How could that have happened? and how'd i get the air out?

I used this thing I got in halfords on sunday. It has a one way valve on it to prevent air going backwards.

Did you keep fluid in the reservoir at all times?

    yep.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,505 ✭✭✭Interslice

There's a bit of an art to using them. They don't work very well in my experience and are best used just to catch the fluid with 2 people doing the bleeding, shutting the bleed nipple just before the pedal it hits the floor.

Anyone here know much about the different versions of RNS510 head units? Ive got a version C (died last weekend) and im looking at a version D to buy.

2 real questions. A) Will a version D work with my 2009 CC, and is there much difference between version C and D?

Oh, any tips on convincing my girlfriend to get me this for Christmas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,855 ✭✭✭nd

ok so i just tried bleeding it the regular way and there is nothing at all coming out? And no pressure at all when i open the bleed nipple?

And yes the reservoir is full.

Heres an annoying fact. There's no light in the boot of the S60. Not even a place for one. Have the car over a year and only noticed now!

Surly that wouldn't be a big job for an Electricien to sort out :)

My current car is the first one to have decent interior lights in the back and front and it has footwell light too. It's a small thing but they are useful. Also there is a button that turns on all the front and rear light that's one of my favourite features.

I might fit something. I'll see. The rest of the car is like yours. Lights absolutely everywhere! Have a little button on the fob that turns them on including the parking lights and rear lights. Mad that they didn't bother fitting one in the boot.

It's a bit mad that with so many lights they didn't bother with the boot I can imagine it would be a bit annoying when looking for something in it during the night.

I reckon you're safe enough. I think 07 onwards had some difference with the can gateway. I couldn't get the MFD to pick up an early one in an 09 car but swapped it for one from an 11 car without issue. From what I gathered reading about at the time is if the unit is newer than the car you're usually covered.

My Fiat didn't have one either, but there was a space for it and wiring hidden behind the carpet. The light that fit is from an Alfa glovebox among others! :pac::(

I might go digging during daylight tomorrow. Only had a quick look tonight and couldn't see anything

It's a well known fact, that adding Alfa parts to your car improves it's reliability:pac:

This is gonna sound stupid and slightly dickish, but are you sure you're at the right reservoir? I only ask because I made that mistake before. Tried to bleed the clucth with a Gunsen EZBleed, couldn't figure why the reservoir was over flowing and still no pressure in clutch. Was pressuring the bloody break lines.

i think it just shares the reservoir with the brakes.

i assume the hose with the red dot on it feeds the clutch master cylinder.

    vnx8ccY.jpg

but when i took it off there was no fluid flowing out. thinking it must be blocked i pushed something into it and it feels like there is a valve there that springs shut when i remove what i pushed in. but for all i know it might just be a blockage. anyone any idea if there might be a valve there?

and sry my shift key doesn't work most of the time so i've usually no caps.

I think a matchstick would provide more light than this thing tbh!

I got round the Italian car loophole, mine was made in Poland! :D:p

Your going to have to pressurise the resevoir at this stage I reckon. Mr. pickles has some trick for connecting a brake caliper to the slave cylinder but not sure if that would work. I presume it feeds the fluid back through the clutch using the brake master. Where are you based?

Cars had boot lights 30 years back.

Maybe I'm wrong but I can't see an S60 not having them from the factory.

I'd totally (attempt) to drive an Abarth 500! :pac:

Sobanek, it's a Panda. One of the previous gen. that were made in Poland. New ones are back in Italy now.

Speaking of which, I must take some better pics now that I've done a few bits to it.

OK all this talk of boot lights got me to go out and check again. KSL, you were right. The S60 doesn't have one but TWO boot lights. They were both disconnected for some reason. I feel like a right tit

Bow to me single boot light peasants!

    :pac:

They're in an odd place. Back to back with the rear lights. Thanks to Kopparberg Strawberry and Lime for making me go check again, even though I wasn't sure exactly where he was on about.

    There's a reason they're disconnected though.
