    Saturation point?

We're still 2 million off the 1841 figure.

When I lived in Lucan, there ended up being only two Irish people on my road (out of 18 houses) What happened was, people bought just on the the boom, boom happened so their kept their first house, rented it out, but moved on themselves. Many of the houses ended up being rented out to rent allowance tenants. People were getting great rents, which were guaranteed by the Eastern Health Board.

I would say 70-80% of the people living there were non nationals. When I moved out of my house, a guy bought it to rent out and another family of non nationals moved in. As far as I know the last Irish family are still living there.

Is that New 'Lucan' you mean?

Yeah but if you were to add another 2 million immigrants to the country it would cause ethnic tensions similar to what we're seeing in the UK. If we want to avoid that scenario we have to stop the flow long before we reach two million.

OP has a problem with the foreigners using all the swings in the playground.

    I feel your pain, OP.

Its shockin Joe shockin. Deyre living on our roads.

I've no problem with anyone living anywhere....but to be honest, it was very difficult being almost the only Irish person. A mix is great, but this was not a mix and there were a lot of social problems and I was very unhappy living there. So, as I work hard to pay for and be proud of my home, I moved, so i would be happy - life is too short.

The original poster asked for opinions, if certain areas had higher number of immigrants. I was giving my opinion from my experience, that yes, it does, which I am entitled to, just as much as you.

This is a taste of what is to come. http://www.irishtimes.com/debate/letters/state-schools-and-islamic-beliefs-1.1916801, how this will improve Ireland remains a mystery to me.

There's loads of Indian folk on my estate, and they are really great neighbours. They all work in the health service
They're here cos they've been granted the correct visa's etc and I welcome them', for their contribution both locally and nationally

But there's a very large amount of immigrants who don't contribute to society where I live.......................

That's the one, anything south of the N4 between the Spa and Woodies, but within 3miles of Lucan village.

    The point?

The point is, that in my and experience in response to the OP, that yes, certain areas have a high percentage of immigrants.

I was giving stats on where I lived as an example.

It's a simple observation, we were in a playground and I counted 24 people, us 2 are Irish every other person (22) in there was foreign, 4 different nationalitys I counted excluding ours.

Is this a normal ratio in other parts of dublin/Ireland

It is yeh. Only 1 in 12 living in Ireland are Irish.
4.6 million people, 4.2 million foreigners. You can go days without seeing another Irish person.
    Surprised you had to ask.

It is quite astonishing how different areas have that composition of Irish and non-Irish. Anyone who denies this is living in la-la land. Its a damn pity there has been no mix in all areas, ya know integration for all.

I still don't get how there's such a thing as 'too many foreigners' unless you just don't like them in general, for the sake of it. There was that time my Australian gf came over here - ffs, too many foreigners like..

My 20 year-old house is in 'New' Lucan, apparently. Dodsborough and Hillcrest have been there far longer.

Not sure that isn't anything that happens everywhere on the planet tbf, historically immigrants will predominantly end up in less well off areas for at least the first generation, after all if you could afford to live in an expensive leafy suburb you probably wouldn't have emigrated in the first place. You need only look at placies like Southie in Boston for examples from the last century.

Word is, Irish people privately think immigration has gone beyond saturation point.

    Totally shocking.
