Our cresh has an open facebook page. wtf is that about. At least vet who joins it is a parent whos child goes there. They sent home a consent form re pictures that we didn't sign. So now I see photos on facebook with my 2 year olds face with a big star where it should be of course this was after them posting an image of her on facebook where I sent them a polite message to remove it. Facebook generation.

Not sure if it would be data protection...suppose it could be as you are the guardian of the child but thats a pretty stupid and serious feckup by the creche

Child protection rules say children should not be identified by name in public photographs.

Are they rules or guidelines I wonder?

    what exactly is the difference?
They are not laws, so you can't be prosecuted for breaking them, but if something bad happens because you identified a child by name in a photograph, you'd get in as much trouble for breaking a 'rule' as for breaking a 'guideline'. Either way, you should not be doing it.

    Its arts council related but

    http://www.artscouncil.ie/uploadedFiles/wwwartscouncilie/Content/Artforms_and_Practices/Venues/Guidelines.pdf
    Private
Private spaces would include homes or
other private property, any area designated
for a specific purpose or membership
    where adults have a supervisory
responsibility such as schools and school
grounds, youth clubs, arts centres or
studios – consent codes apply here. Taking
photographs of individuals in private places
without their consent is not acceptable,
unless justified by the public interest (i.e.,
    journalistic work)

So a creche taking photos without parents permission is out of order, photos taken are also classed under the Data Protection Acts 1998/2003 so publishing them on the net without consent is also a no no.

Yeah, why didn't you just ignore him? You're ruining your recovery run by getting involved in a dick-measuring contest.

Nothing surer. In your early 20s a hangover was nothing. They get worse year on year!

When the stapler has no staples left in it but you don't know until you try and staple something and all you do in dent a page!!

The last time I predicted the demise of the rant thread it made an amazing comeback. This time I fear it really is beyond help. Either give it a decent death or its name should be changed to the "whingey whiney gripey thread" If all your lives are so fantastic that all you have to complain about is the odd hangover and no staples **** off over to the rave thread with the rest of the annoying happy clappy everything is great brigade. The world is full of horrible happenings like Ukraine, Gazza, terrorist threats and the return of The Late Late Show so start proper ranting or just throw the towel in.

FFS, if you don't like the thread don't post in it, don't read it. Simple.

    Rant;

    Crumlin Shopping Centre

It's a cross between 1992 era South Central LA, Present day Detroit and the souk in Aleppo... F'ing crazy letting it get so bad - whatever happened to community pride where the **** is the tidy towns committee in Crumlin, anyone know?

The Detroit mention reminded me of the BBC documentary - Requiem For Detroit.
Well worth a look for those who haven't seen it.

    Rant: Dogs

Used to love them, now I end up being chased by them, tripping over their leads (or bodies when they are not on leads), stepping in their sh1t and being kept awake by them at night.

Rant: giving out about dogs and not their owners. It's like giving out about babies. How is a dog going to know not to poo in a certain place or to move aside as a runner approaches or know that you're not playing a chasing game?

Apparently there's been plenty of moves to either renovate or knock it down and begin again but there's lots of foot dragging, hence the lack of motivation to maintain it until it's future is certain.

OK I'm with ultrapercy on this one, the thread has truly gone to ****e when you have a rant about something and somebody rants about your rant.

    RANT

People who have nothing to rant about so rant about rants.

Is that not exactly what ulrapercy was ranting about? Others' rants?
And believe me, I have lots to rant about :D
Rant: people giving out about you ranting about their rants. My rant is just as valid as the next one even if it is a rant about another rant.
Rant: people who have to park right outside the supermarket. God forbid they might have to walk a few hundred yards from a parking space at the other end of the carpark. Ffs god knows most people could do with the exercise.
