I've £17.5m for two midfielders and I've narrowed it down to either

    1. Yaya Toure £11m and Marko Arnautovic £6.5m

    or

    2. Alexis Sanchez £10.5m and Ross Barkley £7m

I'm leaning towards Sanchez and Barkely but if Hughes playes Arnautovic up front and Yaya has another goal scoring season they could produce some serious points.

    Thoughts?

Sanchez and Arnautovic for me to be honest. That'd save you .5 million to use elsewhere. Everton have a tough start whereas Stoke have a good one and Arnautovic finished last season strongly.

Would ye go with Cameron (stoke home to villa) or Caulker (Rangers at home to Hull) - that's my big selecton dilemma at the minute

If you're not going to start Caulker at home to Hull then I wouldn't have him in the squad at all, downgrade him. If you're paying 5.0m for a QPR defender you play him in those games, otherwise the rest of their defence is all under 5.

If you have a 4M sub keeper, DDG for sure.

What do ppl think about Tadic for Southampton? He had a great scoring/ assist rate in the Eredivise. Bit of a gamble though.

One for the watchlist. Him and de Jong about 3 GW's in could become essentials. Or the opposite!

I'll be monitoring Wengers presser tomorrow though to see if he gives any indications about Chambers.

Might have been posted elsewhere but he said it'll be the same squad as last weekend. Monreal (who came off the bench) the only threat I think but Chamber's played well enough.

I'm thinking of going with this:

    5o3et0h.png

Goalkeeper - Want United defensive coverage and plan to play DDG every week

Defenders - This area really worries me. I've never gone with such a weak back line before

    - Van Aanholt and Coloccini rotate well

    - Chester looks to be a starter for Hull and they are strong at home. I am worried about the impact of European football for them though

    - Chambers is a cheap way into the Arsenal back four for the first GW at least.

    - Hutton is the best of a bad lot IMHO for a 4m defender

    Midfield

    - Ramsay and Fabregas speak for themselves

    - Lamela - I want a differential and I think he is going to do very well. Could be a mistake but one I'm willing to chance

    - Sterling - Could swap to Nasri after GW1 but want some Pool cover in the first week

    - King - Bench fodder but plays in an attacking role for Leicester so you never know

    Forwards

Costa / Rooney / Giroud - Happy here!

Any feedback would be great. Thanks :)

Thanks for the comments on my team lads. I'm up to my eyeballs today but will try my best to return the favour tonight.

Solid team. Of your starting 11, I have seven and you have Bardsley to my Pieters and Hazard to my Fab.

The main differences are my Sturridge to your Costa and I don't have Debuchy. I've gone with Coloccini/O'Shea to rotate instead.

As a Sunderland supporter, do you think would van Aaholt be a better pick than Johnny?

I would think van Aanholt would be the better selection mate. I know very little about him being honest and tomorrow's opener will be the first proper look I get at him, but pre-season accounts suggest he has been bombing forward at will. With these new bonus points pointing towards favouring full backs and his attacking potential, he would be the one I'd be with if I was picking a Sunderland defender.

    DDG
    Terry - Debuchy - Pieters
    Fabregas - Ramsey - Mata - Mutch*
    Costa* - Rooney - Bojan
    Subs: Siggy, Wisdom, Taylor

I'm almost there. But I'd like peoples opinion on the following possible combo's in the * positions.

Mutch & Costa: Seems the strongest option but it's heavily dependent on Chelsea scoring well.
Sturridge & Albrighton: Liverpool don't have a great start but worried about no attacking cover. Sturridge is proven in the PL. This option means Siggy starts every GW.
Jovetic & Lamela: Much like above, I'm worried about no attacking cover for City. This option would leave an decision between Siggy/Bojan to start each week.

Would appreciate some help on this.

@lassykk - Great team but yeah, your defense leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe downgrade Lamela for a better defense? Someone like Young, Ince, Mutch, etc. would do well IMO. Ultimately up to you.

    @John - Option 1 for me.

    Mannone ( Sun)
    Cahill - Cameron - Vlaar - Davis
    Hazard - Sanchez - Mata - Brady
    Rooney - Costa

    Foster-Bojan-Grealish-Ward.

As happy as I will ever be, don't want to tinker too much with this but may change Sanchez with Ramsey.
Brady, hopefully will come good this year and I think Grealish will get some game time, a big prospect that causes defenders trouble.
The new comers Costa and Sanchez have nice games to break them into the season and Mata should have a big season saying he is comfortable at last being played in his favored spot.

@Lassykk that defence will give you problems, imo. Dunno if I would risk both Sterling and Lamela. 8.5 is too much for Sterling, I think.

Right, I've 1mil left over but someone decide for me: Rambo or Sanchez? Had Sanchez the whole time until about five minutes ago.

    Let your bank decide... :)
You'll need 1.5 for that upgrade.

I'll be all over Sanchez if he gets off to a flyer but I'm willing to wait to see if he does.
A lot of money for such uncertainty. I'd prefer to see him score well and then bring him in than bring him in and see him rested before CL qualifier.

Yeah I had another 4m defender instead of Van Anholt to make up the extra money. With Pulis gone, Palace could leak goals. I'm just wary that Ramsey is already in scoring-mode, whereas Sanchez might need to settle in. Hence my indecision.

Good profile of V A on FFS which was what sold me on him over O Shea...

I think I'm reasonably happy with this team (0.5 in bank)

    Begovic - (Green)

Terry - Debuchy - Blackett - (van Aanholt) - (Hutton)

    Mata - Eriksen - Hazard - Sigurdsson - (Marney)

    Rooney - Giroud - Dzeko.

I would like Ramsey in there, and I see 2 ways of doing this.

Play 3-5-2 with Ramsey in for Marney, and a 4.5 striker in for Giroud.
    OR
Ramsey in for Siggy and Bojan in for Giroud.

I think that Giroud offers great value so I'm reluctant to take him out. Might just hope that Ramsey doesn't deliver and snap him up in a few weeks.
(My mantra all summer was that Ramsey was the first name in my team - finished last season strong and no WC so he's totally fresh)

Starting to look at the 3-5-2 formation for the first time now myself. Just wondering if Sigurdsson will score higher then Fletcher/Bojan as that's really what it boils down to! I think Ramsey is essential too having picked up where he left off in preseason!

Your team looks v strong at that and I imagine you would have to weaken elsewhere to fit in Sanchez. I'd stick with Rambo!

    Lads

    Woould appreciate your opinions.

Not sure about dzeko but wanted some man city cover, may put giroud there instead in light of crystal palace losing their manager. Chambers probably only temp but arsenal have 2 injuries at CB. Think Ireland could be a dark horse as playing behind the striker and seems to have had a good pre season. Dont have alot of money for defence but think I did well as believe they are all starters bar chambers.

    No money in the bank

    Keepers
    Mannone Krul

    Defence
    Bruce Wilson Azpilicueta Chambers Collins

    Mids
    Fábregas Sigurdsson Mata Ireland Ramsey

    Forwards
    Rooney Dzeko Diego Costa

Think i've settled on this. Worries are Davies not starting and no Pool attacking cover but can't have everything. Going to hold off on Chelsea def until their settled line up becomes more clear. Will switch between 3-5-2 and 4-4-2.

If you're worried about Davies why not start with a 3-5-2 this week with Siggy in midfield?

I don't really fancy Siggy to do much at Old Trafford. May actually switch Davies to West Ham defender - their first 4 fixtures are decent and then if Davies is nailed on could transfer him back in.
