Maybe they just want a product that is designed to work right out of the box, instead of one that needs bloat ware removing, rooting, modding etc?

Non Apple phones also work right out of the box. And people also 'root'/jailbreak iphones for the same reasons as Android.

iphone users, well..are not as well versed in modding, rooting, apps, and stuff as other smart phone users. most iphone users would struggle to tell you what o/s they were running.
Seeing as you don't know most of them, that's just a silly assertion. ;)

iPhone users are, by the law of averages, no better or worse at technology than Android users are.
I may be clueless about technology but I'm not most Apple users.

I also don't really get the fanboyism when it comes to consumer electronics. I mean, queueing up for hours to get the latest gadget? It's really quite pathetic in all honesty. And I say that in relation to all brands, but there really is almost a religious zeal when it comes to Apple and it's 'followers'.

I speak as someone who has used the same Macbook for the last 6 years, and who owned an iPod before that too. But I currently have an android phone, which I usually only replace every 4 or so years. And my mac will likely be replaced with a windows machine soon enough.

The real utter total geek weirdos are the - always Android users - who post and start threads on other people's choices.

And no it doesn't with the other way.

androids work right out of the box also but you can make them much better with custom roms (for gratis), not than apple users would know anything about it.

Nah, my wife the software developer who owns an iphone would know nothing about it, only technical geniuses like yourself would...

People queue for everything. Don't make me post pictures of the people who queued for Windows 95. It's not a pretty picture. And the Xbox. And no doubt most Android phones.

People queued for the zune. For christs sake.

I like most iPhone users I know won't queue. In fact I have a 3 year old phone. I may not upgrade. The 4S is fine and I don't like big screens.

Strange that the phone geeks who post threads about other people's choices and are clearly subject to marketing - Samsung alone spends more than Apple - and, who in real life bore the world to tears with their DPI specs whilst salivating over their fifth phone in 4 years call those of us with 3 year old phones fanatics.

I see it all the other way.

You are right that tiny percent of iPhone buyers are utterly bonkers.

Is it as sad as starting a thread on a forum about other people's choices of phone?

let he who speaks, bestow the world with his iphone software developing wife in tow., probably writing more apple eco software.

not really, just want to see others opinions, but it seems i am up against quite a gutsy apple fanboy entourage.

which is a lot worse for apple users who would struggle to integrate with anything but something written by apple (and pay for it mostly), and fwiw my galaxy s4 works right out of the box and i have used nothing but OTA updates.

It's both sides, look sites the verge and others. Bloody annoying is what it is, I personally use both iOS and Android with a preference for the latter.

Apples talent is not only in its ability to make very good products, but also that it has probably the best marketing team since the Vatican came into existence. No matter if they have genuinely made something truly innovative such as the iPhone and iPad, or something which they claim as innovative like the 5, 6/6 Plus or the Apple Watch the tech world will look on it as a miracle, because of that marketing talent.

At different stages in the past few years I have owned and used all of the major phone OS's. Android, IOS, windows, symbian, blackberry etc etc and by far my favorite is android but saying that I am as far from a fanboy as can be. My philosophy is to each their own and that's the end of it.

What I hate though is the arrogance of the fanboys out there and in my social group at least it seems to come out more in the IOS users than anything else. They forever let me know that IOS is better than android and I am using an inferior phone and etcetera etcetera. Don't get me wrong I have had the same from certain android users as well over the years but I have come across it way more with the apple users.

Have to admit I despise the apple keynotes when they pretend they have invented the wheel when the technology they are showing off has been available on the market for years already.

Despite being an iOS user I completely agree with you. Sometimes the simple things annoy me in iOS, such as the alert tone only applying to text messages. Apps such as WhatsApp and Tinder are stuck to the default Apple alert tones and you can't use your own.

I'd love to give Windows Phone a try for my next device but the lack of apps will probably hold me back.

I never said she developed iphone software. Your reading skills seem to be lacking somewhat.

    MOD

I should have known from the start how this was going to go. Take it to Consumer Electronics if you want to continue the discussion
