Very consistent splits BTW, looks like you would have had the energy for a big negative split had it not been for the heat + sickness. Looks like I'll have to get back into training ;)

Super work. Totally nuts, but super work.

By the time I get to do my next Marathon, you'll have done another 10 and well broken the 3 hour mark.
Great to watch the progress, even better to see a redemption run.

    Tnx Meno,

Not so sure, but I'll just have to get back at it and get it done. It's the old saying if your Auntie had balls she'd be your uncle scenario. What's your next target?

All your 5ks are in the 22:xx which is dead conssitent in my book.

Training already with a spring marathon in mind. Have my place in London so I will probably go with that but the fact it is very late April this year is putting me off a bit (could be hot!!). Hoping not to peak too early this year, last year I think I was at my best at the end of January!! Taking the slow approach this time under a watchful eye.

Congrats Popeye. Had a good chuckle at your race report :D

Good man, right back on the horse :pac: That's a great result, well done!

(I think S started to suffer with stomach and knee trouble, but he was very happy with his Dublin time so I don't think he'll be too disappointed with slowing down in this one)

Great report C - well done on putting it right so quickly !

I'll have to add AC\DC to the playlist at home :D

    Well done - cracking stuff!!

(Until I read your report I thought you had done a marathon in Valentia, Kerry :o:o)

    Tnx J,

Valentia probably gets the wind but I'd say it's been a fair few years since they've had 20• in the middle of November :)

I was scratching my head wondering what you were at flying from Gatwick to Kerry - it's Monday and i'm not at my sharpest!!

You are a complete nutter you know? Super run though. I wonder what happened to the poor devil that was beside you on the plane?

You sneaky oul fecker. Great stuff - your head sounds like it was in the right place all the way through. Congrats on a great PB.

    Tnx Murph,

Running with S from Bros Pearce was a big benefit, helped take my mind off it for almost 10 miles. I've no excuse now for not showing at one of those park runs :)

    Tnx TPP,

That was actually one of the biggest reasons why I wanted to do it, I felt that I needed a good run to give me the confidence to go for a solid sub 3. A 3.09 seemed like a too big a gap. Can get stuck back in now from a good base and in a positive frame of mind.

Great run on such a quick turnaround....roll on 2015 and 02:54:59! And as always a excellent report. See you at St Anne's parkrun soon:)

Didn't read the logs for a few days so this slipped under the radar.

Massive congrats on that run. You showed great physical and mental strength. The circumstances and the splits would indicate you've a fair bit more to give too.
I think there's a seat reserved for you in the sub 3 support thread.

I'm delighted for you and a tad jealous too.

Great run and report TbL. Fair play to you for sticking with it. Congrats and best of luck with Seville.

Haven't run since last Sunday, bit out of sorts and can't seem to shake the chesty cough. I've been eating crap for Ireland as well so energy very low.

Decided I'd venture out today for the nursing home special.

On the way out of town the missus went for a coffee in Spiddal and I got into the gear and headed off, she was to pick me up in a half an hour.

Muscles felt a bit tight today apart from the belly that seemed happy enough to flap about with abandon! My quads were very tight after Valencia ( not quite sure why as it was a very flat course) and there is still some deep knots in the right quad. I shuffled along nicely in the afternoon sun and soon 3 miles became 4, 4 became 5 and I'd 5.7 miles done before she arrived. She decided to have another cup thinking I'd enjoy the extra time/distance!!!!

    5.7 @ 9.22 pace.

I'm going to only do a couple of easy runs over the next week or two. It's then time to sit down again and plan for the next few months. Feels a bit peculiar not running to a plan but I probably need the break as I've been training almost non stop since last January. Looking forward to the next cycle.

The break will do you good, the mind sometimes need a rest from running as well as the body.

Last few days including the weekend have been bananas with work, and I'm continuing in my quest to try and eat 10,000 calories a day! Back in Dublin tonight after a few days in London and on the plane there was more pressure on my waistband than there's on Gerry Adams :)

Really in a funk and need to get back into a running routine.

I was around Tymon this evening and as I hadn't the one essential piece of kit every Bogger needs while running in Dublin (a can of mace :)), I knocked on Ecolis door and asked him to run point as security detail!

Badly needed to see the main man as although I'd decided not to do anything for a couple of weeks I'm literally bustin to get back at it.

We hit the streets for a couple of slow miles and I was going so slow he's probably got hypothermia!

Decisions, decisions, great stuff, we mapped out a draft plan for the next cycle.

Seville canned, Boston the main target. Gonna do the Raheny 5 miler the Bohermeen half and a few 5k's including the Tom Brennan with a few others added in. More emphasis on racing this cycle.

Tip along for the rest of this week and then easing into the new plan next week. Back to routine and structure, thank feck!

Off to Paris tomorrow and more binge eating, I'm trying the Ricky Hatton (aka TRRtT) approach :)

Tonight I got a Parisian nursing home special in.

Staying in a posh and overpriced hotel beside the Arc de Triumphe, I've enough hotel slippers now collected to see me through to the actual nursing home!

Was gonna leave the run till the morning but with sleep being at a premium lately I decided to head out this evening. Cool crisp and dry, lovely evening for a zimmerframe shuffle.

Got 3.5 miles in at 10.05 pace.

Was surprised at the amount of people homeless, every second doorway seemed to be occupied by some poor soul. Puts a lot of things into perspective.

Delighted that a plan is coming my way next week and I'll only do some very easy stuff till then and try and keep the belly below Santa Clause proportions.
