Britain bans sex acts in porn

"Seemingly arbitrarily deciding what is nice sex and what is not nice sex, the board has banned the following acts from being depicted by British pornography producers:

    Spanking

    Caning

    Aggressive whipping

Penetration by any object "associated with violence"

Physical or verbal abuse (regardless of if consensual)

    Urolagnia (known as "water sports")

    Female ejaculation

    Strangulation

    Facesitting

    Fisting

The final three listed fall under acts the BBFC views as potentially "life-endangering"."

    From the English Independent online.

Very patriarchal of them to ban female ejaculation from being shown! Is the female not allowed to ejaculate? Very odd and worrisome move from England.

Why is verbal abuse banned? That is actually idiotic.

Will all porn start with use of the good2go app too?

Its porn, not an educational tool. Why is strangulation allowed in another film but not porn?

Banning female ejaculation makes no sense. Can't they just put down a wet floor sign in case someone slips.

Spanking and caning are bad but whipping is fine as long as you aren't too aggressive.

    What is considered an object?

Female ejaculation is puzzling. As are most of them. Who are they to say of women can't concentually ejaculate or be fisted on camera? Fisting scares the ****e out of me but seemingly it is possible to do it safely.

Furthermore, the strangulation and general disrespecting women ones(or men in some cases) I can see the reasoning behind it, but some people clearly are turned on by that and there is a market for it. If they can't get it legally I assume they'll obtain or be produced illegally, which stops the porn stars being protected and just makes life worse for them IMO.

File this under "laws that are quite useless".

Australia banned women with small boobs from doing porn a few years ago. That's even more ridiculous.

Nothing wrong here- A lot of those things are nasty and demeaning toward women, and having it in porn will give young people a pretty warped sense of what should be the norm.

I trust it applies to when women dildo "sissy" men. That's quite a big niche in Brit porn (I checked)

is this legit? like is there a link to actual proof. That rules out any porn I watch ever. I'll start a petition!

Most of those sex acts are performed on men in those genres

I think that says more about warped ideas of masculinity than about porn.

I see no problem with banning female ejaculation cos it's completely unrealistic. Females can't ejaculate, right?

    ...right?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Suppose you just happen to have small boobs?! I suspect the Australian federal government had a kick back arrangement with a cabal of plastic surgeons.

To be fair, it's not at all apparent that a sheep's hoof would necessarily have the same impact as a human fist. :pac:

Strange thing is I know women who like some of that stuff! And I know of other women who enjoy it and some of the other things. I guess someone better inform them that they dont.

Glad they arent demeaning towards men though.

Wouldn't the problem there be that young people shouldn't be watching porn in the first place? There's a reason it's called the adult entertainment industry.

If you don't give young people access to pornography meant for adult entertainment, then they aren't exposed to adults entertaining themselves in the variety of ways that adults do.

You do realise that some women actually enjoy and get off on all those acts, right?

    kjl wrote: »

Can't speak for them, but would women with small boobs not actually find that offensive?

I'm a guy who's into kinky sex where a lot of the things on that list would be done to me by a woman. You'd be amazed how common fantasies like that are among guys, actually, although it's still not mainstream enough for a lot of guys to be comfortable admitting it.
The British government is essentially saying there's something wrong with my sexuality by banning this stuff - essentially adding to that stigma.

In fact now I think of it, I've almost never heard of facesitting in the context of a guy sitting on a woman's face.

So being spanked is "demeaning" and "nasty" - sure, but that's the point. Some people get off to that, and they are by no means bad people.

Pointless as all this will do is ensure that all future pornography paid for in the UK, will just no longer be produced there.

I have visions of a woman calling a plumber, and he fixes the washing machine, has a cup of tea, charges her £75 and then leaves.

Children are often used as an excuse to place restrictions on adults. Plus youth is a fairly extended concept these days. It doesn't stop at 18.

Peeing, they need to ban peeing in case it teaches somebody to pee.

Wait seriously? Its just pissing on someone?

They might as well just ban sex and instead it just shows 2 people meeting, both consenting to sex, getting married, trading their last STI tests, both using some form of contraception. Then they go behind a door and it cuts to them afterwards talking about how their bodies are different to others but its ok because everyone is different.

Not particularly on someone it can be but it also includes just peeing into a toilet, its massive in Japan where genitals in porn are banned.

That raises a really interesting question about what is appropriate sexual material for teenagers. Teenagers are still undergoing huge physical, neurological, psychological and of course sexual development and exposure to damaging material could have a huge effect.

Anyone who has survived into their twenties knows that adolescence is far from free of sex, whether that sex be full on intercourse, touching, kissing, or masturbation. The idea that a few sex ed classes, or the influence of their peers, or family, or society is going to adequately prepare a teenager for issues with their body is ludicrous. And anyone who has survived into their twenties knows that teenagers get their exposure to sexual material from anywhere they can, whether that's teen magazines (with pictures of boybands) or the Sunday supplement fashion magazine (with pictures of booby women) or via hardcore pornography on their tablet in bed, or via pictures they send to their boyfriend or girlfriend via their smartphone. Personally I think teenagers should be afforded the opportunity, driven by themselves to access safe material on what appropriate sexual behaviour is.

I knew plenty of teenage boys who had topless and swimsuit pictures of women up on their walls. I received the typical holiday postcards of hot people on a beach from a friend when I was a teenager, I was hugely embarrassed but it seems obvious to any adult that these are things teenagers have to get to grips with and it's important for their healthy development.

It would surprise me if most adults thought pornography was wrong. I think there's a broad acceptance that pornography can be quite healthy. Hopefully as adults we recognise what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to sex (consent, respect, etc.) However I have no idea how many parents have properly educated their children on the positives and negatives of different types of porn and how porn and sex are differentiated. But with porn being so pervasive it's probably something that needs to happen.
