I don't agree. You can still avail of the church if you aren't a regular attender. It's a service, and it is needed.

Would be best if Ireland copied the German model which is fully supported by the Vatican.

If you don't pay then you don't get to use the "services", this ensures the church is properly funded by the people that actually use it as opposed to the births, deaths, marriages. Of course a cut off this tax could also be used to compensate abuse victims of religious orders.

    http://www.thejournal.ie/germany-catholic-church-tax-608480-Sep2012/

Would sort them men from the boys and you'd quickly see alot more people saying they are not Catholics in order to avoid the church tax :D

Sliding fcuk off washing machines into tight spaces. Holy god, I nearly had a heart attack, and it's still only half way in. Can they not make them a little easier to slide?

Ok guys, less of this from now on. We've seen too much of this recently and it's making people uncomfortable.

Persons with no affection or interest in the Irish language changing their names on social media to the Irish version... Kool kids!

I reckon much of it is for the same reason why people write letters to the papers using their Irish name, don't want themselves to be recognised as easily as if they used their real name.

Not the case with social media I would think.

    Are you kidding me?

Whomever feels ''uncomfortable'' needs to get a sense of humour and I also wonder if they feel uncomfortable when someone makes a tongue in cheek slur on the male stereotype?

I agree with the mod's note. Bit of banter. End and move on.

No, I'm not kidding you, it's not just your post by the way so it's nothing personal. Not everybody shares your sense of rumour and it's all well and good having a bit of banter here with people you know but it looks bad to anyone new (especially a woman) who comes onto the forum for the first time. And, yes slurs against men would be taken as seriously and can you report any posts you see as inappropriate.

Because every fvcking thread is derailed with 'hilarious' banter between a few posters that makes Bernard Manning look like Stewart Lee.

There's a reason why the main forum is a like a ghost town these days.

This particular thread is surely designed for a bit of "hilarious banter"?

pconn062 gave a friendly warning, which is as low-level as a mod interaction can possibly be.

This might be a banter thread and we are letting things slide that would not be tolerated on a serious thread, but the 10th version of the same "joke" surely does not qualify as hilarious!

<mod>Any further "are you kidding me" posts may be regarded as backseat moderation, so stop it right now.</mod>

People who post pics of their kids on Facebook. Not only is it annoying to see on the news feed, but much more importantly the kids don't have any knowledge about or say in the matter. Worse still are those who do this without making their own profile private.

Don't be a tool, if you want loved ones to see pics of your kid then restrict those pics to those closest to you (this can be done on Facebook), rather than showing off your kids to every Tom, Dick and Mary who is a "friend" on Facebook.

And my post wasn't specifically aimed at you either!
Next time I won't quote anyone, to avoid confusion.

Would be more prevelant with social media given employers will usually google employees these days as well as view facebook pages. It has almost become a source of reference in itself in recent times

You can set your pics to private, friends, friends of friends, or public, last time I checked. Maybe don't make Tom, Dick, and Mary your "friends" on facebook if they're not safe to see pics of your kids.

Rant: childless people complaining about getting the opportunity to see pictures of my adorable children
    ;)

Waiting in Doctors surgery for hours when all you are there for is to get news on test results! Can't they use the phone?!

Edit: ....and then to be charged another €50 to be told I'm being referred to specialist. FFS!

Our cresh has an open facebook page. wtf is that about. At least vet who joins it is a parent whos child goes there. They sent home a consent form re pictures that we didn't sign. So now I see photos on facebook with my 2 year olds face with a big star where it should be of course this was after them posting an image of her on facebook where I sent them a polite message to remove it. Facebook generation.

Brown Thomas. Why oh why do your staff feel the need to stalk me endlessly around your shop when all I want to do is buy a new perfume? I am not going to shove your fancy creams and lipsticks down my pants so please refrain from breathing down my neck.

Attention seekers of facebook..I understand grieving the loss of someone but is it really necessary for you to post 100 badly edited pictures and statuses about that person?

Attention seeking girls of facebook..Why do you feel the need to tell all of your fb friends about everything you've just ate and conclude with a :o face and a 'I can't believe i'm still 6 stone' #fattylol' GO AWAY!

    Everything is annoying me today
