Let's not start playing the poor me card. If you start claiming black people are criminals because they're black, then you're a racist. If you say that there's a higher amount of black people committing crimes, according to statistics, then there's nothing wrong with that. It's the assumption that race dictates criminal behavior that is nonsense. Correlation does not imply causation.

I'm not. This is my experience. Not with you but I but another mod in this section. Just warning others who may be tempted to go down that road ;)

    Poverty is the reason

And the means by which people end up in poverty or have trouble escaping it - the justice system being one of them.

Do you think Black people and Hispanics are criminal by their nature?

    no

I would like to say more about the subject but like it has been pointed out on the last page boards is not a place were it can be talked about

But he was massaging the facts to miss out the important information regarding the backgrounds of those who commit criminal acts. Taking all the information paints a very different picture.

Exactly. He was asked whther balcks/hispanics were BY THEIR NATURE more likely to offend and he answered in the affirmative by producing base statistics and ignoring the crucial factors.

Stick to facts and you'll be fine. Make racist generalisations and you'll be done for racism.

It isnt that complicated actually. The colour of one's skin has nothing to do with it. Their personal situation does. End of story

Why are white crimes more highlighted by the media over in murica than there black counter parts? ive read some savage stuff done by black people on other races and u never hear a peep about it in the media yet if a black person is a victim there is uproar ! it seems like the media try to fuel it !

Im not going on about black people or color i was more pointing out the poor handling by the media of the situation, that more fuels the violence than anything else!

Any paticular part in American history i should be looking at?

I would imagine there will be a chapter called something like "slavery". Pay particular attention to whom were the slaves and then whom were the masters. Then ask yourself your initial queston again.

Are you suggesting that the larger amount of focus/outrage on white on black crime while giving little to none on black on black/ black on white crime is warranted because of slavery? If so, why?

In no way am I trying to fuel any argument, or start a new discussion on slavery, and this certainly has no influence over my feelings and thoughts on the Brown case....or American history.

But it must be clarified given that there is talk of history books, the first legal slave owner in the land that became the United States of America was black.

Slavery doesnt really explain the rioting that took place in London a while back.

    Or maybe it does?

    Who knows.

I think a hangover from slavery is a major factor in why there is more reporting of white on black crime. Slavery is a major part of american history from the plantations up to the 'modern' struggles of Malcolm X etc. Blacks in america will always be descendants of slaves and the white-owned corporate media are aware of that.

An interesting part of your above post is your clear-cut statement that there is "little to none" coverage of black on black crime.

Thats history, whats taht got to do with the present situation? read the part where slavery was abolished and equal rights and what not, read the part about the first black american president

Why so hung up on one part of history lads? as if slavery is an excuse for voilence and its not a get out of jail free card for black people, point me out one black person today in america that has experienced slavery cause if they havent they need to stfu about it!

But back to my original point before the bull**** reply of "go read a history book" i think the media handling of the whole thing has been disgraceful and they should be held accountable for it!

That does not negate what followed after his tenure nationwide though, does it?

Nope, not at all, I was just pointing out a historical fact given history is being brought up.

So you're saying that the author recommended is a racist then? Certainly he could be popular amongst the white supremacists and seperatists due to something like gardening skills, or reaching out to young men and teaching them knitting.....doubt it though.
