Reading things like this makes me sick. Not just the attack, but the other things associated with it. How utter garbage like this rise to fame has me baffled

Sadly because he is (well, until the last year or so was) one of the very very best around at what he does. And as spiralism mentioned, he was squeaky clean before this... for all we know he was an abusive scumbag during that time, but a modern sports mansgement/PR team can mask and hide a lot of ugly truths of a players life (just as with celebrities, etc).

That suspension couldn't have happened at a worse time for the NFL. However as it followed a process agreed in the CBA by the union, their hands were tied.

Still doesn't excuse them for f*&king up the original Rice ruling.
That's true as well, but as Adam "pacman" Jones (who is hardly a stranger to the auld suspension here and there) said the other day, Goodell and the NFL base their decisions on media attention and public outcry more than anything. It's just shameful, because they obviously saw the video in the elevator long before last week... I mean, did they really expect it to not get out in this day and age?

Apparently they are looking into relaxing their rules on the likes of marijuana which makes sense, but Josh Gordon is a great example why these kind of black and white rulings they try to enforce just don't work.

Harbaugh said the reason they didnt act sooner was because they never saw the tape and there is a big difference in hearing what happened and actually seeing it, ffs, "so did you hear ray lewis knocked out his wife and dragged her out of an elevator ah shur we didnt see it ban him for 2 months" he probably knocked her out by bumping up against her he is a big lad after all, give me strength:rolleyes: very bad from the ravens methinks

Time to change to Raymond buddy!
I know that might bring back horrible memories of being in trouble with the parents.

    Ray Rice not Ray Lewis!

Dragging Ray Lewis' name into this, all he's done is been involved in a murder!!

He seems a scumbag, but my sympathy for her is quite a bit diminished after reading that.

Do you feel sympathetic for people who hand over money to fortune tellers and faith healers too?

Generally I tend not to feel overly sympathetic for weak minded, easily manipulated people.

What I can't understand is why after getting belted that she went and married this multi millionaire football player....
Hardly unprovoked. She slaps him in the face before they get into the lift. It's no excuse for his scumbag behaviour , but she is not entirely without blame in the incident.
Given her subsequent behaviour, it would appear that she's perfectly happy to put up with a bit of domestic abuse as long as she can continue to enjoy the millionaire lifestyle.

I wouldn't waste your time shedding too many crocodile tears for her - they probably deserve each other.

    Sounds like a lovely chap.

Also, she married him after this? Wtf.

Wait.....she still married him after that?

She probably didn't need to go ahead and marry him and declare he is the love of her life and attack people who criticize his actions though?

No they don't, they just give speculative reasons as to why she might have stayed.

Same as I can speculate that she stayed (and married him) because she's quite taken with the millionaire lifestyle and didn't fancy giving it up.

God that video was difficult to watch, the way her head hit the railing and the way he dumped out of the lift like a sack of potatoes. I saw a slightly longer version and people seemed to be walking past, did he dump her out into the lobby? He deserves everything he got. Man or woman no one should get away with that it's just a pity that so many men and women never have their abuse revealed so that others outside of them can help them. It sickens me that his NFL claimed they hadn't seen the footage until it was released by TMZ Of course they had they just didn't want to lose him as a player and wanted to protect themselves.

Anyway, how could they have given him a two game ban without even having glanced at the video? Surely if they had known it had occurred in the lift they would have requested the CCTV. I feel sorry for his wife, I can understand why some victims stay. It's hard to judge someone when you aren't in their shoes. She protecting him because she's in denial thinking he will change for their child and scared most likely.

She posted up this after the media response: “No one knows the pain that the media and unwanted options (sic) from the public has caused my family,” she said. “To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing.”

I just really hope that he's not taking it out on her physically.

If she's been with him since high school, I'd imagine she is quite taken with the lifestyle. It'd certainly be an additional barrier building up enough motivation to leave, and that whole high school sweetheart nonsense is usually more than enough to keep someone committed to an awful relationship once it's dragged on past college. Don't see how that makes her more accountable for him being a brute though.

...and if she only wanted to maintain that lifestyle, she could throw him under a bus now and make a fortune from it, instead she's making herself a huge target by defending the dude.

Just an update on this. Ray Rice's suspension has been overturned and he is now a free agent and eligible to return to the NFL immediately. I wonder if any team will sign him?

I'm guessing it will all be forgotten about by next season.
Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has taken a big step toward a possible return to the NFL.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported Friday that Rice won his appeal, a decision that lifts his indefinite suspension from the league, according to a source directly involved in the situation. Rice is immediately eligible to return to action.

The NFL Media Group obtained Judge Barbara S. Jones' summary and decision in which Jones ruled that Rice did not mislead Commissioner Roger Goodell, and therefore, should not have been disciplined beyond the initial two-game suspension with an additional fine of one week's salary.

Someone will take a shot on him. It'll probably be a team like the Raiders - they like bad boy lame ducks!

Personally, I think he should never play again. As for his wife - words fail me.
