yep lloris is a great GK option. Ill be something similar defo on ade will probably have sturridge over rooney and mata over sterling.

I think I'll go with Rooney for this weekend though with the plan being to move him on then.

Mata I reckon will be my United cover. I'm actually really talking myself into WCing now. The Costa news does seen to be true though. It's all over Twitter.

Already made transfer so debating whether to do Costa to Aguero for -4 or just play the wildcard and sort out other areas while I'm at it. Lloris probably going to rise tonight and was considering him instead of Begovic.

FPLstatistics reckon Lloris is only at 83%. They are meant to be more reliable than TotalFPL at the minute.

Great, might sleep on it so and wait for more news tomorrow.

I won't do anything until next week tbh.

I will play Naismith or 1 more defender if Costa is out.

No need to panic yet, can do Costa - Aguero later in the week.

    Hmmm.

    Hmmmmmmm.

I expect to ride this out without a kneejerk wildcard (not a criticism of anyone who has or is, strictly my own knee I'm referring to).

I'm happy enough with my punt on Jovetic last night. As it stands I'll bench Costa for Hutton at home to Hull for this week. Costa is currently 84% to a rise on
FPL Statistics so will drop at most 0.1 this week and if you've had his at his original price that drop won't actually cost(a) you anything.

That'll take me into the International break where I can assess and probably sort things out with at worst a -4. Possibly Costa to Ade for GW4 and Jovetic to Aguero for GW5 taking the hit to sort out any other issues.

    Hmmmmmm.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
I didn't really fancy Chelsea to do much against Everton so I actually brought in Silva for Fab.
I'm now happier with Terry at the back too. Park that bloody bus Jose.

-4 hit probably during international break.

Edit: Quite happy to be bringing in Rodwell against QPR.

How is Lloris a great option? Surely experienced heads aren't jumping on that wagon on the back of 2cs against poor opposition?

I was kinda expecting a more:

"Ugg smash things, RAWRR!!" Type of reaction after I sweet talked you into the -4 last night :pac:

That's gone a long way to talking me out of a -4 and trusting Van Aanholt again off my bench. The GW is yet young though :)

Your man who's name I can't spell has more than proven himself to keep a tight ship last year. He's arguably got much better players to work with this year. Don't think Spurs being good defensively will be a flash in the pan.

Saying that, I'm still happy with Krul for now.

Mick McCarthy talked me into the hit. And Mick is never wrong. Ever. You were just the channel through which Mick spoke his message.

With a year's experience under my belt I don't intend to get worked up too much about this game this year. Calculated risks yes, cursing the gods if they don't work out, I'll leave that to Rory!! ;)

Well each to their own, I'd consider it a major risk especially if playing every week. Spurs were v poor defensively against West Ham and were v lucky not to concede. Didn't see QPR game. Not personally going down the expensive keeper route(the new bp system convinced me of that), but for anyone set on it surely Courtois for 0.5 more would be a much better bet?

It is either WC now or after the GW closes for alot of folk now. Those who had Giroud as well must be flaming altogether.

If I can somehow last till GW4 opens and play a 442 this GW that would be the perfect scenario really as I always planned to use my WC then.

Well we differ on a few things so. :)
As I don't see any real logic in rotating keepers because
    1. A good mid table rotating duo is normally just as expensive as a premium keeper and a dud.
    2. With a premium keeper (or switching premium keepers once or twice throughout the season) you will get about 17 or 18 clean sheets. A mid table rotation duo will get about 10 or 11 clean sheets throughout the season each. So maybe a maximum of 22,23 vs 17,18. You'd have to be very good to make sure you had each one in selected for each clean sheet. If the both had clean sheets on the same GW for a few weeks then it's almost impossible to beat the return of a premium.
    3. People using rotations tend to change their rotations a bit and that's just eating up transfers imo.

But yes. I would choose Courtois over Lloris if given a choice. But before Costa got injured many people had a very good Chelsea def, mid and striker.... Hence the hype around Lloris.

    Time for bed :)

Really need to get things back on track on this week... Resisted the urge to use the WC but if things go awry like week then I'll have to cave next week.. The felipe Luis transfer flopped so I've ditched him for Azpil... There's about 5 others in my squad to be ditched.. So for this week

    Krul
    Caulker Azpil Lovren
    Fab Siggy Young Sterling Ramsey
    Costa Rooney

I've said before that I often play this game based on managers rather than opposition.

Southampton, with Artur Boruc and much worse 'keepers than Lloris, had 15 clean sheets under Poch last season. Their defenders also wouldnt be as good as those at Spurs. This was only 3 less than Chelsea.

Lloris himself at Spurs last season kept 14 clean sheets. Only 4 less than Chelsea.

    http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/premier-league/2013-14/best-defence.html

So you're combining a manager whose inferior team had 15 clean sheets with a keeper that had 14? Sounds a match made in FF defensive heaven for me! Far from a "wagon".

Re Courtois, I still expect Cech to play the odd game. I also think Chelsea defenders are better value because 3 of them are decent goal threats and good at picking up bps.

Re Spurs looking poor defensively vs West Ham, they still kept the clean sheet. The bigger teams will often keep clean sheets when they shouldn't have. Nugent should have scored against Chelsea on Saturday for example.

    +1, no panic.

Still have Fab as chelsea cover, just play a defender this week, ride it out and not take a hit then WC the first international break rather than the second.

Is Williamson suspended this weekend? Nothing on site about it.

    No he was suspended midweek

If Costa is out for any length of time I will almost certainly be wildcarding on Saturday morning. Will give me the international break to get rid of the likes of De Gea, Mata, Rooney etc and bring in Lloris, Sterling, Aguero etc. Not too worried about getting through this weekend without Diego - even if he's just tweaked his hammy they will rest him.

Awaiting final costa confirmation and will then pull the trigger on Costa -> Aguero. Aguero could be a great differential for the next games if there are no injury issues.

Thinking about wild carding too now, but I'll wait for conformation, want to change my keeper- beg, 2 defenders- terry , baird, a mid - wayama and 2 strikers- Costa, Fletcher,

Aguero in for Costa, probably gonna captain him too.

This has really thrown a spanner in the works (Costa) as he was one of the 4 or 5 I had completely settled on in my wildcard, I had decided to ditch Rooney but this might allow him a stay. Sanchez didn't impress me last night but his out of position prospects may see me return to him also depending on what noises come from Wenger in the next two days.

Most worrying of all is that it appears to have forced busts (H2H rival) into a wild card:( He's no Lemlin:p but he'll certainly outwit me:o on a level playing field.

Still undecided I woke up this morning humming the smiths song panic so it may be a sign to hold off for now.

Is Aguero going to start this week or will he be sprung from the bench as had been the case lately. Is that is the case surely Dzecko is better option?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 784 ✭✭✭FrClintPower

Right, Cahill > Jones is off the table, but now I'm thinking Begovic > Lloris. A long term change rather than just for this weekend, and thinking I'd better do it quick as price rises/falls might intervene otherwise (I have the 0.5m in the bank).

I haven't done it yet because I also have Chambers, Costa and Jovetic in my team and they're all likely to need the boot next week. But I could resort to my wildcard during the break.

I guess I'll be playing Naismith and Rooney up front this week. Already took a -4 hit this week. >_< No real panic. Will be hitting the wildcard on Saturday morning, I'd say.
