What beer are we drinking this week, too?

*Cough* Tesco Value Bitter. It has a 2.1% Abv (I am a fan of Bass Shandy.

) It's about 25 p. gbp a can. It's very refreshing and good with a whiskey chaser. Not sure if it is available in Ireland.

Very light and mostly pleasant. Only had the one but don't think I'd be on for a session on them. Cinnamon overload, like cold Chai tea!

Just back from the Franciscan Well again, had a bottle of Jameson stout, Jameson IPA, Lowenbrau Oktoberfest, Tjeeses reserva bourbon and a Struisse Cuvee Delphine. Not nearly enough time to sample all that was on offer. I think it was one of the best beer menus they've ever had.

sampled the White Hag Octoberfest beer on tap and bottled over the weekend.
Very tasty and will be hoping to pick up a few more bottles if i can this week

Tried 8 degrees Nelson Sauvin over the weekend not knowing what to expect. It was unlike any beer I've ever tasted before. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it, could go either way..

Goodbye blue monday is a cracking good beer. Very like punk ipa.

So I bought a few saisons and a few IPA's by Kinnegar earlier.

Which do I go for first?

I like ipa's but I don't think ive ever had a saison. From what I read it's like a heavily carbonated Belgian pale ale.

Thoughts?

Had a Dirty Bastard by Founders last night, first Imperial Red and first Red Ale in months. Lovely stuff and a nice break from IPA's. Also think it was priced wrong @ €2.95

Drink the saison first.
Usually quite dry, moderately hopped with a lovely spicy yeast profile.

Hit that up on Friday. The Struisse Cuvee Delphine was something else altogether, notes of coffee, chocolate and raisins. Managed to hide it's ABV very well.

The dry hopped Saison Dupont was also something special. I've been wiaiting a while to try a Saison that I really liked and I found it in that.

Long wait now until the next festival in the Well.

Having an Innis & Gunn toasted oak IPA. It's alright, nice malt and woody taste. British IPAs are so low on aroma hops though I find, not to my taste. Luckily bought a Punk IPA for afterwards.

Is Mountain Man's Crazy Horse, 7.5% ipa a once off ? Its pretty good

interestingly, it has "bottled by" some English company on the label, and a US importer on it, I think it's an export bottle.

Got Sierea Nevada's Snow Pack, three each of Coffee Stout, Boomerang IPA (made with Australian hops), Porter and Pale Ale.
The coffee stout is lovely, more of a dark chocolate taste than coffee. Not too crazy about the Boomerang though.
