id always recommend doing your own channel list on an arriva

As Nowso says, messing with the firmware or channel list on any of these boxes can cause problems and cause the box to need reflashing.

That warning given, here is the full V1.26B7* patched firmware with full channel list categorised General, Movies, Doc, etc.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/n70h02mhjgf45vu/backup.abs?dl=0

    File is "backup.abs"

This is for the Ariva 250 ONLY. Use at your own risk!!!!!

Yes you are right and a major cause of that is by uprading old channel lists to newer firmware and visa versa. I have already downloaded the proper original latest firmware. I will then factory re-set and install the latest patched firmware. only then will I use the channel list as it comes from the same firmware as the one's I will be installing. This will solve the 'ASH' issue that is discribed. Cross-updating from different firmwares is a big no-no especially on ariva's as I have learned before.

Nonetheless thank you Avns1s for your assistance:D

1 when loading my box set up went to rgb + 540 should be yuv and 1080i 50

in setup Dvbt tuner was off should be on

I presume you mean My backup?

It was set to YUV and 1080i when I saved it.

Do you mean DVBT Power should be set to on? DVBT Tuner was again set to on as its in daily use for the saorview channels.

yes strange im not sure why .

The DVB-T power option switches on/off a 5 volts DC supply for an aerial amplifier.

If you don't have an amplifier that's relying on it, switching it on or off makes no difference.

I went back and had a look. I have the resolution set to 1080p as that works best with the tv the box is attached to.

I have the DVBT Power set to off as I don't need it.

In any case, all of these items are user preferences and can easily be altered to personal requirements by the user. Even the Display settings (brightness, contrast, etc) will require user intervention as what suits one set-up or taste may not suit the next. This copy exactly as they were in use on the box at the time of saving too.

    Hi,

I am little confused. I instaled the New Firmware 1.26b9 and since I did that I cannot get a connection from Satelite. This is not coming from my connection as it works on a normal sky box.

Is this the reason there is now a patch firmware update? Also, when I click on the patch link one above there are 2 links, 1 is 5.98 mb and the other obne 5.99 mb, which one should I take?

    Many thanks,

    Seb.
