Minister Alan Kelly bomb threat

The bomb threat was made to Mr Kelly's constituency office in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, earlier this morning. The minister described the threat as "shocking and disgraceful".

“This was a very traumatic and upsetting experience for all staff and the matter has been referred to the Gardai," he said.

"I condemn this deplorable behaviour.”

Speaking on RTE's Today with Sean O'Rourke before noon, Labour's Junior Minister Aodhan O Riordain told stand-in host Keelin Shanley that a member of staff in Mr Kelly's office was "very upset" after receiving the phone call.

Independent.ie understands that the threat was made by a woman - and the staff member who took the call in Mr Kelly's office is a young mother. The threat has been described as "abusive and threatening".

Could this be the start of something more?
Ministers cars being surrounded by protesters is one thing; but bomb threats and bullet threats are another. It seems as if the water protests are being used, or perhaps misused by people to vent their anger at government austerity, taxation, and cuts.
I don't think its just a question of water charge protests anymore, it wouldn't take much for things to escalate to a tipping point.
The moment a protester gets struck by a Garda baton, or knocked down; that is all it takes for the spark to ignite the fire.
