    Trinity geology, ftw.

Geology rocks! (Bet ya never heard that one before :pac: )
Rent down in Waterford is ridiculously low! Almost makes driving to Cork everyday worth it!

For sure it is, I think we were paying something like 600/month for a nearly new 5 bed semi at one stage.

    try getting somewhere.

me and mrs. fanboi were searching for weeks for a place. we were paying cash, no rent allowance etc, good references and a decent budget. trying to get anything, even a **** hole was difficult.

estate agents we're so difficult, basically looking for on the spot deposits upon viewing the property, some even asking did we have cash before we went to view because there was several other viewers waiting etc.

    nightmare.

"geology? thats a rocky road to go down"

Heard this first from my own father :pac:

And of course, the old chestnut: "geology isn't a real science"

Used to cause murder between science students :p

The quality on the whole isn't great to be fair, it does take a bit of time. We had a huge gaf for peanuts for a while but it was old and didn't fancy another winter with single glazed sash windows and 250 a month gas bills. What we have now came up for rent at a mad price, made an offer and it was dismissed. Three months later went back with a low ball offer and it was jumped on.

It's a crazy market down here though, every agent has the same house for rent whereas in other places people seem to let them through just one.

Engineering geology accounts for most of my work with the OPW.

Good look in Krakow by the way, magnificent place - do some sight seeing if you're still standing by the weekend :)

Drove a new Leon Cupra 280bhp on the autobahn the other night MC, and even that was very economical, nice cars to drive and sit in I must say

    Define economical. :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,424 ✭✭✭Dartz

If it's doing better than 20L/100km, it's 'economical'

The Mazda does not like the cold weather. Still, heated leather seats are worth their weight in Gold.

Mine could use though and generally if it's below 5, it's not starting easy. :pac:

    Oh old, broken cars. :(
Good thing I don't depend on it.

Nice bit of kit for the gtv is it?

I had a lovely red sparco one on my fiat coupe 20vt plus which I think was factory fitted?

I don't know how it will improve the handling, as it's not fitted, currently lying under my bed. Although there's a few who have them fitted who have generally good things to say about them.
I'm tempted to press the button on a set of koni sports for the front, ideally I'd go coilovers, but there's no decent sets out their for the Gtv. Most recommend standard springs, koni sports on the front and standard but polybushed rear.
Lowering is a no no on them.

Speaking of 20vts, you don't know of any lying up?

It's just cranking oddly slow on cold starts. Either the starter's a bit ****ed, or the battery just doesn't like the cold weather. It's only 6 months old so it's a bit odd.....

    Hot starts are fine.

That makes absolutely no sense for an RX8. Haha :P
I think my problem is just the old battery draining it's self, I've been putting off buying a new one until I actually need the car to start every time.

I need you all to do the right thing now and talk me out of buying an MX5. Can I trust you all to do that?

I have 1 daily driver and 2 "projects" that still need work doing to them. Some a lot and some a little. I really shouldn't get another car. There's just space for everyone on the drive again now the Primera is gone, can't be clogging it up again!!

My heater plugs are frigged. Absolutely hates cold starts, takes her a minute or 2 to settle into its rhythm.

The great thing about MX5's is that they make a great project car AND a daily driver. :D
Nothing like a reliable good time and an LSD. :D

That's not what you're supposed to tell me! TBH my daily is a project too!

I want one very a lot. Just tell me they're crap to actually own :(

They're cheap, parts are cheap (and shared with the DB7  ), standard suspension is comfy but well able to go around a corner, an early 1.6 will constantly taunt you into revving it up pasted 7k and you get to listen to it all with the roof down.
    Good fun.

They mist, if there's any leak you're gonna need a towel in the car at all times, soft tops are a prick to change and hard tops start at around €500, they're a prick to insure but doable if you shop around and when it's frosty like this morning, you're gonna need a jacket.
    Bad fun.

Still, it's all fun and pop up headlights!

Sparco kit is usually effective...should be easy enough to bolt on in a few minutes I'm sure you will notice a nice change, never driven a gtv but if anything like my old coupé then its bone shaking agony over potholes and I'd be afraid to put coilovers and or konis or polybushes on , for risk of ruining it lol...

I seen a clean 2000 red one in celbridge Tuesday randomly but sorry I don't know any lying up personally,
But if you know clondalkin I can give you directions to a house with two abandoned ones on their driveway, few mins from m7

It's always been a bit of a peculiar one, alright. It has some unusual quirks.
