I think it's over and if it is so be it great ending I don't think you can go on with it not enough strong characters left

Looks like curtains for nidge and the show as a whole. All the best shows bow out before they fizzle out.

RIP King Nidge :( OMG though WHAT A FINALE! No words to describe it really, one of the best finales from any TV drama, I genuinely mean that, simply sublime! It had all the ingredients that make a thrilling final episode - dramatic, intense, shocking and a cliff hanger! I was honestly shaking after the episode, it was THAT good! Still in shock tbh, did NOT see that ending coming at all. Also stunned at the Fran bit, that was brutal Jesus. I remember I posted on here a while back about the paper spoiling it and I thought they had got it wrong... it did happen but they stated it was going to happen last week. The shocks just kept on coming from the onset, Janet's murder was particularly gritty and gruesome.

Patrick had completely slipped my mind so to see him jump out of the van and shoot both Siobhan and NIDGE completely stunned me! That close up of Siobhan covered in blood was really harrowing! :( I thought what was particularly harrowing and haunting was Nidge realising in the moments before Patrick shot him dead was that Warren was going to witness his father being murdered, you could see the horror in his face.

I'm ABSOLUTELY gutted that Nidge, Siobhan (probably Fran too!) are dead. I honestly really liked Siobhan and Charlie Murphy was a superb actress. Same can be said for Tom Vaughan Lawlor. Stunned that they killed Nidge, I suppose I should know by now that Love/Hate doesn't shy away from killing off it's big characters.

Something about that ending felt very final. Nidge Siobhan and Fran were central to this series and carried most of the plots. I think was the last series. I can't see Love/Hate without Nidge in it which is why I think tonight was the last episode of Love/Hate ever...and what a way to go... the series certainly went out on a high! :D Television at its finest! :D

Of course, if it turns out Nidge survived ( Although that would not be EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY UNLIKELY! Same for Siobhan... I'd love if Siobhan managed to survive too, but I reckon she's done for sadly! Top class acting in the last few minutes, hats off to Tom and Charlie!) somehow, then I'm all for another series ;)

Love/Hate deserves to sweep the board at the awards/IFTA's after tonight's episode! Stuart Carolan = GENUIS! The actors, the directors,scriptwriters,etc... all deserve recognition. Absolute top quality tonight, this has been an all around amazing series and I reckon the show will be talked about for years to come as the greatest TV show to come out of Ireland :D Love/Hate is in a league of its own!

I know its only a TV show, but it's interesting how many people think that Fran's scene is a good excuse for a bad pun. I don't remember any jokes when Siobhan was raped. Strange double standard.

Siobhan wasn't an evil psycho though was she?

it's odd the way people keep going on about Nidge being dead.
he was shot twice in the torso, people survive being shot in the chest all the time in real life....
if they wanted to kill him off, then he would have been shot in the head multiple times.

there's no show without Nidge, Aido is the only one who is actually free and not on life-support.....

as for Terrence going after Patrick or Fran, he wouldn't give a sh1te about them, and he has no reason to leave sunny Spain to do some drug-dealing in Dublin...

There is nowhere to go with it, it's over.
Very little, bar bloodletting, actually happened this series.
None of the main characters, bar Siobhan, are interesting anymore...Nidge spent most of his time grimacing and looking stressed. He had fa else to reveal about himself. Cops where just cliches.
If he's still alive I'm out. It's actually a series too long as it is.

Was the guy who shot Nidge and Siobhan working for Fran or Terrence?

The tip of the snooker cue wouldn't have been too far off Fran's head by the time it stopped to be fair.

In the final clip of Fran on the floor there was a fair bit of cue showing. He only had half it shoved up him tbf.

Or was the cue pulled back out at that stage?

Siobhan wasn't an evil psycho though was she?

She was pretty f*cking manipulative when she needed to be.

    That's irrelevant really.

Maybe next series will have Janet's boy doing an Omar-from-the-Wire style campaign of revenge against Terrences operation? Dunno, maybe not, but they're running low on characters.

They could get another series out of it even if Nidge and Siobhain are dead.
Fran rising to power in prison,
Tommy waking up and working for someone else.
Patrick could become a bigger character.
Trish and the kids adjusting to life without drug money.

Safe writing to not show a headshot to be honest. Remember that the rags were reporting about a hitch in the contract negotiations between RTE and TVL. This gives them a way out of either scenario depending on how said negotiations go

Need to watch it again but did he shoot him in the head at the end or is there any chance he was wearing a vest?

    1. Why not just go shoot him in the head? You are there, you have time, just a bullet in the head to be sure. Otherwise I wouldn't count him as dead just yet.

    2. Everyone going on about the Fran scene...basically take right from the Sopranos, only a bit more graphic. Although if you have ever watched Oz, you might understand why I wasn't overly shocked about this scene.

    3. Everyone saying it has to end, its over blah blah, this was exactly the same thing that was said when Darren died, I'm fairly sure they can come up with other stories.

I don't recall many people saying that on here when Darren died. A lot of people were speculating that he could survive but no-one that I recall said that the show couldn't go on.

At that stage, you still had Nidge and Fran - two massive characters. Now, not only do we not have them, Tommy or Darren, we don't even have Elmo. That's the difference. Nothing left to carry on.

The big difference between this and Darren being killed off is Darren was just one of the main characters and still left Nidge & Fran to carry the show.

But now Nidge & Fran are gone(dead & locked up for 10+ years) there is noone to take over. There are no storylines to carry over.

To continue they would have to introduce a whole new main cast, backgrounds & storylines and at that stage it ceases to be the same show

Anyone who thinks Nidge will survive is off their head. No way he is surviving that. Fran's f**ked too. I'm assuming he bled to death, either way, he's not getting out of jail for at least 10 years.

I know people will criticise tonight's episode and I understand why. But f**k me, it had me glued to the TV and fully entertained tonight and throughout the series. That's the job of the show. It's entertainment, not a documentary.

Hats off to all involved in Love/Hate. I presume that this is the end and it's been absolutely fantastic.

I thought it was fizzy orange.

I enjoyed the series as a whole. If its going to finish better it finish on a high rather than fizzling out.

Was this the first episode you watched? It was out of pure revenge.

he was shot once in the back and once in the chest.

people survive those all the time
and usually they don't have the police minutes away to potentially help them either.

Cig/Gaffer will probably arrive on the scene and, to make up for beating the crap out of Nidge, have a moral u-turn and call and ambulance and have him saved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,131 ✭✭✭GottaGetGatt

They played it safe by not shooting him in the head, I'd say he'll survive it that's the way their leaving it open. I think the show will die without him tbh.

It was a decent finale overall up until the last five minutes where it stepped up a gear or two. Sorry to see Nidge get clipped, but in the end it was his poor decision making and paranoia that tripped him up in the end. If this is to be the end, and I reckon with all the main players dead or in jail, then its as good a place as any to leave it. Might give it another watch in a day or two.

One thing this season could have done without Siobhan doing a Nancy Drew the past few episodes. Was a bit far fetched all the same.

    RIP Nidge.

The way I look at how many failed hits has there been in real life reported on RTE News in the last few years these guys get shot how many times and still live.

So my guess is the Nidge will live.

They'll hardly do the same with Nidge as they did with Darren, will they? Have him shot a few times but keep him alive.

Didn't think Nidge and Fran would get it. I thought one would and the other left to go about his business seeing as they're the two main characters. Can't see Fran up to much after that and don't think Nidge will survive.

Had heard there was another season but with half locked up and the other half dead, you're left with Aido, who's hardly the brains of the operation, and the guards.
