Well.... He wants a debate and he wants to have it with "online anonymous bloggers"....

We'll I'm happy to step up to that debate. I'm happy with any location and time he chooses.

I'd like to ask for help pushing this into social media (or in fact any media!) to make this happen :)

Well, if it stops idiots commenting on stories in the Journal...

His Wiki page some needs spicing up.

It's all silk ties and premium rate phone calls at the moment.

Comedy gold. That politician wants negative comment outlawed.

Luddite, I went to twitter to have an honest discussion with the man about this and he doesn't seem to have an account. He wants to engage with online commenters but gives absolutely no way to do so apart from signing up to an email list on his FF page.

I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised considering this is coming from a 63 year old FF senate lifer.

An out of touch politician who's scared of the facilities that the internet offers...

This along with Facebook seeming to insist on people using their legal names (at least only in the States so far) is setting off a dangerous precedent.

So long as nobody is being harmed, and I'm sorry but criticism is not causing anyone harm, then people should be free to use whatever nom de plume they wish to use.

    Dear God, Ballymagash.

Didn't the Orish Times change their registration set up so that you have to submit your own Real World name?

Another example of why we should have taken the opportunity to remove this waste of resources and talking shop for failed politicians or pseudo unelectable candidates when we had the chance.

Still reeling from that myself. Thought the chance to clean things up would be seized by an electorate jaded with nonsense from politicians.

Have to accept it as a democrat.

I know well that anonymity poses problems but politically it can be very healthy.

Work colleague here returned from the great land to the east and informed us that a lad speaking out against the government got sent to the cooler. Not for a few days. But for the rest of his life. I don't want to bring any hyperbolic direct connection between this scenario and the senator's call, but it is from the same root and must be watched by all who care for freedom from tyranny.

Politicians and the internet never mix well.

Remember that'd eejit a few years ago who wanted to put time limits on how long you could spend on the internet at one time or something?

Edit: Nevermind, it was gaming consoles

This is the problem with democracy, idiots get to vote too.

Install me as Great and Fair Ruler Wazinski and I'll make everything good again.

She's probably unemployable as anything else.

Fianna Fail should be registered on the list of proscribed organisations after what they did to the people in this country

It was utterly baffling how the eloctorate decided to keep these good ol boys in the lap of lucury for doing nothing.
That Norris whinger has barely been heard of since. Is that the only thing he's done all the years he's been hoovering up the salary and expenses?

I think the important question from that video is who are the weird guys in the back who are wearing white? they look like some weird religious acolytes. I did like they way they all sidled away like crabs halfway through.

He just wants to show off that he thinks he understands enough to have an opinion.

He's never going to understand any counterpoint to his argument and any attempt to provide a counterpoint will only make him dig in further. It's a waste of time to give this kind of commentary any talk time IMO.

What does Senator Les Whinen think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭cajonlardo

In fairness, hasn't he the epitome of a F.F Gombeen Head on him?

Didn't he get caught running up thousands of Euros bill on a premium rate line through a Dail Phone? Voting for Healy Rae on a reality show?

All the comments above about people voting for these eejits, F.F voters would drag themselves out of their graves and go to the ballot. The blame lies squarely on those who let apathy rule the day and did not vote or did not use their vote wisely.
