Do the ratchet spanners feel like they're OK quality? I'm sort of looking out for a set.

Ya they seem solid enough. Haven't used them yet though. I'm actually getting good mileage out of Lidl tools over the last year or two. Either they've improved the quality on certain tools or I'm just using them less. Probably the latter.

Might go and pick up a set tomorrow so! cheers :)

The hex keys are decent anyway.

Neighbour just caught me sniffing my car again.

Smells a bit coolanty sometimes. No major loss of coolant though.
Oil leak too, oil cooler or rocker cover gasket near turbo.
Hopefully a better diagnosis of both tomorrow.

Just after clearing out the whole car, spare, jack luggage cover trying to find the source of some rattles and bangs. Any recommendations of a thin foam or rubber for putting under polystyrene in the boot to keep noise down?

Halfords do clip together foam mats. I've got them cut to size in my boot until I can find another option because I stuck a full sized spare in. Reduced road noise too.

Too thick I'd say, but I do have a kinda 1m x 1.5m sheet of thin rubber that lidl or aldi were selling as a boot mat. Might do the job for cheap cut up. Hmm.
Might go thicker in the spare wheel well. That thing is bass drum size and is definitely amplifying noise up in the cabin.

I'd say that's equal to my recent brown trouser moment in my chrysler when the exact opposite happened.
Pedal straight to the floor in a 3 ton car going downhill.

    How did you stop?

Depends on the car really, if its a dated Japanese motor it's pretty simple to replace the locks & ignition barrel, more than a few of mine were on the flathead screwdriver.

My carina II had half the key stuck in it so it was never removed or locked, just used to put a wooly hat covering the key when parked in the town :pac:

Good one. I was the same for a while with a car a few years ago carina e. Lost the key so used to start the car with flat head screw driver.

GS300? I suppose you have something to look forward to upgrading from in a few years... :p. I test drove 06-L-300 a couple of years back and wasn't too impressed, but they are around 2k cheaper than a 5 series, and a lot more to choose from, with good spec.

Which one of these mp3 tape converter things is the best? Any of ye experience any of them and found them to be good. The last one I bought lasted 3 months.

A friend has one of them, and I couldn't warm to it at all, I found that you had to keep changing frequencies every so often.

From experience, all those tape things are shíte. I've had ones that cost €2 and ones that cost €20 and were all the same. Is it for your own car?

I got my first flat battery in the RCZ today. I must say, it was rather scary for a few seconds when it wouldn't start :pac:

How did you manage that? You hardly left the lights on. Do cars even allow you leave the lights on anymore?

Yap for my own, I'm that backdated! I'm starting to draw the same conclusion too! The sound quality is fairly good though. I'd have a new stereo in, only if Ford didn't insist on having 1.5 din units, making any retrofitted one stick out.

Haha, kind of :o Left the amber leds on in the car for some reason and it they drained the battery.

Ah stop sure I've one in the Volvo. I never use it due to my sheer hatred towards it. Actually you can have it if you want it. Drop me a PM. You might make better use of it. Making CD's is just an effort and has to be done a certain way for my stupid stereo. There is an adapter available for my head unit though and its meant to be really good. There could be something similar for yours on the market. I never bought the adapter because I've plans to either upgrade the stereo or the car itself in the new year.
