The problem is that silencers don't make a gun silent in real life, it just makes them a bit less loud.
That's why the military call them suppressors.

But won't vampires not be affected unless it's through the heart? or unless you have a priest handy to bless your arrows :D I'll just go with the Shawn of the dead approach and bash them in the head, have a use for the million hurleys i have lying around.

Would you be laughing yourself if it was a relative of yours?

I'd imagine the relatives of people who earn Darwin awards don't find it particularly amusing either.

WTF is a 9 year old child being tutored on an automatic weapon for?

"Only in America would you get a story like this" ?

Only on Boards would you get a story like this turned into a discussion about what the most efficient weapon would be in a Zombie Apocalypse !

    :D

So she doesn't use it inappropriately or dangerously of course.

That poor girl, and instructor but I seen the clip on the indo and it strikes me as odd that he is standing to her side as opposed to behind her

Probably worried about being branded a pedo for keeping hold of her from behind to ensure the recoil didn't get out of control.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. The gun instructor should have been well aware of the possible outcomes.

To be fair given the prevalence of guns I would probably set the drinking age to 150.

I've fired Uzis at the range before, and the speed at which that thing can empty a clip is scary - no way in hell a 9 year old should have had it in her hands.

They are bloody heavy too....I've held one (but not fired it) and the sheer weight of it really surprised me..

A 9 year old would be barely able to lift the thing properly let alone hold it straight and fire it...

    Just madness.....

If they armed all 9-year-old children with Uzis this accident would be an insignificant statistic.

If the US captured the North Pole it would reduce the average US temperature so all the citizens would be a little cooler in the summer.

...about 3.5kg without the clip, - that's heavier than an M4.

yes. I'd be laughing me head of.

No, of course I wouldn't. What a stupid question.
But get over yourself. Stupidity is funny. people laugh when stupid stuff happens. Plus there have been some great jokes in this thread.
It's a pity the instructor wasn't carrying a gun too so he could defend himself.
She was just trying to lower crime 20%.
The only thing to stop a 9 year old girl with a gun is another 9 year old girl with a gun

Most of those jokes are said in a satirical manner so they've obviously gone over your head.

So you're saying that the people who posted them were actually crying inside?

and "Most"? can you please tell me which ones are not satirical? Which ones were serious?

I learned to shoot around 8 or 9.

    In Ireland.

It was the instructors fault. He was a moron. He was standing beside and even a little in front of her as he switched the gun from single shot to fully automatic and told her to pull the trigger.

This idiot is dead and I am not surprised. Also why is he wearing jungle camouflage at a firing range in the desert? In fact why wear any kind of camouflage? Just goes to show that this clown is (was) some kind of gung-ho military fool.

He'll probably get a purple heart for dying in the line of duty albeit it by a 9 year old girl.

The thing that struck me as odd is that a 9 year old kid was shooting an Uzi

There could have been a troupé of clowns marching in the background and still the kid with an Uzi is what would strike me as odd.

What sort of whackjob people think that teaching a 9 year old girl to use an Uzi is appropriate or necessary?

Bullets and Burgers sounds like something from GTA

I used to think GTA was a gross and hilarious exaggeration of Americana, then when I went to the USA last year, I discovered that Rockstar didn't go nearly far enough.

It's amazing how different the culture is and yet even with decades of osmosis, I thought we were all but American, so when people say "We're too american", I know they've never been to the USA.

    Anyways thread is missing this:

My dad had guns when I was a kid in Galway. I don't know how young I was when I first fired one but I know I pestered him for a very long time before he let me.

I realize people must think its weird that a kid would pester their parents to be allowed to fire a gun. But I did. And a lot of other do too.

If the idiot "instructor" hadn't switched it full auto, and if he stood BEHIND the gun and held it for the kid, he would still be alive.

I blame the NRA since it's legal for a 9 year old to fire a gun at a gun range.

A friend of mine had his 11yr old daughter shoot at a range while on holiday. Perfectly safe if done correctly.

She fired a 9mm which was loaded with 1 bullet at a time

Americans of all ages, race etc are all idiots.

Understand too that it was a tourist place, 25 miles from las vegas.

If you do a search on here for "things to do in Las Vegas" you'll find shooting machine guns is one of those types of activities. Its really fun.

It doesn't mean average citizens can possess fully auto weapons (they're restricted to single shot), they're there for the tourists to fire. Its hardly even "instruction" too, the guy with her should have just been there to make sure she pointed it in the right direction, squeezed off a few rounds and thats it.

What the F he was doing standing beside her and switching it to full Auto without having full control of it (and letting her touch it as it went off) is a mystery.

A (posthumous) Darwin Award nominee no doubt.

    Its a tourist place.

She probably watched her mum or dad doing it and asked if she could too.

Nobody is allowed to shoot the full auto weapons without an employee very close by. The attendant (really cant call him an "instructor") made a series of lethal mistakes and he should have known better.
