My dad was asking me should he get the garage to put cable ties on the wheel covers  and now he's on about getting them to put a towbar on the golf it's like he's deliberately trying to go and ruin it at this stage :pac:

Just go to a proper jeweller which makes them. A more limited selection but eminently adjustable. Platinum with milgrain on both sides. Simple but catches the light.

My sparco strut brace has arrived. :DWas only fitted to the the other persons car for 2 months and when it was 70 pounds shipped instead of 230 pounds for the new one, I felt why not.

Nice bit of kit for the gtv is it?

I had a lovely red sparco one on my fiat coupe 20vt plus which I think was factory fitted?

I bet something you'd never expect it to. ;)

Righto lads, so I failed my NCT surprisingly on two things
Surprisingly as I thought I'd fail on a lot more :pac:

Corroded brake lines - I knew that.

Next up is the one I'm interested at:

High RPM CO - 0.25%vol - pass rate is at 0.20%vol - what would you suggest to do? Would dipetane do the job on this? :D

Anyone know what's the best stuff to get to restore headlight plastic. Mine are only starting to go shady you can see it more so when the lights are on at night typical mk5 golf issue. I figure it's better to tackle them now and not wait till they go completely yellow.

It would alright. just out of curiosity - how long did you wait for test? I mean a timeframe - your arrival---tester starts engine. Maybe it's been just a bit too cold?

    A DA and cutting compound.

If that doesn't do it then wet sand with 1500 and then compound.

    Polish to finish.

Its a maptune obd kinda thing, from what I gather its just a plug and play sorta job a couple of lads over on a few saab forums hvave em and are reporting good things back, no need for turbo swaps or anything like that, plus you can revert it back to stock if you want too!

    500 moneys though :o

I'd also agree with trying out toothpaste. Fair bit of elbow grease needed, but it does a good job.

Do you know what, I'm so ****ing tempted to burn this ****ing Landcruiser I have and walk home from work and quit tomorrow.

/sorry, probably not massively appropriate for here but I needed to blow off some steam without punching something :P

They're failing everyone for corroded brake lines at the moment. And none of the ones I've seen have actually been corroded. I sprayed herselfs old Micra with Hammerite and it passed the retest no questions asked.

The info on corroded brake lines came from an independent adjudicator ;)
I knew they might fail, but thought I'd try NCT first without replacing them :pac:

"No expense spared" :pac: :pac: :pac:

Parked up at work this morning and stayed in the car for a few minutes checking something on my phone when I noticed the car nudge a bit as if someone was putting something in the boot. Turns out it was a cat clambering into the engine bay! Man they love heat.

And can be costly with repairs too.

Without getting into detail; I need to be at home with my girlfriend. She is quite ill and I feel a bit helpless being 200-odd kms away.

I've asked to leave and even offered to drive all the way back down the following day, only been met with a firm 'no' and basically 'if you leave don't come back'.

I'm sorely tempted to. It won't be a huge loss to me.
