The horrifying thought that has just occurred to me is that instead of RVP/Nolan 2 GWs ago I could have done Aguero/Tadic and had 2 extra transfers to then sort out myself at the back :(

Hindsight is brilliant. I'll try to stop complaining about my own stupidity soon I promise.

You shouldn't punish yourself like that (your transfers already did it for you!!)

Does anyone have a good recommendation for replacing Azpilicueta for the next few weeks? I have nothing in the bank.

Jagielka? Everton have some nice fixtures coming up. If you still want Chelsea coverage could always go with Luis until Azpi is back.

Similar mindset to myself. Have Welbeck also and have stayed away from Tadic/Pelle. Have already got in Baines myself and had to ditch Fab to do so. Sterling stays. Thankfully not for a hit. Things can go really any way though going forward. But definitely more interesting i think.

    :)

Considering going Welbeck to Pelle (Tomkins to Wisdom as a makeweight) with my two FTs. I'm scared of Southampton's fixtures and even though I already have Clyne and Bertrand, I feel like Pelle could outscore Welbeck by 10 points or more over the next four GWs. Sunderland A and Burnley H look great on paper, but we haven't been killing any teams (besides a flu-ridden Aston Villa). Pelle has the trifecta of form, fixtures, and growing ownership.

Bizarrly, Southampton's season is panning out very similar to last year.

    After 8 games...
    Last year - 15
    This year - 16

    Games 9-11 (3 easy fixtures)....
    Last year - Ful (h), Sto (a), Hull (h) - 7pts from 3 games
    This year - Sto (h), hull (a), Lei (h) - ???

    Games 12-21 (rough patch)
    Last year - 6 tough games out of 10 - 8pts from 10 games
    This year - 7 tough games out of 10 - ???

Obviously totally different team/manager etc, just an interesting observations

Very interesting comparison. Crazy how similar their seasons are... and could be.

    That leaves defence:

Taylor, PVA, Moore, Duff and Wisdom.

It's definitely in need of some cash. To get Baines, I'd have to drop one of my midfielders or strikers which I'm not happy to do at present. Therefore I think a good defence can still be obtained on a fairly decent budget. I can go PVA to Kaboul for an initial outlay of .5 million and then Duff to Chambers for a second outlay of 0.5 million. That'll leave me with the following fixtures until January 10th and 1 million in the bank:

    Wisdom Taylor Chambers Kaboul Moore
    Crystal Palace (H) Leicester (H) Sunderland (A) Newcastle (H) Swansea (A)
    Leicester (A) Everton (A) Burnley (H) Aston Villa (A) West Brom (H)
    Newcastle (H) Arsenal (H) Swansea (A) Stoke (H) Southampton (A)
    Chelsea (A) Man City (A) Man Utd (H) Hull (A) Sunderland (H)
    Arsenal (H) Crystal Palace (H) West Brom (A) Everton (H) QPR (A)
    West Ham (H) QPR (H) Southampton (H) Chelsea (A) Liverpool (H)
Hull (A) West Ham (A) Stoke (A) Crystal Palace (H) Aston Villa (A)
    Aston Villa (H) Spurs (H) Newcastle (H) Swansea (A) Man City (H)
    QPR (A) Hull (A) Liverpool (A) Burnley (H) West Ham (A)
    Man City (H) Aston Villa (H) QPR (H) Leicester (A) Spurs (H)
    Stoke (A) Liverpool (A) West Ham (A) Man Utd (H) Hull (A)
    West Ham (A) QPR (A) Southampton (A) Chelsea (H) Liverpool (A)
Hull (H) West Ham (H) Stoke (H) Crystal Palace (A) Aston Villa (H)

Chambers and Kaboul rotate perfectly as they play for Arsenal/Spurs. Moore also rotates with Wisdom and Taylor. If the chance arises in two GWs and he is still playing, I think I'd go for Alcaraz in place of Moore but I want to see if he holds his place with Distin lurking.

I certainly think there's plenty of value available in defence with the five players above costing a total of 22 million.

    Great post Lemlin.

Looking at the table you posted this looks like the perfect plan. On paper... Have to say I've been burnt by the rotation route several times (with the away CS smiling on my bench...) but in reality it's the only route really.

Only thing is Arsenal are in very poor form at the moment. Only 1 CS. And they don't inspire confidence at the back. Chambers is cheap but he could be a real not such good idea. I'd have a lot more confidence in Spurs and Kaboul. Spurs rotate well with palace (34 games) and Chelsea (30 games) so maybe one of these rotation, albeit more expensive, would prove worthier.

No he's right. Just shows his eager ambition this year. He spent the whole last year chasing from very far back just in the vain hope of a top 100k. This year he's in for glory :D. Actually Mr. P did you go down the whole torture route and estimate what eould have been your position had you gone for these 2 moves instead?

Really scratching my head on how I can get Aguero in to my team. Even with 2 FTs, and 2.8 in the bank, it may require a 4pt hit, unless I drop Costa, Fab, or ADM.

Jose saying Costa is out for a while would certainly help you along there! I don't have Fab or ADM and am happy enough with that to be honest would be happy enough to drop one of them to get Aguero they are going to tick over getting assists and the odd goal but they are never going to explode in the same manner Aguero can.

Arsenal have been stung with injuries. Ramsey back now and Walcott v soon. Welbeck still managed to score at the weekend. Up against a S'land defense who's confidence will be absolutely shot. I'm confident having Welbeck. Burnley at home after and generally nice fixtures going forward. There's arguments for Pelle too, for sure (tho more short-term with fixtures in mind). Both good choices and probably not a lot between them, tho I'm confident Welbeck is the better long-term option.

No. No I did not. That could quite easily send me over the edge :pac:

I'd probably be winning the game

I'll be very surprised if Costa doesn't start against United.

Ok I got curious pretty quick. I'd have an extra 33 points I think and would be in 300th place on 516 points :o

If ye'll excuse me a moment.........

I'd have 28 more points if I had captained Costa and Aguero for their hauls :(. But better to look at the positives such as how many points lost if I didn't have them, etc.

Yeah, I'll probably sit on it a couple days and be priced out haha (no wiggle room currently). So many possibilities that it's worth waiting until Friday to make sure everyone is fit and weigh up different options.

This game would send ya over the edge... But feck it look here pal you're doin great and in a great position to kick on. I hereby promise to warn ye off it if I sense another RVP-Nolan bout of madness comin on :D Or just take a moment yourself, look at the Mick tea gif, and....... Go make yourself a cuppa

A cuppa solves most things :)

Best goalie in the under 5.0m bracket? Foster or Krul at 4.5?

If his calf injury is nothing serious Foster. Good fixtures coming for WBA too.

Makes me think that a Foster/Myhill combo, despite much tougher fixtures, would have worked better than my Krul/Elliot...

    Thoughts please...

    Guzan---Speroni
    Ivanovic---Wisdom---Clyne---Williams---Duff
    Sterling---Di María---Fábregas---Schneiderlin---Sigurdsson
    Welbeck---Naismith---Diego Costa

    to

    Guzan---Speroni
    Ivanovic---Wisdom---Clyne---Williams---Duff
    Chadli---Di María---Ramsey---Schneiderlin---Sigurdsson
    Agüero---Naismith---Diego Costa

4pt hit, 0.5 left in bank.

The thing that immediately hit me was that you have too much spent on goalies.......
I wouldn't do the proposed changes either. Ramsey and Chadli just not good enough replacements.....(Ramsey in current form that is)
