    Garth Brooks, remember him

There was a time there during the summer that you'd think he owned the country.
Every news report was about him, our national pride was at stake, we were baying for the blood of the county manager & the residents.

    Now . . . . not a peep . . . life has moved on . . . we really are a fickle bunch
We'll be watching Reeling in the Years 20 years from now cringing through our fingers.

The best thing to happen all year were those concerts.

Then they ****ed him out of the country.

Only to be faced with water bills and crap and another cold depressing winter. Followed by sweet **** all next summer.

    His Excellency Bertie Ahern

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Funny, I thought Ireland was supposedly destined to languish in a perpetual wilderness of international sanctions if the vested corporate and GAA interests weren't allowed to bully the local authority into getting their own way.
