    I am terrible for this:

I always thought the chorus to Smashing Pumpkin's 'Bullet with Butterfly Wings' was, instead of "Despite all my rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage,

I thought it was: Despite all my rage, I am still just ready to cage (thought it was a metaphor for falling to pieces emotionally :o)

I posted this on facebook in a comment once to a friend and she had to correct me once and for all. :o

Seriously?! I thought it was rat too!

EDIT Nevermind I got confused. Ivy sleep now.

I always thought "Shorty" was "Charlie" for a lot of rap songs. Always wondered who Charlie was...

    "Go Charlie, it's your birthday"

    :o

The last two words of the song ARE 'fried chicken'!

    Imagine - John Lennon

'No need for greed, or hunger, or Brotherhood of Man'

It was 'a brotherhood of man', not the crappy 70s 'group' who it seemed were never off the telly in those days.

    So many of these.

For years I thought the lyrics to "Do they know it's Christmas" were "Freedom, Woaahh" rather than feed the world.

More recently with "Stolen Dance" I thought it was "stolen paradise" rather than stoned in.

Also of course (which has been well documented across the internet), in Jay Z's 'Empire State of Mind' the chorus definitely sounds like she's saying "Concrete Jungle wet dream tomato"

Dire straits have a song Two Young Lovers, with

Her mama used to say, 'it's getting late sweetheart
It's time that boy went home'

    Thought it was

    Get laid sweetheart
It's time you brought a boyfriend home

    Made sense...

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping
I dreamt I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear, I was mistaken
So I hung my head, and I cried

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

I'll always love you and make you happy
If you will only say the same
But if you leave me to love another,
You'll regret it all one day

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine away

Makes "Every move you make" seem positively light-hearted.

Please don't take my sunshine away...

That will forever remind me of this (2:30 onwards if you want to cut to the chase, viewer discretion is advised) :

Not just you l, I had to read that 3 times thinking to myself "but it IS rat".

My syntax was confusing. To clarify, I always thought I heard, DEspite all my rage, I am still just ready to cage (Thinking cage was somesort of a metaphor for being in a tight corner, in a bad place) :o

Classic 90's dance CHOON Freed From Desire by Gala:

"My lover's got no money, he's got his trampolines
My lover's got no power, he's got his trampolines....

    Freed from Desire,
    My incense is purified
    Freed from Desire,
    My incense is purified"

Apparently it's "strong beliefs" and "mind and senses" rather than "trampolines" and "my incense". :o
Oh well, at least I got the "na na na na na na na" bit right! :p

Also I genuinely thought Sandi Thom was singing "I wish I was a prawn cracker with flowers in my hair", wasn't 'til I heard the title of the song being said that I realised I had it wrong.

I used to think 'Forever in blue jeans' was 'for Reverend Blue Jeans' imagining a really cool priest. I said this before on a thread here but was accused of stealing it from 'King of Queen's'. I've never ever watched that show:)
I thought the line in The Police song "are spirits in the material world" was "upstairs in the material world".
My husband up until last Sunday morning thought "Raspberry beret" was "the last American girl":D:D:D
My son thought 'Feed the world woohoh" was "we know woohoh!":D

Billy Ray Cyrus - Achy Breaky Heart

There's a line somewhere in that song where I hear:
    'you can tear my arse'.

Hannah Montonna/Miley Cyrus - party in the usa

There's a line in that where I hear:
    I'm humping on the floor

I used to think brown eyed girl was a song about someone called roderigo
'Hey Roderigo' instead of 'hey where did we go'

In the lyrics to 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' which go:

Now I know how Joan of Arc felt

    My wife always heard:

    Now I know I don't like vodka

The chorus to 'Like Glue' by Sean Paul...

    'I'm a knobbly number two'

The first reggae artist to describe themselves as rough poo? :D

    This:
This song topped a 2010 poll, which sought out the most misheard lyrics. Four out of ten people polled thought "Call me when you try to wake her up" was "Calling Jamaica."
