The man still had a agenda right up to 2006.

Its only when he got ill that he saw the light.

The man hopefully rots in hell.

A disgusting human being and as dangerous as they came.

But hey he was good bloke in his 80s

The 'soldiers' of loyalism weren't so brave when the guns arrived in Nationalist neighbourhoods.

Ah the RTE archives, a truly impartial source. Just like the history classes in Irish schools, both north and south. Propaganda, but two sides of it.

Not one of you has had an unbiased teaching of history. I was appalled to see what my eldest child was taught when we lived in Ireland and equally appalled at what my youngest was taught in England.

    Sounds appalling indeed. Any examples?

It didn't convince Gerry Adams to join though, so he obviously wasn't that good.:pac:

Ah c'm on! Lighten up everyone.

I don't need to lighten up. Just quoting an interview from an hour ago. In which, as you decided not to quote, there was strong praise of paisley. Geez!

No problem Grandpa - I was anticipating a reaction to my post, not anyone's reaction to yours. Apologies for the confusion.

Its only when he got ill that he saw the light.

I don't believe he saw any light. He got cornered and ended up with, in his own words, 'no choice'.

Paisley thought decommissioning* was going to be a step too far for the IRA and would ensure that he would keep SF out of government. The IRA decommissioned and Paisley had no more hurdles to put in the way of progress.

*despite the fact that the IRA's most destructive weapon and the one that caused most trouble for British was the off-the-shell fertilizer bomb

The video speaks for itself. It's not an opinion piece.
Edit: your link was disabled in my post

It's a video of the aftermath of sectarian ethnic cleansing in Belfast.

I'd say it will be mostly a mix of decent people paying respects regardless of their opinion and a load of keyboard warriors starting off an online war of words.

You can be decent without being a hypocrite.
    Here is honesty.
I hated the prick nearly as much as I hated Thatcher while they both were alive-and as I was with Thatcher when she died,I'm not gonna say nice things about Paisley just because he is dead.

    A Paisley quote:

"I will never repudiate the fact that I am an Irishman".

That is an insult to any real Irish person.

The most bloodthirsty psychopath of the troubles. Cared for nothing only for his own twisted agenda and attention seeking. But despite all the trouble he caused, which he seemed to revel every moment in, he showed his falseness at the end by doing a deal in order to stay relevant in the limelight, rather than sticking to his so called principles and riding off into the sunset.

His Funeral will be an interesting occasion. You'll have one crowd burning the Union Jack and effigys of the Queen and another waving irish flags and effigys of the pope. Then there's the Shinners..

A grim man from a very grim time. Tonight I feel sorry for his family, but to be honest, I've felt sorry for them for a long time. He made a living and a profile from nothing but pure hatred, and then, lately, when he did start to calm down and mellow out, I always thought to myself " What the hell were you at back then??" Maybe he thought the same himself towards the end. But he'll always be remembered for his aggressive noise and wasted energy, and that is his own fault. A sorry individual indeed. He should be remembered though, to show people that hatred and aggression is a wasted way of thinking and no good will ever come of it.
