"John Delaney could run anything. He could run UEFA. Easily."

Two obvious typos. It should read:

"John Delaney could ruin anything. He could ruin UEFA. Easily."

Any reason why you think he couldn't?

FAI is 50 million in debt

Not something for the CEO to be proud of

John Delaney is a hero. He should run UEFA.

His failure to run his own national association with any degree of success?

While the state of the national team is obviously not the only criteria in the judgement of the CEO of the FAI, how much weight should it be given?

Teh national team has continued to slide down the rankings. While he has been instrumental in getting the new stadium built, teams like Arsenal (I'm not comparing them in football terms) showed that the team can remain competitive whilst having to be constrained by budget.

At this point, given the years he has been in the job, is the lack of high quality players coming through for the senior team, seen as an inditement of the overall effectiveness of the FAI and therefore its CEO.

Go the whole hog and give him the bloody FIFA job. Anybody but Blatter at this point.

Ah would ya schtop. A bit of debt is nothing to be ashamed of. The economy just took a bad turn, that's all.

Look at the League of Ireland. The league winning team gets prize money of €100k, Delaney earns €360k a year. In fact his wage is greater than the cumulative prize money for the entire LOI. He's a joke of a CEO

Doesn't the winning team of the LoI get something like €100,000 where he's on a half a mil salary or something? Something rotten there.

    edit: snap

All the rotten fcukers are sorted out in this country while big Dennis pulls the strings. I'm looking at this fella ending up in Irish water.

The affiliation fee for the following year then comes out of that and back to the FAI and I think that's €19,000. Joke of association.

I think he has a point.

FAI = Joke: Delaney, UEFA = Joke: Plantini.

Two shameful organisations, both poorly ran so I don't see how Delaney would be any different to UEFA than Plantini.

Perhaps the only stumbling block would be trying to placate the whole of Europe with a few cans of Carlsberg on a train.

Absolutely insane. I didn't realise it was that bad. Let's not forget that the majority of the top flight clubs in the country are far from healthy as well and it looks like the FAI is doing little to force/help them resolve their respective situations.

The FAI looks at the senior international team as the cash cow and the rest of the game can do what it likes. Alas, the senior international team is not bring in the crowds, with the last two home games attracting 30K people in total. They have sold just over 10K season tickets which are far cheaper than they were when they were introduced years ago. The FAI is probably banking on the English, Poles and Scots bringing large numbers to their respective games, as it will give them some much needed revenue. The English game might sell out actually because it's England and it'll attract the usual clown element from here.

Yep. And only the top three places in the premier league pay more than €19,000 in prize money. Which means unless you get top three, you're already at a loss before paying stewards, gardai, utilities etc.

+1 on this. How does this **** still go on in this day and age? Is there actually nothing that can be done? Irish clubs cant be happy with his leadership. If they even combined to boycott 1 weekend of football to highlight the hypocrisy and to shame the FAI golden circle into change

It's infuriating. Countries like Cyprus, Slovenia and Scotland are able to produce clubs that qualify for the Champions / Europa League.
