    I stopped lifting weights about 8 months ago, due to moving elsewhere and wanting to try Insanity for a while. I've been through Insanity, and about 10 weeks ago hurt my neck, which has stopped me from training at all.

    I've lost a reasonable amount of muscle on my shoulders and chest, but other areas like my arms and delts haven't been hit too hard. Anyway, I'm due to join a gym again in December and will begin lifting weights with a view to bulking, though I'm curious to know whether I'll see any quick wins like when I first started lifting again or whether you only ever get one chance at newbie gains?

    Very hard to say. Probably comes down to genetics. What are your PB's?

    Not much to write home about - I was about 88kg in March;

    Chest press: 92.5
    Deadlift: 140
    Squat: Not something I did regularly due to some knee issues, but was working towards 70kg for 7 - 8 reps

    I always struggled to put on extra weight and strength but am hoping that was due to my diet. I'll be doing the 5x5 and following a pretty strict bulking diet too, as I want to make a proper go of it.
