This thread is turning into one large ground hog day with the potential to last to infinity.

I was in school. Had just got in to see the second tower being hit. I was 9 and I remember saying to my mother that Clinton got out just in time.

We had just arrived home, my mom was in Dublin that day which meant when my dad was in charge, we had complete control of the tv before homework was done. I had just started in secondary school too, so it would have been 3:30 when I got home.

Raced to turn on rte 2, for the den or whatever it was being called then, but there was nothing on any of the channels apart from lots of smoke and buildings. Nothing else was coming on, didn't really understand what had happened, or what was going on but knew it was serious when even my dad was horrified.

    Eh?

    Explain.

what planet have you been living on since 2001? everything is more expensive since 911, the price of oil being one of the main aggregators, joined side by side with ever increasing budgets for war/spying etc that could be going to much better causes such as job creation, education, science etc etc

the global financial costs alone of this never ending war are astronomical and it's getting bigger year on year

The most interesting aspect over the next number of years for me with this thread will be keeping progress on the status of Super Rush's relationship - getting married having kids, first days of school, the teenage years, going to college, grand children etc

That's more interesting to me than the circular rehashed hash hashed out each year with the tedium of all that's been said having been said.

I was inside in a bookies and i saw it on one of the smaller tvs, didnt take much notice at first as i was watching the racing as were all the others in there, then went to the pub to watch it all unfold.

Footage came out a few years ago that showed WTC consumed by raging fires sparked by the collapsing towers, not explosives or whatever it is 911 'truthers' would have you believe.

And lots of demolition specialists have said that the towers didn't collapse in a manner consistent with a controlled explosion.

I find the conspiracy theories boring tbh and that community itself is incredibly cultish. A bunch of people who have a long-standing distrust of authority and that balloons into hatred and extreme paranoia.

I remember reading about Charlie Veitch, one of the British 911 conspiracy theorists who 'changed his mind' after extensive research and interviews about 911 and his description of how he was threatened and bullied and harassed and his life virtually fcuked up by these guys in the aftermath of that was positively terrifying.

To say that "99.9% of the planet" of the planet have been affected by 9/11 is fúcking ridiculous.

My Uncle was on the second plane that hit the the South Tower and he rang me just before it crashed. I'll never ever forget his last words

Remember your statement next time you're going through security before a flight, or filling fuel, or watching the rise of ISIS, or Syrias decline, or viewing drone footage. The list goes on. It was a game changer, and to me, a convenient one.

Security before a flight, or filling fuel:

This doesnt affect 99% of the world. Certainly not the Second and Third World countries.

The rise of ISIS, or Syrias decline:

This doesnt affect 99% of the First World. We might watch it on the TV news briefly but people also watch X Factor too and seem to be ok.

The one begets the other. I think you're missing the forest for the trees.

We all watched the second tower get hit live on RTE, open-mouthed in horror, Mrs. Flaherty with tears rolling down her cheeks.

I seriously doubt you watched the second tower get hit live on TV - it wasn't that huge a news story before the second collision. It was probably a replay you saw.

Yes it was....among the Islamic terrorists.

The biggest attack on amercian soil. 3000 or so killed and all they spend is 16 million on an investigation. They spent more on the Clinton investigation. It's a pretty big insult to the amercian people but of course if you question what happened your a nutjob.

Tbf the biggest insult is the way the rescue workers have been treated in terms of medical care.

Considering what the resue workers did that day(s)and the list of ailments that some suffer from, to be completely shafted by their goverment.

The one time that money shouldnt have mattered and yet that is always boils down to.

There is always money for tanks and bombs but yet when it comes to like that that should be top of the list then all of a sudden money cant be found.

I woke up late that day, just after noon, so I didnt see it live like a lot of people I spoke to that evening. It was Sky News and the BBC for rolling news all day as the images kept coming out and the whispers of where Ireland would start in World War 3 began. It thankfully didnt come to that of course but nothing was being ruled out in the initial few days after.

You woke up at midday? Sure it didn't happen until 1.50pm (Irish time)

Anyway, speaking of Irish time. It was 11/9 and not 9/11

I was between jobs at the time in Dublin, so managed to get a stop-gap job with Budget car hire in Drumcondra. I came home for lunch and saw the breaking news about the plane striking the first tower, and I was sitting in a car wash listening to the live updates when the 2nd plane struck.

I also met Daniel O'Donnell and Bertie Ahern within the same 10 minutes, all very surreal.

Many people saw it live. Here it Dublin (and anywhere GMT) it happened around lunchtime. As said in other posts, you'd have watched coverage from just after the first plane in a bookies, in a pub or in a school (TV would have been on in the staffroom).
On Sky they were speculating that the first plane may have been a small private airplane until the second jumbo went in. Initially everybody (including the presenter) thought the 2nd bird was on a rescue mission. Nobody had ever seen anything like it before.

Have you watched 'Sicko' by Michael Moore? He covers this very topic, well worth a watch.

I remember the second attack was simultaneously on a bunch of channels, including non news channels like Sky One and the RTEs. It was surreal flicking through the stations and the screen not changing.

    Ms

I was working away not too far from home that day. Did not know anything about it untill about 2pm Irish time. The brother had just come back to the site from home and told us. He had gone home for lunch but I think he did not eat any after seeing that. Of course I did not believe him straight away and said your messing . He said no its real go down to the van listen to the radio thats all thats on. So I did and was lost for words I think we all were. It was not till after 5pm that I got to see pics on the tv and was really shocked and sickened that someone could do something like that and still lost for words.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

It was live. Anchor was reporting that it was an 'tragic accident' when we switched the TV on, until the second plane hit.

No TV cameras captured the first hit live.

Of course not. Footage from tourists and security cameras etc. emerged later. But the second plane was live worldwide. As the above posters said, even non-news channels were on it.
