I avoid clichés like the plague but at the end of the day I think it's a case of the Emperor's new clothes wanting his cake and eating it going forward.

I don't think the lads robbing cash in transit vans get their info from rte news so I have no problem with them broadcasting it :)

Those trucks were empty anyways, it was just a ploy by the banks to let people think they had money

I've never understood this, I thought they had automated systems to put the cash beyond use in the event of a robbery.

There must be flooding on the way then.

They do. We send it all to Germany. They mind it using guns.

I am sure the criminals knew all about this before RTE did

Time for an Italian Irish Job anyone :D

I wouldn't like to be the driver of those vans now. The criminals will be too dumb to understand the technology behind securing the money. They'll just think there's money in the van so give us it. The driver will have a terrible time.

The banks have already been robbed blind from the inside by the people who ran them and the Government,Gardai and Army were powerless to stop them.
And what's more not a single person has spent a minute in prison as a result.!!

Broadcasting it might be a honeypot ploy.

I'm going to miss the horrified expressions of the American tourists in Galway as the guards and the army parade up Shop St to the bank.

I had one guy stop dead in his tracks, taking in the guns and soldiers, turn to me and whisper:

"What's happening? It's alright, you can tell me..."

The guards and army won't be happy. That's 7 million a year gone from the wages

The army will be on the dole now.

wait, did RTE not make mention of the first few banks/routes to stop using the forces as defence? This was about a year back, but it doesn't surprise me that more aren't paying for the "service".

It's not really necessary. Most countries don't use the army for this. Although I do hope it doesn't mean more redundancies.

    I'll say. They're the employers.

My money is on the Gardai trailing the cash vans anyway to see if they're being tailed by gangs.

It's not really necessary. Most countries don't use the army for this.

They don't usually need them because the CIT van operators are armed and trained in the use of firearms themselves.
