he pretty much has to choose between cutting grass and cleaning up litter or loosing his JSA.

Every second week around my town now you see about 20 people in those community council jackets picking up litter, or cutting back ditches with strimmers.

just one more is any chance that he could jump in to CEscheme or Intership being on Geteway and whats more important runaway from this geteway programe...couse it seams the worst option...!

as Far as CE schemes go, I think if he had started on gateway he would have to complete the 18 months before he could apply.

not sure about Job bridge since on gateway/Tus your signed off the dole, but still paid by the state, it would prob depend on the social welfare officer they spoke with, as they would need to come off gateway and sign back on JSA and movie to jobbridge payment,

CE schemes and internships are things you source yourself, he would need to find a suitable one and apply before the Gateway interview.

I know the city councils give office base jobs to people on Job Bridge , but I have not heard of anyone on gateway getting anything in that line,

heads up for him too, if you haven't read it before, he be working every second week doing 39 hours, and not 19.5 hours as advertised.

I finished Tus on a Friday, filled out everything for JSA on the Monday but got no money that week.

I went down the following week and nothing in the Post Office. So 2 weeks with no money.

I called into Social Welfare office to be told you miss 1st 3 days, so claim had not been put in til the Wednesday.

How do they expect people to last 2 weeks without any money? Will it be back paid?

you should get a back dated pay, not sure if you get it with you first payment back at the post office tho, might take a few weeks.

I thought that there was meant to be no wait for payment when coming off Tus and signing back on as the claim was seen as 'open' -and they were just transferring the payment over? At least that's what I was told (that there wouldn't be any delay with payments etc.)

That should be the case. However, people need to remember the following:

    1. When you started Tús, you received your last SW payment (partial) and your full Tús payment in the same week. Just be prepared to take the hit when you finish as you will typically only receive 2 days SW payment on your 1st week back on the SW system.
    2. If there was a change of circumstances during your time on Tús (i.e your spouse started work), then you were obliged to provide this information when the change occurred. Your payment would then be adjusted based on means assessment. Some people are not very forthcoming with this after the event, and opt to say nothing for the duration of their placement. It will be picked up in SW once you are re-introduced to the system and they will claw back over-payments.

That said, you should be back in payment immediately if your Teamleader / SW officer dealing with your file are worth their salt.

Has it not been change to be paid 6 days a week now Saturday is a work day with Sw payment so technically should be getting 3 days instead of the 2?

prob to do with the way they pay, from what I remember the JSA slip used to be dated Wed - Tuesday. so I sign back on Monday after finishing on the previous Friday. first week back I would get paid for the Monday and Tuesday on the Wednesday as Normal. and it wouldn't be till the following week I would get the full weeks rate.

You could be right terry. I'll verify this morning and post back. If you finish on Friday, technically you would be available from Sat. So it's either 2 or 3 days for your 1st week back. Watch this space........

Get on to your local office and explain. We have never had a person referred to us that has been casual. I'm sure it's the same on Gateway, but you will need to check. That said, If somebody is currently on a Tús / Gateway scheme, there is nothing stopping them from taking up part-time work to fill a portion of their free time.

Does eveyone picked for gateway/tus either (a)have to take it or (b) have their payment stopped. Is it possible for somone to be selected for interview but fail the interview?

So why would someone fail the interview?

Quite a few of the Gateway jobs entail working near schools tending to there grounds, so a criminal record rules you out.

Anyone found themselves on the payroll for a while BEFORE doing the 19.5 hours that are required?

The person I'm dealing with through Tus takes ages to deal with, yet the place I'm assigned to has been absolutely fantastic and are trying to help me with everything they can.

Last I heard from him he was sorting out my garda vetting form and that was about a month ago. My boss has been trying to get in contact with him and he's not responding at all. I've been doing about 12 hours a week where I've been placed but I think it's technically not "on the record" as I believe they've not signed the forms with each other.

I suppose it's going to have to be my turn to chase him... or at least get in contact with the woman I had originally been working with, I just got forwarded on to a different person because I've been placed in a different area to where I live.

you want to make sure those hours are on the record, you have a fix number of hours to have done in 12months and if not done you have to do extra time to cover the hours your down before you can go back on JSA,

all this should be done before you start, paper work is not even much to it, I had no garda vetting.

if you can call into the office where they are based and refuse to leave till he has everything sorted,

I sign in/out with them there so it's on record with the place in that regard. He put me on the payroll before he even got my garda vetting form a month ago, never mind even submitting it to be checked over.

I'll speak with my boss about it again this week, if he's not got in contact I'll most likely go and speak to who I first dealt with in my area.

I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced delays between getting the first payment to starting their hours officially.

is it not illegal to work on a scheme without garda vetting ???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 97 ✭✭Ken Masters

    Hi folks

Iv'e been on the TUS scheme for nearly 4 months now, is it what i expected it to be is the question, well for starters i joined at a very quiet time ( Classes finished up just as i started) i'm on the IT team , we teach computers to all sorts in a few different venues, we're supposed to do 19.5 hours a week , i think i have done these amount of hours once in about 14 weeks, i'm given my hours every week which are always less than 19.5, so say if i do 10 Hours a week i will then "Owe" them 9.5 hours despite been readily available to work, so in that sense it's a bit of a pain in the Left side of the inner Buttock, The only good thing about this is you dont have to sign on and you get payslips so you feel somehwhat back in the world of the living ( but only a small bit) i hope things pick up which i'm sure they will as classes be starting back up now that it's September.

I've worked with this crowd that I'm with now before, so I guess it's in part a matter of them knowing me already, the two other lads also looking to be placed by Tus aren't working here yet, if they even intend to be placed.
