I assume it's an extension of spanking.

Genuinely love this thread! Didn't know there was so many kinky people on boards, and then the vanillas come in and ask about caning. Oh the joys! But yeah, it's just a more extreme version of spanking, it allows means you don't tire out your own hand!

Vanilla huh? Just a term I have never come across before, wouldn't really consider myself vanilla though! :p

To be fair most would. If you weren't you'd know about caning, even that's probably still vanilla to some people.

    It sets a scary precedent.

oh thats true but the UK have been doing that for awhile now. For porn watchers though it changes nothing, until the government decides they are all to be rounded up for their deviant lifestyles that is.

Actually, all canes are specially designed so that you can't do any severe damage with them. They are meant to have maximum impact on the target area but no concussive force to do any serious internal damage. The more you know ;)

I know this is supposed to come across as a joke(hence the stick out tongue smiley)but to be fair its not coming across as funny.

This thread is kinda like the "hipster music" thing.
If you aren't into it, you are soooo not coooooollllllll.
Its coming across as anyone not into slapping about their partner, insulting them during sex(this cannot be that common here in Ireland, not a fukcking chance as I have been having sex longer than most of the posters on here have been alive and have NEVER had it done to me/I have never done it to a partner or heard anyone I know have it done to them :D),scat and other things, well then these people must be vanilla.

I am a firm believer of what goes on in the bedroom is between the people involved. Nobody elses business.

But to try to portray as mainstream, scat, and serious sexual aggression? I dont think thats the case. As I said before, to each their own. Just because you dont strangle your partner during intercourse, that doesn't make you vanilla ;)

Let's take this step-by-step because you raise some good points I want to address

In this context I think it is funny. I wouldn't ever condone touching my partner or anyone in a violent way. Whenever I have done anything physically (etc spanking) I always make sure I have consent to do so and that she knows she can stop at any time
This thread is kinda like the "hipster music" thing.

Firstly, I don't know (or pretend to know) what someone does in their bedroom or what they consider themselves. My definition of vanilla is going to be different to yours and many others because, well, put simply, I'm a kinky b*stard. Some people will think I go to far and others will think I am vanilla. Simple as. Your defintion stems from what you do and what you feel comfortable doing! It's not a set term. I (and another user) was using the term in jest. Also, you can be kinky without involving scat in play. Scat is something I would never go near in sexual play
I am a firm believer of what goes on in the bedroom is between the people involved. Nobody elses business.
I agree, however I also have the right to express what I am into sexually in a form that isn't offensive or harmful to others (by harmful I mean serious mental and emotional trauma). So, I am more than allowed on a thread such as this give my opinion and a taste of what I am into. I wouldn't give you all the sordid details. I also believe that talking about sex is a good thing. Society is still extremely sexually repressed from the Catholic Church days and that needs to change to stop things like teenage pregnancy, STD's and other sexual issues in society. But you are perfectly right in that no-one has a right to know what you get up to with your partner. You do, however, have the right to tell them.
But to try to portray as mainstream, scat, and serious sexual aggression? I dont think thats the case. As I said before, to each their own. Just because you dont strangle your partner during intercourse, that doesn't make you vanilla ;)
I don't think anyone has tried to say on here that scat or serious sexual aggression is mainstream. It's not. It comes back to my earlier point, it's all about where you are on the sexual spectrum that determines what you see as kinky or vanilla. And of course it doesn't. Again, you are free to do whatever you like with a consenting partner. You just want missionary? Fine! You want to have sex with multiple people at once? Fine! Do what makes you happy!

Again, I am agreeing with what you have said to a large extent above, I just think I need to clarify my opinion! It's also AH, so having a bit of fun is perfectly ok to!

I'm not going to repost all of your quote(for the sake of the thread :)).

My point is going by this thread and not just directed at you tbf, is that there seems to be some sort of "one-upsmanship" in the terms of declaration of sexual activities and the general bragging with regard to such between people.
I read the thread as it progressed today and that side of it is definitely there.
"I can shag 2 goats, 4 women and an aardvark in the one session and only use the paddle when they get naughty and anyone who doesn't is vanilla and only does the missionary" ;)

And to be fair, the sexual aggression I really don't get, but again its not my thing and wouldn't be a lot of peoples thing either.
I'm not talking hair pulling or light spanking here(which I would consider not too extreme and part of a lot of peoples sexual activity), but slapping, hitting etc???
To me, thats a no no. Crosses the line imo into fetishism so def not mainstream.

I agree that people have the right to sexual expression. I also think that with the right also comes the obligation of TMI. Blagging rights seem to be far too common these days. Not everyone wants to know what someone does with a carrot, an electrode and three women plus a goose on a Saturday night ;)

You'd actually be surprised at the amount of people who like bondage, choking, face slapping etc. in sexual play. It might only be an occasional thing but a lot more people than you think enjoy it

I didn't feel there was any one-upmanship on the thread but that's my personal opinion.

I'm not talking bondage, I'm talking hitting and slapping and choking. Not the norm. No way.
Being tied up with stockings etc is fairly tame and mainstream imo(ie bondage)during sex.

    Face slapping?
    No. That's not mainstream.

And i'm old enough not to be surprised by much sexually

Studies show that most people aren't vanilla. Jesus I hate the phrase vanilla. It's always used in the most condescending manner by the most condescending people.
The thing is that most people have some kind of paraphilia. They find something non sexual to be sexually arousing. It's actually a rarity that someone doesn't have one.

The science behind it is quite interesting. Did you know about the endorhpins that are released during s/m ?

I love the dialogue in British porn

"Go on stick your finger up my bum"

Reminds me of that leaked video of the English actress Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abbey saying, "I want to sniff your bum"

I have heard the demeaning stuff is popular with people in authority positions. They enjoy the freedom of losing control.

I briefly dated a ban garda and she had some pretty strange things she liked. Not so much fun being asked to do this in a house she shared with other cops.

Is the ghost of Mary Whitehouse wandering the halls of Westminster again?

What next? The banning of paint usage in art?

    they wouldn't join in no?

(on a serious note, you'd have to wonder if she was a garda because she was into kinky stuff, or if she was into kinky stuff because she was a garda)

It's the sense of authority the power of the job makes the person not afraid to try new things
