Was the Scottish fella just a friend of Aido's or an In Law?

I'm not sure about that, I thought he was just one of the crew who hangs out at the new bar, but you could be right that they are related I might have just missed that bit.

Agreed. Season 2 and 3 are generally seen as the best two seasons of love/hate, but this is matching them so far in my opinion. A strong second half to this season will definitely put it on par with them.

Very impressed with Aoibhinn McGinnity (Trish) in the few moments she has been in it this season. Thought she was superb in that crying scene last week.

Yes, I think as well this is one of the best seasons. Certainly, a lot of violence, suspense, tension and betrayals so far. Very good storylines and tying up ones from seasons 2, 3 and 4 very nicely.

Traditionally, the middle episodes of Love/Hate have been the quieter ones. Definitely not the case last night! It was one of the most violent ones, especially the prison fight.

I think the second half will be very strong. Potential characters most at risk are: Elmo, Siobhan, Pauley and Paddy with perhaps Trish and Nidge's children also at risk (I believe both Nidge and Fran will survive).

How can you say the informer story is going nowhere? I think everyone has missed the most important part tonight, Nidge has put elmo in charge of the drugs, He has buried them for now and he will hand them over to ever nidge tells him to in possibly the next episode, Siobhan has informed the guards about elmo so he is a watched man and he will lead them straight to the drugs, Elmo will be a deadman walking nidge will owe big balls a lot of money without any drugs to sell, All in all Siobhan has caused uproar by informing, Sometimes it's the little things you have to listen to for a story to unfold

It noted too that Siobhan was uneasy with Pauley and was startled by him in fact in the last scene of them. She is in dangerous territory here with Nidge annoyed about their relationship and all hell would break loose with both Nidge and Pauley if either found out about her secret meetings with Moynihan.

this is pathetic . it reminds of people predicting what will happen in soaps .

It would nearly be worth it just to witness the outrage from the media and general public.

Overall I thought tonights episode was quite good. Sets things up nicely for the next few episodes. I thought the Siobhan and Pauly scenes worked quite well. I am fairly sure that Pauly is a bit suspicious of where Siobhan goes at night, could lead to her downfall.

Aido may very well side with Pauly against Nidge in future as he is going to blame him for Pottsie's eye. Fair play to Fran though, he roughed the lads up good and proper. The fight scene was pretty tense.

The climax of series 5 ... Darren comes out of the shower!

Pauley seemed a bit suspicious of Siobhan and the late visit. He knows she is up to something else. Pauley could find out very easily leaving her in danger. How would Nidge react? She is family but she poses arguably the biggest threat to Nidge. Pauley could follow her and then tell Nidge and then she could say she knows about Tommy.

Fran was excellent last night as usual. The fight was good. Looking forward to what will happen between him and Noelie next time. For now, Noelie seems more interested in keeping his head down and ignoring Fran. He said he won't do Nidge's dirty work. But when Nidge tells him about what Fran did to his dead mother, then that will be a different matter!!

This thread is unreal, the amount of posters who don't seem to know anything about characters or storylines is unbelievable!

Its like some of them just watched one episode.

    I'm lost. Who's everyone again?

How do we know Patrick is a traveller again?

    Who's your man Love/Hate again?

    WATCH THE F'N SHOW!!!

And that's when Elmo will turn rat for real.

I think Janet is a definite contender for turning against nidge, something will happen Aran and she'll blame nidge, or instead of helping the son nidge will do the opposite. There's nought like a mothers love, and Janet has shown herself to be tough with people in the past.

Also, nidge is being a bit dumb saying his goodbyes to Trish , leaving herself and warren to fend for themselves. Why he doesn't think the fran would directly order a hit on the house is beyond me, seeing as nidge got linda.

The nefarious effects of E/MDMA were depicted in a very gritty and realistic manner.
I took xtc for a few years and it never had that effect on me.Passing out on top of a building after thinking I was doing the scene from Titanic at the edge of a building/ship.lol

I found it very realisitic! Of course I only remember bits and pieces, but the writers obviously done their research.

I am enjoying this but i think they missed a good opportunity to let them tension build up between Nidge and Fran by locking him so quick.

It is only a short series so I suppose they do have rush things along.

Finally caught up on the thread! Too busy watching the show to post.

Moynihans surprise at Siobhan mentioning Elmo. He is so underrated that, they didn't even think to watch him. Even here on the thread we don't rate him. (Can't beat up a gnome,do the wrong thing with them)

ah Jesus deano sang like a Canary. although I thought he would've said about the dogs being a way to get to Fran.

Aido should realise that it's Nidge/his fault the brother lost the eye.

Aido has Nadine driving, because you can't watch all around you and drive aswell.

Cheers for The Wire spoiler for those of is who haven't seen it yet.

I'm very sorry. I didn't realise something that happened 10 years ago could be spoiled at this stage.

The original post has been amended to include a spoiler tag- you might do the same with your quote of it.

Only thing I had to watch the end over for was who was sitting with Pottsie in the hospital. At first glance I thought it was Paulie and wondered *wtf is he doin there*.....but a rewatch now and think it was just a prison guard, although I didn't see one with Fran.
    wha?

That facial expression tells me Trish is starting to smell the coffee. She's got to play a more prominent role yet?

not having a go here, but the boards demographic is probably somewhat skewed to the early-mid 20s, meaning that when The Wire aired many people would have been 10-15, and possibly not in a position to appreciate or even watch The Wire (and other shows from the time).

It's also unfair to expect that everyone will have seen every show - some people may just not have gotten around to it yet. And given how lauded The Wire is, you'd imagine that anyone who enjoys watching Box Sets of excellent TV shows, or catching them on Netflix either now or in the future, is going to want to watch The Wire. I think it's common courtesy to automatically include Spoiler Tags for any show or film other than the one being discussed in the current thread. This is the Love/Hate thread, including Love/Hate Spoilers, I don't think anyone should expect to have any other show, whether it aired in the 60s or in the 90s or yesterday, to be spoiled on them in this thread.

Especially in this era of digital, on-demand content.

I'm in my mid-30s myself, and missed it when it was on originally, also, I suspect you yourself didn't catch the original run.

Your post spoiled something on me, and I'm in the middle of the last season of The Wire, so thanks for that.

    So what.

Is everyone expected to have watched everything that was ever on TV up to a certain, arbitrary, time frame?

I hate this attitude, it's fairly dickish to be honest.

Maybe the guy was 12 6 years ago, do you expect him to have followed a series since he was 7 years old?

"Oh well if you haven't watched The Wire up until now, it's your own fault for reading a Love/Hate thread and getting it spoiled"

Or maybe just stay off the internet altogether in case anything gets spoiled for you.
    Get over it.

Well no, you are still being dickish.

I avoid The Wire forum here, and also any other threads that are clearly labelled The Wire. Or any TV Websites in general, as they are normally populated by dickheads who don't understand much about human courtesy.
