Paulie probably ends dead up to start a new clash for the next series.

Siobhan heavy episode next week by the looks of it.

Bit like Pure Mule id say it will be very much a Siobhan focused episode by the looks of things and to be honest I hate these focused episodes.. There may not be much discussion going on this time next week.

RTE only seem to renew it on a year by year basis and season 6 hasnt been greenlit yet. The creator and head writer says he he already has half of next year's season ready to go.

I think this is part of the real problem with love hate - there are only 2 main characters left.

How on earth can the writer write well if - every year we and he is unsure if another one is coming.

Can you kill off nidge or fran - it is sort of the end when that happens.

He's been working on Borstal Boy flat out, which is two and a half hours on stage full time for him, so I'd reckon he doesnt have a huge part to play in the rest of Love/Hate... I got that impression from him on the Late Late on Friday night as well..

I'd presume that they'd have had all 6 episodes long in the can at this stage mind...

Sorry if anyone has already asked but I haven't read any of this thread to avoid spoilers :o I didn't get a chance to watch tonight's episode. When does it appear on the rte player?

If you are watching online, you do not see any ad's or trailers, this could be why some people get antsy about potential spoilers.

Only minor complaint would be the big deal that was made of the cop catching Fran in possession with a gun. Seemed like the whole station was out celebrating it. Bit OTT no?

Possession of a firearm is one of the most heavily punished crimes in Ireland behind murder etc. You would be looking at 10 years minimum if you were in Fran's position.

That would be 10 years for Fran in real life, they'll obviously have him cut some deal to get out.

Has he previous convictions? No way would he get ten years for yielding a firearm, maybe 6 at most

Id say Paulie will know someone willing to whack Fran inside although Fran could possibly know someone willing to whack Nidge too. Wonder will we see Noelie Hughes at some stage? :)

If youlook at the first series and thought they'd kill of John Boy and Darren you'd think there wouldn't have been much left. I reckon Nidge gets killed by the end and Paulie takes on a bigger part.

Hope Tommy has some input in this series!

not a great place to even ask that then ?

    Is this the last series?

Really unlikely that it will be. RTE have struck gold with it and stuart carolan (the writer) is keen for another series. He says he's half way through writing it here

10 years in the mandatory minimum sentence.

    Ya wha'?

He's a fantastic actor and although I know it's not real, he frightens me. How he's isolated on his own with the caravan. I remember a scene that they just had him sitting out in the middle of his own drinking, and it chilled me, and then him with the mask last season. Scary stuff. I know it sounds stupid but there's something about him, creeps me out major. I guess that means he's a well written character and a fantastic actor

Nidge was an interesting character and was well played. Pauly is just bland and average.

Yes but we are way deeper into it now - I couldn't at this stage go on with a new character. I couldn't - IMO Fran Nidge game over.

Read somewhere that Noelie Hughes is in S5, and I assume he was locked up for the failed hit on Fran last season, so it makes sense he will encounter Fran in jail.

Nidger to recruit Noelie Hughes to do an inside job on Fran the man? :pac:

Fran must go witness the git finger reference was too much last week and Siobhan hearing it too.

Who Psycho Fran? Hmm yeah he might have a bit of form alright with him smuggling, illegal dog fighting, suspected of murdering a dentist, being an asscoiate of John Boy and Nidge, Glassing one of his best mates... :D

    Great acting by Coonan.
Thought the way Patrick told him was a bit silly tbh and the cops are totally uninteresting. Filler material in a story that isn't moving much.

Paulie is stone faced as he is stomping his (or Terrences) authority over Nidge.

I love the way Fran says 'Nidgy' :D

My extensive criminal legal expertise (gained from detective tv shows) tells me that Fran is part of a larger investigation so he won't be held for longer than a week on the firearms charge :D

    That was Fran-fcukin-tastic!
