That's actually what it used to like before the place got overrun with illiterates, cranks and professional offence merchants.

I've just noticed the "misogyny" sticky at the top of AH - riding your (female) grinds teacher would surely offend our feminist overlords (overladylordies?)(overladies?)(overpersons?!)...

Oh oh you've done it now, wait for thread lock down in 5...4...3...2

    My experience of this forum:

40% of people are just venting their pent-up negativity.
40% are trying their best to be funny, chasing the dopamine release they get when they see their post get thanked.
10% are genuine, pleasant, and helpful people looking for thoughtful discussion and community interaction.

    The other 10% ?

the politically correct social justice warrior do gooder arseholes

You missed out pc brigade feminazi loony leftie bra burning bleeding heart liberal white knights in your wee tirade there.

And the forum would be much better off if people stopped whining about these imaginary extremist reactionaries that oddly enough never turn up when heralded. Why, it's almost like they don't exist here on boards.ie.

For me personally, it has become next to impossible to read/post while sober.

What are the odds on so many hot air merchants congregating at the one time in one corner of a small discussion site??

I've no idea if this is meant to be deliciously ironic or just hilariously self unaware.

We need more threads by the likes of FeekieMcGee or whatever he was called. Trying to ride his grinds teacher. Legend.

Also bring back Flutter and his annual Christmas Log thread lol

Your username... Is it saying that you ran out of ideas, or the sovereign state of Iran is out of ideas?

when I see a 'thanks' at the bottom of a long winded post (of which there are many), I'm amazed that someone has bothered to read it :)

I will grudgingly stretch to read 5 or 6 line posts maximum

    Maybe they didnt read it.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I get it hard to read past the first line. But then I'm using a Casio calculator modded to get internet.

I wonder is there just an element of fatigue people are experiencing after being part of the AH community for a while.

While you might've found a topic or a genre of topics engaging the first time you read them maybe the whole meta of AH has now been burned into your brain and you can almost predict every single post in order because arguments tend to follow the same structure every time.

I've found that to be my experience in the Atheism forum. I don't necessarily think the quality has diminished - the whole issue has just been resolved from my perspective so there's little else for me to add.

    "Get it hard"?

Jesus man, no need for such graphic detail....

Upuendo. (It's like innuendo but more feck-offish.)

There are a lot of interesting threads in the Atheism forum, but I find it hard to discuss, on an ongoing basis, an absence of belief. It's not sustainable as a topic of discussion (for me).

I usually just skim the first page of whatever thread I'm interested in reading. The first page or two are usually filled with "in first..." or smart arse replies.

Those kind of replies seem more prevalent in serious topics rather than the more lighthearted. Some threads that just poll boardsies for answers about stupid things seem to get the more straightforward answers.
