Lot of scumbags at that protest today, not sure what Paul Murphys defination of "peaceful" is.

Maybe you should go to the next Galway protest and say that to the peoples who are there .

Let me know how that goes.

It looked fairly peaceful to me. You'd see more crap outside supermacs after closing time on a Saturday night.

I'd say you'd have a good swing at him (with your handbag)
And you couldn't say that at all about the anti-side. :pac:

You lot just say whatever you like it seems.
Good lad Banjo. If you answer a point you answer it. If you can't you cry shill. :p
Your first line essentially pointed out that hitherto we all paid for water via taxation. I’m not sure what reply you expect to a “the pope is a Catholic” type line? Or do you think we dispute this?

It would have been better than 'playing the man' with the shill accusations, that's for sure. :pac:

And that's where the sledgehammers come in is it? Now tell me, when your dream coalition of SF and the AAA collapse after a few months in power, will you be taking the sledge to them too?

You have some arrogance to tell me what my dreams are. FG were given a silk purse and turned it into a sows ear just like FF before them. If SF get into power it will be Kennys and Burtons fault and no-one elses. I am not going to keep voting for incompetents and undemocratic tyrants with no mandate. This is like when FF were board stuffing in the last days before they left. When the dogs in the street knew they were in the eyes of the people unwelcome in Leinster House.

Now SF faces daily propaganda about rape etc. An unending drip drip of propaganda in fact. However I have yet to hear of FG accusing FF of colluding for decades with the cover-up of endemic child abuse and rape in religious institutions in the Republic of Ireland. So get off your high horse. It doesnt suit you. I will vote for anyone who respects democracy and accountability as my first priority. There can be no recovery of the state without democracy and accountability. The thieves and liars in Leinster House arent doing it for us.

Just watched the report on the news there, not sure what the guards were at transferring her from one car to another that was such an idiotic move it beggars belief, they were slow marching her out of the estate everything was fine.

However the footage showing people rushing at her as she was getting into the other car and what happened with the garda car with people running out in front of it is not on in the slightest and does nothing but put the headlines in Joans favour and accomplishes nothing

Sometimes I think the left wing leading Gardai let their emotions get the better of them, they should be professional and do their job.

Well in fairness they have to, I mean, Joan and Enda and the rest of govt are essentially their bosses after all. :)

As a poster just said how the hell are they going to get any income out of IW with all the set up costs, installation of meters, the sending out and checking of application packs not to mind the garda bill with all the concessions the government are promising. To make this worse they are saying there will be a price freeze until 2018. There is no way there will be the money left for the huge investment needed in the water infrastructure and this is all outside of the political cost. To say this whole debacle has not been thought through would be some understated.

I was just explaining what happens if a government loses all authority and right to govern. Its basic stuff really. An election needs to be called now . People owe their allegiance to the Republic not to a government which has no mandate and which has broken all its election promises.

To the Republic? Would that be to the constitution? The constitution that allows the government to pass laws?

What made me laugh on RTE Six One was Alex White , the Minister for Communications on about DEMOCRACY .

Where was he yesterday when a citizen of the state was PowerHosed by IW Workers in HIS OWN home ?

Nothing wrong with protesting in an orderly manner, clearly you think differently if you think what went on today was an acceptable form of protesting.

If we would live in a democracy there would be elections now, but we live in a republic and hence the government that was elected can sit their time out unless enough of their supporters in the Dáil Éireann decide to vote them out. Which is unlikely to happen because after all, they would like to sit there as long as possible to enjoy the benefits of office.

This is a republic, citizens are limited to execute their power to send people to office every couple of years. Not to mention that TD’s actually have no real power once they have elected the king sorry Taoiseach. This is the system that we are having, if you wish to change it, build a political party, get enough votes and change the constitution (with a referendum or two) to make this country a real democracy.

According to the Irish Times today, 5 adults in a house will pay the same as 2.

    It's not charging for usage.

My point was that the air tax will have to be a tax because air can't be metered or rationed. A sort of VAT on air.

What do you think of the argument that the water charge will go up? Some people on the thread think it will. One of them said it will be €1500 to €2000 a year on average. But he didn't say where he got the figures from.

You lot just say whatever you like it seems.
Once again, a reply that seems to have little relation to what is quoted. A poster suggested that the pro side are very firmly on the pro side (fairly true) and I suggested that the very same applies to the anti side (also fairly true), And you came back with ^^^^^ ????
It would have been better than 'playing the man' with the shill accusations, that's for sure. :pac:
Ah, now. If you had continued to play the ball and addressed the point that was put to you instead of playing to the crowd, to continue the analogy, we might be still having our kick around …:(

I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories, but to he'll with it, I'm gonna throw this one out here.

A week or two ago, we had Enda Kenny attending an appointment near Santry (Northwood) which is on Dublin's North side, and quite close to the scene of numerous protests, some of which successfully ended water meter installation in the areas.

Of course, Endas car was surrounded, protesters pepper sprayed, and an end result was Coolock Garda Station being surrounded by a group of people chanting.

That was the first of the "dissident republican" accusations to be trotted out.

Today then, we have the Tánaiste heading in to Jobstown, apparently to announce some election campaign fundraiser.

Jobstown, a working class area, Prob ninety percent of them would have been Labour voters, and they've witnessed the champagne socialists rip up pretty much every pre-election promise made, and rabbite, Gilmore, and Joan sneer at people, while they cut another service, or introduce another levy.

Unsurprisingly, Joans car gets surrounded by an angry mob (which their seems to be no shortage of these days)

Must set my alarm for early in the morning, cant wait on the Indos take on things.

My money is on either Al Qaeda, ISIS, Or the KKK now to have alleged links to the protests.

The clock is ticking FG and Labour. Not long left.

I agree with metered water charges
And where do your sledgehammers come into it? Under accountability or democracy?

Why do you keep going on about sledgehammers? Someone made a joking reference to breaking water meters with a sledgehammer and you are going on like it was a real threat against people.
You're just like the government, trying desperately to make anyone opposed to double taxation out to be a thug/terrorist/etc.
